Me too..I watch a lots Vlive, entertainment programs. Now even no subtitles I can understand..But I never talk to Korean people..I don't have K friends.
The way i understood this without even going through TTMIK level 1 or any level. All these years of watching kdramas, listening to kpop & the lives paid off.
i personally thank TWICE for teaching me korean lol watching Time To Twice episodes not only makes me laugh but also i can learn hehe btw what a cute pfp!!
wtf... I can understand the whole conversation... and I can translate it all to English in my head. I guess watching kdramas are not a waste of time lol
@@armyandbts7105 I would start with learning 한글 (Hangeul, the Korean alphabet) and then learning basic verb such as 있다 (to have), 없다 (to not have), 이다 (to be), 아니다 (to not be), 하다 (to do), 공부하다 (to study), 일하다 (to work), 읽다 (to read), etc, and then verb endings such as -요 (polite), -ㅂ니다 (formal), -죠 (clarifying something), and -잖아요 (saying something the other person knows). I literaly want to cry rn ive been trying to learn korean for a few months and i felt like i didn't learn anything but i understood everything in this video. Im so happy!!!
so trueeee! i never learned korean but i can understand all the conversation easily. Just watching dramas and variety show, it's more fun and easy way to understand korean language :)
This is how i learned korean basically.. 😄 and yes it is more effective.. Variety shows help a lot, they talk faster and more natural so I could get used to listen to the long conversation.. 😆
that is called immersive learning! basically, it's like learning another language the way you learned your 1st one as a baby. Try watching dramas w/out subtittles, and see how much you can pick up. This is how my Spanish teacher teaches us Spanish, its becoming more and more respected. It's still good to shore up on some grammar tho

She provides more past tense future tense and present tense examples than talk to me in Korean 2) Conversational Korean (covers the same grammar patterns as talk to me in Korean) he definitely goes into thorough detail with each level that he teaches. 3)Prof. Yoon's Language CLASS (same as first 2) explained the to and from and at particles better than talk to me in Korean in integrated Korean I believe it was lesson 2 or less than 3 4)SUSAN'S KOREAN WORKBOOK (plays drama clips at native speed) 5)KBS WORLD TV for live action content 6) I watch Korean interviews too. Like with Jessie on ODG/KOCOWATV channel on YT 7 kdrama pick your favorite short drama like it's 16 episode drama and translated sentence by sentence whatever you can relate to. 8) Jadoo bilingual English and Korean. I found a 12-minute short clip. Sentence by sentence break it down get the definition play it up to 17 times and shadow it for the same amount of times. so for everyone who talked, "why you watch so many drama, it's so useless." no, we're not only watching, we're learning. that's how we can understand the whole conversation here xD
I have been learning Korean for about 4-5 months and i can actually see the results I understand everything and it makes me so happy So if you ever feel demotivated remember hardwork definitely pays off
Mee too i have learnt korean for 1 month a year ago and started again 3 days ago and i revised through level one and im on level 2 lesson 14 rn and i understood each and every word but my mother is not supportive at all cause i want to become a language expert and it is not a goal my mom wants me to have but still im learning and can see the results therefore im not gonna stop
At first I thought i wasn't understanding...but I concentrated and replayed it and realized I actually could understand 99% of what they were saying if i really focused. This is my reminder how important listening practice is
i remember when i first started learning korean, i didn't imagine ever being able to even read hangul. now i can understand everything in this video and more, and i'm so proud of myself :') thank you so much ttmik, your resources have been truly invaluable
@@mia3602 for me, it is less than two weeks. that is, I revise almost everyday. make a lesson plan for yourself and you will see the result of your hardwork
@@mia3602 it took me almost 3-4 months to be comfortable with hangul (reading an writing) and to be able to understand everything in this video. I did learn how to write and read hangul in 2 weeks, it's not hard at all, but it took some time for me to get used to it. As for the TTMIK courses, I didn't study everyday and I like to be flexible with my studying, it's much more enjoyable for me. I'm trying to say that you should go by your own pace and find what works for you. Good luck ;)
The fact that i understood almost everything without any korean lesson is kinda giving me hope that if i actually took lessons and learn it i'm able to get on a decent level. Maybe someda the time will be right to learn it haha i'd love to in university..maybe they'll have a class i can take or sumn
For sure! I had the same happen to me with Japanese. I've been studying it for 3 years now and because of anime I'm really good at listening excercises, and all the other aspects come easier as well
@@바보Queen Jeez, don't be such a stuck up. This person was happy they exceeded their own expectations, so don't try to ruin it just because they're happy with an accomplishment you deem easy. Who are you to judge
I might go to South Korea for animation schools, so I'm basically preparing to learn Korean and being able to understand every each word, so that I don't make a fool of myself when I have a conversation with my classmates or professors. But anyways, practice makes perfect, this TTMIK is absolutely amazing, the way they've constructed the words, syllables, how to grasp anything from your mind. Even when you wanna text a friend on the phone, it'll become much easier when you know the Korean typing system, u won't have a problem at all.😊
Someone wants beer someone wants a cola kimchi bolgogi someone asked to let’s go eat and a lot of excuse me to waiter or waitress lol 😂 I think I understood this and the word like please if I am understanding correctly let me know I did not understand the other parts thought I was maybe heading to level 2
@@cecilianieves4192 you've done well. It was someone's birthday and the male didn't know about it so he didnt have a gift to give. But the female friend did. They asked the celebrant what she'll like to do,but she wasn't sure. They asked if she'll like to eat/ hungry and she said yes. They ordered for kimchi pizza and the girls wanted to order for a beer and he said it was strange to have beer with pizza. This is how I also understood it.
Well, I am really happy I came through this video. It is my first time watching your videos and I wanted to test my beginner level and I could get almost 80% of the conversation. I didn't study every word but I watch K drama for more than 10 years now and I can easily understand what they were talking about. Thanks for boosting my confidence about the language.
OMG I listen K-pop and watch K-dramas more than 10 years. Maybe it`s already 11 years i don`t know. But I`m thinking sometimes It`s not for me. i try my best for a long time but i can`t produce results yet. but I want to say thanks to you. because you give me motivation.
I can't translate the exact meaning of the conversation but it's so cool that I can actually understand it. Guess watching at least 20 dramas a year pays off.
This has just confirmed to me that I need to practice more so that I can understand everything at a normal speech pace. My reading comprehension is way better than my listening comprehension.
I think it may have to do with what are your stronger points. Are you someone who learns better with reading or listening? For myself, I have never been a good auditory learner. Whereas I understand much more seeing it on paper, ie reading. I didn't do very well with this listening test. I wanted them to slow down. Don't be too discouraged by all the other comments of how great they did in listening. They may be auditory learners. Keep working at it! I know we can do it!
@@otter3659 You can change the settings on the youtube video to reduce the speed. Settings -> Playback Speed -> 0.5 or 0.75. Listen to that and then when you can understand it better, set it back to normal :)

A month ago i was jealous of the comments but now I can confidently say that I understand all the words. I have been studying here and there for the last 3 months but at times felt unmotivated. I've tried different platforms, books, and followed many youtube channels that teach Korean. Although they have helped me in some ways, for me I'd say TTMIK is what helped me the most. after I finished book 1, it's like a switch went off in my brain. I'm on book 2 now and learning is starting to become fun. Thank you!
I can understand it but I can't translate it into a nice sentence, like I can't translate it into an understandable sentence to a friend but I can understand it...
Thats awesome¡ and honestly its better that way bc if u get used to translating phrases instead of thinking in the language you’re learning, ur thought process before speaking and during conversations would become slow resulting in you talking slower
I AM PROUD OF MYSELF FOR UNDERSTANDING THE WHOLE CONVERSATION BY JUST WATCHING THE KOREAN DRAMAS ,WATCHING K VARIETY SHOWS AND BY HEARING BTS CONVERSATIONS AND WITHOUT TAKING ANY LESSSONS . WOWWW
i feel a little sad because i study korean very hard and i still didn’t understand the whole conversation easily, and there are so many people who understood everything without studying at all. but i will just take this as more motivation to keep studying! 감사해요~~
Without reading the transcript here's what I made out of what I've heard. (I'm just an advanced beginner so idk if it's correct) So there's Min-soo/Min-su (the guy) and Min-ah (girl) at the first part of the conversation. Min-soo notices Min-ah holding something so he asks what is it. Min-ah replied by saying that it's a gift, to which Min-soo quickly replied in gratitude (because he thought it was for him). Min-ah quickly responded by saying that the gift was meant for a different person because it was her birthday on that day. That person was Hyeon-ju. She arrived shortly after Min-ah corrected Min-soo. The guy apologized and so on for not knowing that it was Hyeon-ju's birthday and whatnot. The trio got hungry and Min-ah asked Hyeon-ju what she wanted to eat till they settled for pizza. So they went to that particular place and Min-soo surprisingly ordered a kimchi bulgogi cheese pizza, to which Min-ah got flustered upon hearing such combination. Afterwards they ordered drinks to which Min-soo ordered coke (cola), but Min-ah (or Hyeon-ju I lost track of who's who due to being audio only lmao) retorted that she doesn't drink coke and instead tries to order beer. Min-soo says they don't serve them there and the two got into a brief banter. Luckily, Hyeon-ju asked if they have beer on the menu to which they did. Min-soo was kinda not on board with the pizza + beer combination to which Min-ah asked if it was weird for him. Finally the order arrived and proceeded to say bon apetit, more or less. Hope it helped for some huhu it's the best that I can do.
Don't worry; it doesn't take too long to start understanding more...especially if you're much too enthusiastic about food like me. 😂 I just wish I had the time and energy to devote to studying Korean like I used to, but instead my present reality is university while working multiple jobs. 😩
I think listening comprehension is really difficult and takes a long time tbh. Time and lots lot of input. Think about it. You have to recognize the sounds, the words, the phrases all in a very short amount of time. Not an easy thing at all. Keep on listening! 🎧
I listened to this in the begining of my Korean learning journey and only understood some words, now I can understand the whole thing, IM SO PROUD OF MYSELF❤️☺️
at first i didn’t understand this on my 3morh of learning korean. then 6months later of my still learning korean i finally understand it all. thank u so much and don’t give up learning
I clicked on this not expecting to do that well, but I ended up understanding about 75/80% of the conversation, so not so bad. I often feel overwhelmed and discouraged, so it's encouraging to see that my studies, though irregular, are paying off.
I was able to understand 95% of Korean clearly, I have been learning korean since 2 years, And I finally able to write, read and understand Korean till level one ❤❤🎉😊 감사합니다 티티믹 그리고 선생님❤

This is how my Spanish teacher teaches us Spanish, its becoming more and more respected. It's still good to shore up on some grammar tho

She provides more past tense future tense and present tense examples than talk to me in Korean

Without reading the transcript here's what I made out of what I've heard. (I'm just an advanced beginner so idk if it's correct)
So there's Min-soo/Min-su (the guy) and Min-ah (girl) at the first part of the conversation.

민아: 저는 콜라 안 마시고 싶어요. 저는 맥주 주세요.
Mina: I don’t want to drink cola. Give me beer.
민수: 여기 맥주 없어요.
Minsu: There is no beer here.
민아: 있어요.
Mina: There is.
현주: 저기요, 여기 맥주 있어요? 네, 맥주 하나 주세요.
Hyeonju: Excuse me, do you have beer here? Yes, give us one beer.
민수: 누가 피자집에서 맥주를 마셔요?
Minsu: Who drinks beer in a pizza place?
민아: 왜요? 이상해요?
Mina: Why? Is it strange?
민수: 아니에요.
Minsu: No.
현주: 피자 나왔어요.
Hyeonju: The pizza came out.
민아: 맥주는요?
Mina: And beer?
현주: 여기 있어요.
Hyeonju: It’s here.
민아: 잘 먹겠습니다!
Mina: Let’s eat!
민수: 잘 먹겠습니다.
Minsu: Bon appetit!
현주: 잘 먹겠습니다.
Hyeonju: Let’s eat.

Feels great to understand lots of the words in the conversation. This is really helpful practice for me💜
I'm so proud of myself that i understood 80%of the conversation 😍
HOLY SHIT I LITERALLY UNDERSTOOD EVERY WORD WITHOUT LOOKING AT ANYTHING😂it’s so satisfying to understand everything without even going thru TTMIK. I can read and write in korean since I learnt them and I’m still learning to talk. But watching soo many korean dramas paid off😂😂
Wow, I could literally understand every single statement without even taking lessons! I think I should start studying properly 💪🏻
Amazing!
I was able understand every word of this bec it's true it was in the Level 1 of TTMIK. I even finished writing on 1 notebook writing the lessons from TTMIK ❤️
I understood most of it! I'm proud of myself considering my hearing wasn't the greatest in some points but i was able to figure out what it meant before reading the translation!
Who want to study or talk in korean with me!

I don’t know if I should be proud or ashamed for understanding all of this. Thank you Kpop & Kdrama:)
*I'm smilling like a fool on the whole video 'coz I actually understand what their were talking😆*
I watched this video about 3 months ago and could barely understand anything, seeing it again today I understood everything ! I'm sharing this so that people now that eventually it does get easier ( all I did was watch kdramas, listen to music and watch hours upon hours of my fav idols talking !)
okk so after about a fickle 2+ years of giving up and relearning korean, i understood most of this finally 😭 i think i'll actually try really hard not to give up this time
