Good tips here. I've always used the preassembled systems sold in the stores with the flexible tubing instead of PVC. There are pros and cons: it allows you to turn individual nozzles to a different direction, but sometimes it's hard to get them to stay where you want, which your assures. Also, 2:16, great idea on adding the mesh gasket inside hose. My problem is always what I can use to support the system. I use shade sails, which aren't sturdy structures. Guess I'm going to have to construct a frame to hold the tubing. Thanks for great video that doesn't leave anything out!
Fantastic! We've got a crafts fair tent like that and adding a misting system would make even the hottest summer day bearable...just like the refreshing misting tunnels at theme parks like Six Flags. Your ingenuity never ceases to amaze..and I saw some new things like the PVC cutters and that threaded drill bit. Another thumbs up! Don
You are very welcome. And thank you for making me more aware of the issues for people like yourself. I will do my best to keep providing this type of quality.
I've been wanting to do this exact thing for under my deck. Great video and thanks for posting. I figured this would be rather easy but i like the twist of making it portable.
Would like to know how I could make this system portable to use at camping or sporting events? I know I need a pump, battery, and water storage container. Just not sure if I’m able to connect a hose to the pump or a way to do so.Thank you and great video.
@@SpecificLove7 thanks so for every nozzle it needs that minimum pressure for each one added at least. Do you know what's better? Water pressure or air pressure delivered nozzles would you happen to know? Thanks
Hi, I'm guessing that you had the water supply side of the system hooked up to a regular water spigot/hose. But how 'open' did you have the faucet turned on? Was it cranked wide open, or just a turn or two? I wonder if turning on full blast might put undo strain on the various joints, causing eventual leakage?
+playokay We are on a lower pressure well system and used the garden hose at full pressure. But the PVC is rated for much higher pressure. So as long as you have glued the joints correctly, there should not be any problem with a standard home water pressure.
Great idea. I am going to adapt this idea and make a sort of cage/box that will fit over my A/C unit and the spray will cool the unit when it is on.... instead of attaching the misters directly to the A/C unit itself. I will be able to just lift the thing off and store it inside during the colder months. One question.... where exactly did you pick up that drill/tap tool? What is the correct size of tap to use to thread the misters (the ones you suggested) onto the PVC pipe?
Awesome project this will be excellent for summer in Deep South Texas the heat out here can be quite challenging ,you your videos are awesome they sure help me out 👍😃
Nice video.I need one information.I live in southern India where in summer temperature goes up to 40 deg c and humidity will be 77%.The roof of my house is made of concrete and to reduce heat I gave metal sheet roofing still I cant find any difference in reducing the heat inside the room especially during night time.I would like to know if I could moisten the metal roof by fixing flexible vinyl tubing on top of the metal roof and putting finer holes on these tubes. These tubes can be connected to the super cooled water from Peltier chip and circulate the water using a medium size aquarium pump, so that the roof gets cooled down and the room temperature will be reduced. But will this idea work ?
Jospeh,. For India we need our indigenous solution, such videos should inspire us to create our own as per our condition. Your plan ia good too, pl make your video n spread the good technology
Any ideas of how to adapt this for an umbrella. It would have to be very easy to disassemble quickly when the umbrella is lowered. Or create a single stand one that could be left up and not attached to umbrella. Thanks for any input.
So running some calculations based on the number of mister tips and the Gallon per hour number you said...is this running 4,5,6 GPH, maybe a little more?
Cool project as usual, thanks! Just wondering but do you think it would be possible to make a small enough hole in the PVC that you wouldn't need a misting nozzle (maybe using a hot sewing pin)
NO!🤣 NO! Kinda like using chicken wire for your screen door-- it just won't keep bugs out! The finer the mist, the better the cooling effect. Achieved by the quality of the nozzle and the force that sends the water through them.
You should mention that these types of misters work on a principle called flash evaporation. If your relative humidity is above 30% these will jsuy get you wet.
Hello Sir, i was wondering if you may have a parts list because i am interested in replicating this "DIY" for this coming 4th of July. My two best friends and i are having a small grill party in my backyard with our families and we want to beat the Summer heat and enjoy our Family Time😎😌🏜
Parts list with links for the DIY mister is in the description. Any good plumbing or local hardware store can help you make sure you get the right elbow and end caps. You can take screenshots for that part, or just tell them what you’re doing. They’ll hook you up. The nozzles and drill bit are very reasonable, at least they are today. 22 mist nozzles for $10, and under $12 for the threading drill bit. PVC is cheap enough as well.
I need this in my life 👍😁👏 I this is what I wanna put on my deck . Now I just need to get someone to do it for me Lolol my boyfriend not too handy ☹️ he’s very strong 💪 but, not handy 🤨
They will screw right into that Rainbird style drip irrigation flexible tubing, and hold under pressure. They emit such a small amount of water per minute that tubing is plenty big enough if you have good water pressure, good for at least 7 per tube.
Any reason why this could not be used for a mosquito misting system? I imagine a sump pump in a barrel on a timer could do it. Maybe even using an off the shelf controller or build an arduino. But the actual question is: Would these misting heads work for water carrying oils or chemicals?
This is called "low-pressure misting" because it relies on city water pressure, which is not high enough to create true evaporative mist. After a couple of minutes, all the floors and furnitures will get wet from this. It works, but... it's better to use it to water plants
Love the video! I was wondering, does any of the Mister head's drip by doing it this method with the threaded drill bit? I used a regular drill bit and of course they leak, so I'm trying to find the kind of bit you're using, what exactly is the bit called? Having a hard time finding it at the hardware store so I may have to order it
They sell these at home stores, and online. Orbit is one company. There are several 'levels' of premade misting systems; they vary according to the size of the flexible tubing, some made with PVC like here, some have pumps, etc. I've have these for years, always getting the cheaper premade ones - they are portable, and you just replace the nozzles when then they stop spraying right. But you also clean the nozzles every month or 2 by removing and soaking in vinegar for 20 minutes. I couldnt imagine an enjoyable summer without these-- and a couple tiki torches!😋
Hats off to you as the only one who doesn't skip over the NEED TO DRILL HOLES for the nozzles!

May I suggest using bungee cords instead of zip ties to maintain the concept of portability?👍🏼
But the elastic degrades in the sun, the heat, and when they get wet.
Yes, or extra large carabiners!
great video! Next time provide a parts listing to be copied and taken to store and a cost estimate for the size canopy in use...just a suggestion!

Where were you last week when it was 100 where I live. I was wishing for a misting system around my bed so I could sleep.....LOL

If this is portable what is your water source? I wonder if you could use a spray pump for tailgating?
Can I use smaller pipe to do the work? Smaller in pipe diameter
Cool idea. I would use half inch pvc unions instead of adapters.
Love this idea, but if the corners are glued, how is it disassembled? Thanks for taking the time to post this
+Paul Belke They unscrew at the screw together connectors, which are not glued.
Thanks for the video. Yo Know what pressure do I need for the misters work propertly.
Not sure in the minimum, but mine works at 50-60 psi
Good question

I wonder 🤔... Gonna try and make a diy nebia shower head! Wish me luck!
What is the size for the PVC you used?
Would it be more ideal to drill the holes one size smaller then hand thread the holes? Would keep the heat down for certain.

For an umbrella, you might be able to use a small hose instead of pvc.
Orbit sells a ready made portable set for around $15. It uses small flexible hose with 5 nozzles in place, and clips!
What would you say was the total cost of this project?
Which motor do you use? Pls answer
So running some calculations based on the number of mister tips and the Gallon per hour number you said...is this running 4,5,6 GPH, maybe a little more?
+stormthrush37 I think it might be a little closer to 10 gph, but it depends on the pressure.
That is a great idea, if there was a way to have the water supply without the hose, so it could be used at a sports complex. That was sale very well.
Outstanding. Thanks for sharing!
+Teresa White Thanks
Can you use this if it's cold enough to make snow?
Uh No. if it’s that cold to have snow, the wtaer would be frozen. You don’t want frozen water in the pipe to begin with
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
I want to built a small version for my room so I can apply it in from of my table fan and enjoy the cool breeze..any tips?
The sprayer will get a lot of stuff damp in your room. I would just use them outside.
Ide listen your room would smell of mold and if left long enough could develop mold and possibly not the good kind causing health issues
Cool project as usual, thanks! Just wondering but do you think it would be possible to make a small enough hole in the PVC that you wouldn't need a misting nozzle (maybe using a hot sewing pin)
Chances are it would a very small stream of water instead of a mist.
NO!🤣 NO! Kinda like using chicken wire for your screen door-- it just won't keep bugs out!
The finer the mist, the better the cooling effect. Achieved by the quality of the nozzle and the force that sends the water through them.
This would be great for those who have outside animals like rabbits, etc... Jen
+Christian Adventure Films I did not think about that, good idea.
Currious what size those misters are bc I bought .3mm ones and I think it's to fine thinking about buying .8mm ones.
The rule is usually the finer the mister the better the quality of the cooling.
Too good

Shower curtain rings?
Always wrap Teflon in a counter clockwise direction, or else it will roll back on itself and do you no good. 👍
you forget to mention the source of water to misting system. do you think the pressure in your faucet is enough to burst out those mist?
It is on mine
The faucet gives great enough pressure, and no, not too much that will burst the nozzles or system.
@@SpecificLove7 not interested. I have small diaphragm pump for my misting system.
The floor will probably get wet within 1 minute, the mist most likely will not be fine enough.

Actually misting symptoms already repel small flying insects the mist makes it hard for them to fly through
used a pump?
Where did you get the misters from?
Thank you!
if u use the zip ties backwards you wont have to cut them and waste so much... it might would help be worth a try i would think!

heavy duty velcro strips might work well also, the zip ties wear out eventually
