Disclaimer! The machines I own & oil in this video are entirely mechanical. There are no computerized components. Check with your machine manufacturer to see specific oiling instructions for your machines. Many machines are not to be oiled!
My BST Bestie, Amy has been asking for this for a while. I know many of you will think I am crazy for the way I oil and clean m machines, but it works for me. : ) Also- I apologize ahead of time if I say Janome a different way. Comment below if you have questions!

I don't use canned air, but try to vacuum out what I can before oiling. You're so right, we all have our ways, and I really appreciate all you share! You give us details and make everything so clear! Thanks again!
Once again, you've taught me something. I clean my machine and de-funk it pretty regularly. I usually only oil the moving parts, but now I will be much more liberal. I've had a home-use Kenmore for almost 25 years and it is a workhorse. Everyone's always surprised that I just use a home machine, but she does exactly what I need for alterations.
Isn't it funny how we all end up with an amazing, favorite machine?

Thank you!! I do similar with a set of paint brushes. About once a week I rattle around in there with a fluffy oily brush to get the Big Bunnies. The oil is like a magnet for debris.

I took apart my Eclipse BL for the first time and it was unbelievably dirty! Haha…wow!!! Yes, I should take it in for service but I wanted to see if I could do it myself. I should have oiled it while I had it apart, but was too freaked out from the ‘do NOT oil your machine’. So thank you, I’m not scared anymore! Hahaha! It’s nice and clean so I will oil it and I think that will make a huge difference!!! This video is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for taking the time to post it, and having enough guts to oil it for the rest of us!!!
Some machines are made to not be oiled. Some machines can be oiled. Check the directions for your specific machine. If it can be oiled, then squirt away! 😄
I had to come back and say…I re-took apart my entire machine casing and all, and oiled and lubed it up! It was awesome! I had never taken the case all round off before(old, not under warranty)but I’m so glad I did cause it was so dirty(will definitely be doing this more often poor thing).
My belt was also a problem spinning on the motor wheel? Found a great little video here, thought I would attach if others wanted to see. You’re this deep, might as well tune the whole thing up if you can? 🤷🏽♀️ ruclips.net/video/J_lI36TkIJI/видео.html my husband said it had become loose from the years of the wheel turning the fabric through and the belt slightly stretches. So you can adjust it, until ultimately the belt needs replacing.
Anyways, my husband helped me adjust the motor tension so the belt wouldn’t slip anymore. All cleaned and oiled…purrrrrsss like a kitten!!! 🎊 Thank you so much! Disclaimer, disclaimer everyone read your books and blah blah blah all that! Haha! So glad I did it! Getting my next machine out and on the table! 👏🏼
So helpful. When I had my shop I would take Friday afternoon and do a weekly cleaning on my machines. They do get nasty. Love your channel.

Hello Girls ~ I Use Craft Pipe Cleaners. They Come In A Few Sizes. All Of My Juki Machines Have Been So Easy To Clean With Them As They Get Into Those Hard/Impossible To Reach Places. I Have 100’s Of Them @ My Sewing Space. I Oil The Same Way. I Own A 1932 Singer That Will Sew Through Anything Because It Has A Oil I.V. 🤣

I have never oiled my sewing machine. I’ve had it for 20 years. It is a computerised machine and I was told never to get oil on it. I have made curtains and soft furnishings for over 10 years with it. I am a curtain designer now retired. I still make clothes though and I do have it serviced though not often but I clean it all the time. My overlocker gets oiled plenty but not in quite the same amount that you use.
Haha I bet no one oils their machines to the degree that I do! It's pretty "extra!" & Yes, I'm sure that computerized machines are a whole diff ballgame. 🤗
I am not as experienced as you by a long shot, but thanks, trying to oil my Janome BE 1000 per the manual and i was worried i would put too much and did just a dab here and there, now i will be a little more generous. I hear of machines getting locked up and wonder if this is why that happens, not enough oil???? Thanks again, life saver, LOL
I had my hubby get me a set of tiny hose attachments for my vacuum cleaner that I use to suck as much of the lint and debris out of my machines, then I go in with the brushes because the vacuum doesn't get it all. Then I oil it. I am going to try the bathing it in oil and letting it sit (since I'm not busy with C o vi d) and I have the time. :D

Oh, this is just something I do before vaycay. You can do it just over a weekend, or whatever span of time that you have off.
So if there's a hole, fill it with oil :) ...I usually put oil around the moving parts, but I'm going to step up my game. Thanks for the tutorial.

How long does it take for the oil to get completely soaked up in the scrap fabric? Does it take yards and a long time?
I spend most of the time wiping. It doesn't take much sewing to clear it. The good thing about the lily white oil is, if you get a spot of it on a gown, you can just spot clean it with dreft usually. I've always had it come right out.
My question is how do you care for the foot presser? I’ve recently noticed mine sticking a little under my foot.
Hmmm... i guess you could oil the spring in there. There are thicker greases you can use & also powders you can lube with that doesn't get the wiring wet.
I would ask a service guy about that because I have opened up a pedal before and couldn't get it back right. Lol

My old sewing machine was soooooo easy to oil, my new singer 9600, not so much🤔, bloody thing is impossible to get oil into the upper workings and I'm afraid to muck up the electronics on it.
Ooohhh.. yes, the electronic ones are best left to the pros for servicing. 🤗

@@BridalSewing i keep it in a plastic tote surrounded by fabric so it stays as dust free as possible
Do you get it serviced? I find most of my dust doesn't come from sitting, it comes from the sewing.

Have you ever ran into a situation where the wheel on Juki will not turn?
I haven't, but a friend of mine did. Something was loose in the hand wheel. I think she tightened a screw or a knob.
