I know my favorite one was when llcoolj and X and method man and red man! There was good and when lil bow wow was on there and brandy and christina aguilera was another one!😊
I liked and spent every Saturday night watching Showtime at the Apollo! From 1987, the 1990's-throught the 2000's was all the best episodes of its time!
Just introduced my son to this…was just talking about the Apollo to my son and I found this episode. Brought back a lot of memories. Funkdafied was such a monster jam. Plus, it had a Salt and Pepa throwback with a competitive Amateur Night…this was a great episode to share with my boy.
Apollo Talent Show is very special, gives those who have never performed in front of a live audience a platform and those who are experienced the opportunity to grow, hone their art/skilz, all the chance to enter the field of professional entertainment.
@ms.punkie9580 @R_L_1369look at the year, 1995. Whether this performance was right before the infamous 1995 Source Awards (which took place just a few miles from this theater) or right after, in 1995, the atmosphere in New York was thicc with animosity toward outsiders because the West Coast had just taken over the rap game for the previous 2 years, and now the South was coming.
Always looked forward to Saturday night! Called everybody to remind them who was on the show and to turn it on! Brings back good memories, I loved when The Brat asked JD "why they sitting down" loved it! Loved Apollo, Miss this show very much! Bring it back!
I watched Showtime At The Apollo! from its beginning, and I think that the Kiki Sheppard/Rick Aviles/Sinbad/Mark Curry/Steve Harvey/Rudy Rush/Mo'Mique/Whoopi Goldberng/Anthony Anderson era was the bomb. This series aired on late Saturday Nights on my CBS station WCSC-TV Channel 5 in South Carolina at 12:00am (later moved to 11:35pm) after the 11:00pm News and either right before the CBS Late Movie, New Music Report, Global Jam, CBS' Crimetime After Primetime, Apollo Comedy Hour, or Soul Train.
Brat's single 📀 must've JUST come out the day b4 this show cuz that crows was DEAD ☠️ as HE-YELL when she came out on stage !! When that song came out, I remember every1 started bopping they heads & rappin' along everytime it came on the radio 📻. Brat has always been EXTREMELY underrated compared to less talented female rappers 👩🏽🎤who got more shine!! She'd eat up ANY of these female rappers out todayfor breakfast, lunch, & dinner!!
I was the only one up in the house watching these episodes. I had to say up for the Rap performances. Arsenio Hall actually was the only other show I’d stay awake for, for the same reason. I liter didn’t miss an episode.
This brings back memories. Used to watch this show all the time as a kid very late at night. On UPN, it would be this show, the Houston Rockets games, Martin, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Star Trek: Voyager.
She said "Why they sitting down!?" Because y'all in New York and that's how New York folks was at the time.....hella on some stank shit!! Plus Brat is and was a "Stud." #SoufGotSumnToSay!!😂🤣💯
I remember this show growing up before the American idols days dam I'm old lol. You gotta have balls to go on this show if I were to go on I'd practice really hard.

Salt'n Pepa ahead of their time by 30 years.
Innovative, Bold, Fresh, Subversive and so entertaining.

Was the best performance,no doubt!

@@FloridaGeorgia I was very young at that time, but yeah you right. I recall a tenseness when it came to the music world at that time.
New York were straight haters back in the day!
what an amazing moment in time, only those that experienced it would know.
What a time to be alive!!! KiKi always looked beautiful
I miss my childhood!!!!
Lil Man killed it!
I was scared for Lil Man, but i stand corrected, nothing to worry about. He was insane!
I would like an update on Little Man if that’s cool….

Went to a KFC in Jamaica as a kid and the lady at the counter asked me which piece of Chicken would you like. I said "the big piece". Woman lost it😆😆

7:28 this song slaps. bruh i listen to this all the time im so glad i found this episode holy shit
The band is louder than the singers just like the musicians in church playing over the choir.
I used to stay up late at night to watch Showtime at the Apollo. I'm a white boy, and it was the best show on tv, just saying.
27:03
Memphis,TN!!!
Lil Man Lil Man did that !
Bratt and JD sounded so good, that's what a pro sounds like

He was awesome, James Brown Performance!👏🏾😆
Wonder where “lil man” at nowadays
Lil man 🥰🥰🥰
I wrote this song with Greg back in 1992. Original version is a little slower. Greg is the one holding his coat.
Showtime at the Apollo will always remind me of 90s JRPGs and vice-versa. That's just how childhood works I guess.
This take me back
Showtime at the Apollo Are Now Streaming on These Platforms
This is the group Lil' Kim mentioned on her song dreams she even recorded a song with them.
Im from Lumberton NC....i wonder are they're still in The Ville?
Greg passed away and the others are around fayetteville area doing different things
