You can apply in the US when you turn 18. But there are school programs. All the relevant information is on their website. I know I'm 5 years late to this, but I felt it is still useful information. :)

what happens if some one shows up who has a order of protection against them by some one who is in the shelter will that person have to leave and fend for them self and what about a sex offender im not in the situation but wonder how the law works
From what I understand if it's in a shelter the Responders get the shelter manager involved and they have plans for such situations but no one is denied assistance.
I'm three years too late to your question but I'm here to do my best to answer it as an Active ARC Volunteer. No one is allowed to "Visit" those staying within the Shelter, out of not only the safety of the individual themselves but the safety and Privacy of ALL those staying in the Shelter. IF a dangerous individual enters the Shelter seeking someone, we cannot tell them if the person they're seeking is there or not. If an individual that has a violent history or standing orders against them enters the Shelter seeking to stay within due to a disaster, we are obligated to seek assistance from local Law Enforcement to handle it. The safety and privacy of those in our Shelters is always a top priority. We do have a strict rule in terms of registration. The Shelter Manager will handle any and all special cases as they come to light. "has a order of protection against them by someone who is in the shelter" I hope this helps with your question. If you need more information just reply to me and I'll try to help to the best of my ability.
@@MultiGamingNetwork03 like will they turn away a sex offender and say fend for your self I hear in Florida jails will shelter them separately from inmates
@@DavidBerquist334 I know we have special protocols when it comes to any kind of offender. If we do find out that a sex offender is being registered to stay in the shelter, they'll be handed over to the Shelter Manager and that person will handle it from there. I'll make an inquiry to one of our Managers about the protocol and get back to you as soon as I can.
@@DavidBerquist334 as a Volunteer I do have access to certain things that are not public Domain, but I can tell you that if a Sex Offender does enter, they will be given to the Shelter Manager who will go through a side process. I don't have any further access to the rest of the information you seek but our top priority is the Safety and Privacy of ALL who enter the Shelter. But I have rules I have to follow as well. If you have any further inquiries I'd suggest calling the Red Cross directly and asking.
My Father was in a Nazi concentration camp, dysentery, malnourished and full of lice..they got him out...eternally grateful.. He went on to live a happy life, smiling, laughing and joking and grateful to be alive..THANK YOU RED CROSS🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
