I keep reminding my husband to stock up on underwear and socks because I’m not going to be hand washing our clothing every day during a disaster. He’s not listening so he may be going commando if disaster strikes.
As a succesful husband in a successful marriage for 12 years if you carry to much you are going to be ditching it anyways and you will have wasted money or resources. If you both don't work equally and expect him to do everything expect him to ditch you as well. If you can't bring equality in a crisis you are expecting to be carried through the entire experience and no one will tolerate that no matter who you are. And if you don't wash clothes enough even by hand expect to get sick or die or others to and be an accessory to the entirety of the risk. You don't need to do his but don't expect him to do far more then you are prepared to. Tbh you git bigger problems long term just don't be lazy or useless and contribute in a single category. Your bond with people under stress is more fragile than you think and it is a risk as well as tension runs high. Don't care if any of this applies to anyone I'm JUST saying so only be offended if you know you line up with the dots and only blame yourself for being complacent and having lack luster skill sets.

When our power goes off for a few hours we have no land-line phone service. Our cell phones still work until the charge is depleted. We have some solar powered phone chargers to charge our cell phones during power outs. Whether or not our phone service provider, Spectrum, will be operational during a real disaster is debatable.
Is your "landline" through you cable provider? I've found that when the power goes out so does the the phone service. I had a true landline through the phone provider and it still worked during a power outage.
We have land line phones serviced through ATT that have answering machines which require being plugged into an electrical outlet. Those don't work when the power goes out. We also have a simple, no frills phone that only connects into the phone outlet. That one works perfectly fine. And then we have cell phones.
