I don’t have a problem with the pricing. But I do have a problem with the timing; it’s far too early for this change. The Polaris was never a money maker, it was always a economy protector. A patrol vessel, keeping other orgs or NPC threats from attacking and destroying your money making industrial complexes.Therefore, the best defense, system-level defense ships, would sensibly be the most expensive to maintain. But they need to WORK!

They do this all the time. They implement something not in the pipeline and when it inevitably causes needless drama they "fix" it. Until this game (if ever) is released all this balancing is necessary and unfortunately for all of us (Evo or not) we're virtual guinea pigs until everything get's ironed out. So just like the whole QT fuel debacle let's just wait and see what CIG says. If there were very few bugs and you couldn't lose your ship for no reason then I see no issues with capital ship ordinance being costly. o7
Should be 120k for S9, 240k for S10, reclaims should come with the exact torps it had when destroyed. Ships lost through bugs should be free reclaim; they should KNOW when a ship was destroyed by something other than a player or an impact. Missions should be increased payout by 2x-5x. The nerf coming RIGHT after IAE, when they were selling them, is like the sleaziest scammiest looking shit they could have possibly done. I feel bad for anyone who bought it, they should seek a refund or do a chargeback if it is their only ship and they are tired of this stuff. That said, I have had a Polaris since their initial offering, I don't find it to be a particularly interesting ship. I personally do not care if my specific Polaris has torps or not, cause at most if I use it, mine is just a mothership for smaller exploration ships. I get more annoyed by loading vehicles and equipment into it, and losing all my stuff I spent time loading to a stupid bug like an undocking error.

The timing is strange, I agree! I don't think the Polaris should be a money maker in the long term (on its own), but we're not there yet. Your example of escorting a Hull D is where the profits should be earned. Short term, the Polaris should make money so people can test the hell out of it.
You should also have the opportunity to select how many you want to restock. Right now you don't have any option but to restock all. Or if you only want lets say just ballistic weapons restocked but no missiles/torps, you don't have that option either.
I think CIG is listening and over valuing loud voices in the community i.e content creators, etc. While I am pro costs needing to be in place for missiles and torpedoes, I think this is a bit too much. If this ammo is going to be this expensive they need to be more reliable from a bug and effectiveness standpoint. Hopefully this is adjusted again before released.
Optimally it should be so a S9 torp costs slightly less than what an ERT pays out. This way, you can still use torpedo ships for their intended purpose while not getting punished for it

Agree, crafting and scavaging them (currently its hard to quantum with the Size 10 torps in cargo of other ships) should be the way forward for players with the buy instore at full retail the backstop option only used by Orgs when going for large scale resupply between critical fights and cost be damned.
This speaks volumes to future capital ships. People are just going to stop buying stuff if they make it impossible to play after you buy it. The point of buying the ship is to have it ready to play without wasting the time ingame to make it..

Learn how to make your own money in the game and buy your own torps. All these same issues of losing your “cargo” have existed for cargo pilots for years. Polaris owners dumping their load of Torps on everyone else in a server and then just claiming their ship for a full reload is Bullshit. Stop thinking of the Polaris as a money making ship for ERTs or VRTs. It’s not. Or start finding orgs that need their large industry ships escorted. I 100% applaud this change.
Add to it torps are easy to target and kill. A single PDC makes torps a smoke cloud at best. Add to that they miss and fail to track, server lag, basic bug and torps are less than a joke.
Balance has to start somewhere so im fine with this. You say break even but the early combat missions aren’t Polaris missions. Did you climb the ranks and see if they have those payouts in later missions in 4.0?
I think they nerfed the torpedoes after watching your video. If they increase the price of torpedoes they should really increase the accuracy and damage of those torpedoes. Same goes for hull damage, increase the price but increase shielding and armor too. Otherwise it feels like an arbitrary nerf by people who haven't spent the time to play the game.
Polaris crews gonna start fighting over torps. I doubt this will apply to drones. Ammo is a consumable. Drones aren't. But the supplies drones use are, the drone fuel, and maybe some components - I could see any of that being up for grabs.
On Friday afternoon CIG clarified drones will self-destruct if they cannot get back to their host ship, example given was the drones being left to finish a building at an Outpost being constructed while player left with host ship to do other tasks. It paints a picture of drones are much more of a commodity then we used to think of them as, and at least on construction drones will be replaced through repairing the host ship to get fresh drones.

Worse than pirates because atleast pirates try to save your ship to take your stuff. Torp throwers just nuke things for a dopamine hit. You want to snipe a carrack or 600i then you better be selective. But I'll be in my 890 laughing.
i think time will give us 7 missiles if when the ship died had 7.... dont forget when you kill a polaris you can strip it of its torps saving you a ton of money. real life there isnt anything more lethal than a missile but they cost millions and require very high rank for authorization... in game missiles are lacking in accuracy!!!! they should be more accurate! but flack and flairs should mitigate missile success
I think this is a great move. This game is all about making your way through the verse and not get a free ride like most in the real world. If you think your are going to fly around in a capital ship without a team to help support it then you made a mistake in that procurement action.

Probably still not enough since you still need to turn a profit.

You hit on bugs too, which are a problem with the cost increases/insurance change due to current server conditions.

It should be between 750k-1.5 million to rearm max. And yet, torps are ineffective most of the time so even that seems to be overpricing their value.
It takes 1.5 to repair one after fair amount if damage. We are looking at 3-4 million after a fight.
When we claim our car on insurance, do they include the rires? What's the ploint of LTI
On ships with many torpedoes it sure nerfs insurance some, just waiting to see just how much it does so in final price when this hits Live.
