Pretty much my review summed up here as well. A really fun game - lots to see and do, interesting group dynamics, excellent movement + combat. I don't feel obligated to grind. I can play a handful of matches and be content for the day. This is the way.
I think one of the things that would make it a mainstay for me is if they start doing collabs with other mech IPs like Evangelion, Gundam, Ray Earth, 5-Star Stories, Code Geass, etc. and make the collabs compelling events, along the lines of Naraka Bladepoint seasons. Then I think it would have some major staying power.
As a giant Battletech nerd, I'd argue that not being able to customize mechs too much is a blessing in disguise. Tabletop Battletech players are hyper-aware of how terrifyingly broken mechs can get if you let people build their own. Battletech theoretically balances that out with a lot of campaign sim elements like how rare and expensive components are, how hard they are to install and repair, stuff like that, but most people just play pick-up games and don't allow customs unless they're getting really silly. MechWarrior, Battletech's videogame spinoff series (and the Paradox's Battletech) embrace the game's extensive build system. That works in a single-player environment. In Mechwarrior Online, though... Oh boy. Everyone becomes a "boating" monster capable of deleting each other in one or two shots. The slowest mechs in the game move more like stock medium mechs. Systems that are supposed to impose major limitations are either bypassed, or people just slam the limitation into the ceiling becaue the benefit is good enough (shoot eight PPCs, shut down for ten seconds, don't care because you deleted someone). People sometimes run stock-only private matches and they're the most fun you can have actually playing the game. Even Armored Core 6's PvP suffers this problem to some extent. It seems like a way to have a huge degree of variety, but in practice it leads to a few parts being _the_ part to build for a specific build anyways, and to every build aiming to exploit the system in some way (usually by building around boost kicks these days). You can't make a mech really powerful but balanced out by being a paperweight or having tank treads for legs, people just avoid making either.
In that case, Mecha break is Overwatch but just in a Mecha concept. And we know what is happening with overwacht, people are losing interest. Same would happen with Mecha Break if they just stick with costomization with colors. There is not much exiting about that.
Battletech is sad as POS piranha bites has a strangle hold on it and won't do anything as they literally got no competition and the don't allow anyone to sell the old games. I'd say ghost heat was probably the best thing they ever did for balancing as the boating and alpha striking was cancer

The game is a lot of fun and it has that "hero shooter" feeling to it with mechs that use different kits and the like. Regarding the complaint about the lack of mech customization, first of all, I agree 100%, but its not an issue for me personally because I see this game more like a Gundam pvp game than a proper mech game like AC6 for example. all in all, its free, give it a try and if you are looking for a casual game to put some time in, this is one of the better options right now.
To be honest this just makes me want Gundam Versus even more. If this game can even rival just a bit to the Gundam Versus IP then I'm definitely getting on it.

The only scary thing is paying money for mods. Unlocking characters, who cares, you have to do that in plenty of games and it's not a big deal. I also think if you can't customize your mechs load out, that's probably good too. There already seems to be a lot to keep track of so adding different load outs to that can become too complicated. Then on top of that you have to balance all of it. Really the only thing that I'm worried about it the mods. That could get pretty ugly pretty fast.
I love the sniper mech. I've always wanted to play a sniper with an invis. It's so fun all though as I played more people started to focus me more which is also enjoyable. because she is quite slippery.
at 6:00 i didnt even think of customization. It would be so sick if you could have like a melee build on the invis mech it would feel so much like an assassin. Maybe in the future they do that.
Agree, I was also hoping you could basically build your own mech. I think you can at least change colors (welp). If they don't change this design (and I think it's too far in development for it to change) I hope they at least add quite a few more mechs, I'm definitely missing a sword and claw (want to have some Code Geass fantasy)
Fun game. Not really motivated to play much anymore since it's beta. Put in around 12 hrs. I don't like putting in effort when everything will be wiped, so I just tried the mechs with playstyles I was interested in. I'm not sure how the monetization will turn out, but hopefully it's not terrible at launch. I noticed Inferno was in the paid BP. God I hope they don't lock mechs behind paywalls. Mech and pilot skins should be good bp items. Anything that doesn't encourage pay2win. I know that a lot of popular Chinese pvp games have pay2win, but hopefully not this one.
I believe the devs made a statement saying the equipment customization might be a thing they are considering on but they're more focused on getting the games core right with Stryker being unique and balanced for the most part, sucks there's not many maps but honestly I'd rather the mechs feel fantastic and balanced with tons of counter play that is fun and engaging so its better the devs focus on the most important part of the game, which in case anyone cant still tell, its the mechs not so much our pilots which is funny people are getting upset with the game body sliders already, lousy Anime/Mecha "tourists" will complain about everything till they go braindead. This game is an absolute win for fellow gundam fans who are upset with bandai's cash grab that was Gundam evolution so once again it takes a non Gundam game to be the better gundam game😅
Gundam Breaker 4 does exist though at the end of the month, I'm very hype for it despite only being familiar with Witch from Mercury (and all of the Armored Core Games now). Hopefully it's good.
@@Mugthief true im contemplating on if im gonna bother to get it, idk graphics aren't necessarily everything to me but i hardly play anime games because the graphics of the worlds environment looks outdated like a ps3 game standards, definitely support anime graphics that is being more common like ZZZ or genshin not that i really play those game much but they look a lot better than what is common from bandai graphic standards.
@@Mugthief well considering Gundam anime is probably gonna be a thing you'll see often in Mecha break global chat thanks to folks like me who will be gundam geeks in chat with tons of gundam references like "Sieg Zeon" or "Newtype" If gundam WFM is the only one you have seen and are interested in watching some more, A good one that got me into gundam was iron blooded orphans or Gundam OO then you could watch the classic like the og MSG gundam 0079 which is the first gundam and is the longest running timeline that is the universal century which is kinda a lot to factor in as every gundam has their own timeline and not many are connected but UC has many shows in like Gundam Zeta and Gundam ZZ and the most popular one is say is Gundam Unicorn and Hathaway. Anyways if you're interested in diving more into gundam there's some good shows to start with, WFM isn't all that bad but there is some debate on it being "good" i personally enjoyed WFM but will agree the actual conflict to a long time to break out in full violence that is often in gundam, WFM was more highschool drama than proper gundam but WFM season two was great with its developments though i wish WFM got a season three but that probably wont happen.
@@PepperoniRonin. Ah okay idk i just remember seeing some stuff on social apps with numbers of people wanting to boycott games like snowbreak and Genshin because of their focus on fan services is too pervy but in truth its more so because tons of the English VA are extreme woke leftist trying to push some stupid narrative that breaks off the original source material. Mecha break could win some GOTY awards or something but i think this year and next year has some competition(not that Star wars outlaws will win any😂)
I think having to purchase or earn each mech is going to kill the game tbh. Also any kind of mod that can be purchased is always a bad sign. Monetizing on anything that isn't cosmetics is bad.
What's lacking for you is the same as for most of us, permanence, nothing you are seeing will probably be the same when they release the game in 8 months and nothing you get u will keep, also not having 2 of the 3 game modes and getting everything from the beginning removes the sense of progression I've played 20h, but if it was not the beta I would have played it non stop. Also we don't know how the final version of the battle pass will be, the actual BP has mods cause the game mode in which u can farm them is disabled.
Mechs? Look great. Gameplay? Seems solid. Those microtransactions and the long term viability of it are what kinda deter me from the whole thing. I think I'll give it a Palpatine "I'll be watching your career with great interest." I still need something to convince me to take the plunge, and I don't think I'm there just yet. Maybe the TTK is a bit too high? I don't know. I'll watch and see.
@@Tazacks haha, I get ya. It's just that I'm an old man now and don't have as much time as I'd like to play a wide selection of games anymore, so I only spend time on what I think has potential to be 10/10 for ME (my personal taste, not 10/10 critically or whatever, because I definitely don't like a lot of games the majority seems to enjoy). So it's less about checks and balances and more about "is this something I can see myself giving up another game to play in my off time?" If I was younger and had more time available to me, I wouldn't think twice about spending some hours on it, problems be damned. Getting older makes being a gamer harder, that's for sure!
@@yslaar its not worth to play Multiplayer PVP on old age its so much better play AAA Like RDR2 or if you still interested on mecha games it so much better playing Armored Core 6 Those offline AAA with ending is so much Fun rather than Repetitive PVP that you cannot escape through the dopamine

This is another big budget title from a company that previously made F2P/P2W titles including a gacha game using the big earnings to fund something less predatory or non predatory which they are passionate about but which is almost guaranteed to be less profitable. That seems to be the way for gamedev going forward.
I love the flying transformation mechs Falcon and Skyraider but mahn do the controls need some work. I would rather it be like battlefield jet controls and you are only allowed to lock on to targets in front of you in jet form but you control altitude with the mouse. Also about the characters, this is the kind of game where you make a female character ESPECIALLY coz of the animation when getting into a mech when a match starts. My heart goes out to all the dudes that have to stare at a dude's ass every time a match starts 😂. I made a female character coz my thinking is if it is a role playing game where like BG3 I will make a representation of myself in that universe, so a dude character that looks kinda like me, but if it is not 100% making a female character. PS: The devs of this game made one other game called Snowbreak: Containment Zone b4 this which has a very very interesting history to look into. Knowing this explains a lot of stuff 😂.
Damn, I thought this looked really good until I figured out it was free to play AND multiplayer 😑 This is a business model, not a game. At least I can't say I'm starved for mech content, because Armored Core 6 was pretty good.
Personally, I'd like something like this but with Mech Warrior style mechs, slower, land based, but still third-person and modernized to be more accesible than games like Mech Warrior Online.
The PC port is a bit garbage, but Gundam Battle Operation 2 is essentially what you're talking about. Very grounded, heavy units. Its exclusively the Universal Century timeline of gundam, so they are very much military equipment and move like it. There are costs that indicate the overall power rating of the suit, and matches are cost locked, so a 500 cost suit will only play with other 450-500 cost suits, etc. Its a kind of hybrid between a shooter and fighting game, imagine if you could boost forward and melee confirm after stunning with an LRM20 slavo in an Atlas.
Slow mech games are cool but imma be real with you, they are literally the equivalent of just playing a slow paced fps. Like realistically speaking if you cant abuse the movement of a mech whats the difference between a mech and a normal person with a gun? Even a game like ur talking about (mechassault 1/2) has jumpjets and is pretty decently fast paced. The BEST slowpaced mech game has to be chrome hounds
I'd only be interested if it had a decent amount of PVE/Co-op. I can't get into pure-pvp games, they just get very bland and tiresome and players just chase the meta, and you tend to get bottlenecked into either also chasing the meta, or just not having a chance to win.
@@raptros there are, just not outside of Japan, unfortunately. I don't understand why Bandai just won't bring it outside of Japan even when Gundam nowadays gets peak notoriety
they likely copy the same monetization as their current game snow break containment you able which you gamble with pulls for character if want their weapon roll another banner both has pity grantee certain amount pulls grantee you 1 copy ,and their gearing again if spend you get more chances of good gear with the best event gear grind the time limited event. this what i expect from the game as player of their current snow break containment.
Yeah I had a shit ton of fun for the first 5 minutes. Until they revealed to me in the next menu that it's a live service with the multiple coins. This got deleted shortly after. I'm sick and tired of live service games. This game could be so good but it will not last with this model. What happened to us just having $60 games with all of the content and then optional content later on? This is so tiring. 😩
Bro plays skinseller 2 and is saying he’s worried about progression and game modes. I’m pretty sure this is more game mode than Overwatch already and overwatch is on it’s sequel lmao
Im avoiding this like the plague. The quality of a game these days is irrelevant if it can't be monetized to hell. The devs have a history of putting predatory f2p mechanics. I'm beyond burnt out on competetive multiplayer games and this is no different to me even as an enjoyer of mecha.
played it for an hour, was going up against exclusively bots/ai. safe to say the game will be dead on arrival. mechanically it plays pretty fun, but its dead before it even releases, im playing against all bots every match.
My thoughts are will this live service endure or will be buried right next to Gundam evolution that deserved to die when i could not find a match for an hour after it finished done downloading right away and the stupid control scheme that you couldn't reconfigure that made lose alot
here is the thing if to gain stats you have to lose stats your not net stronger you just play different or focused , i do not think it is fair to call that advantage this early in development . but i share you same concerns with pay to win.. it is their game to mess up at this point
This game it's not really targeted at Overwatch\"hero shoter" fans but instead it it's targetd at the Gundam Extreme VS series fans... The game is the most popular "fighting game"(its similar to mecha break but it has only 2v2 arena mode) in the Japan... The game make millions on the arcade and the company behind it only release it to console after 2 new versions have been released to arcades... that's to be sure that the home experience is inferior and the money keep flowing.... They don't even release the game in the West so you know that people over here are hungry.... Just search about the Gundam Extreme Vs series and you will understand who is the real target audience for Mecha Break
It's RUclips doing AB Testing, and changing the rules on how they do it. If it's happening to you on my channel, get ready for it to happen with most channels.
This is the TRUE Gundam game we never got on PC....Bandai Namco could have done the same but they didn't so I'll be spending my money on Mecha Break MTX.... The AAA industry in the West has been killed by DEI. Thank god we still have actual game devs left in the East.
bandai too has gone the way of the west, with dei localizers, greedy low effort slop games, caring solely about profit and nothing else, they are essentially the EA of japan now.
Mecha genre veteran here: Mecha Break's movement feels NOTHING like any armored core game, and ive played nearly all of the AC games. This game's movement "feel" is terrible if you compare the two. Im not trying to put this game down because I want more mecha games out there but its the worst ive ever played. Its like "walking in mud up to your waist line" slow, but then there are speed movements that fling you across the map like a bullet so the balance is terrible. Im not sure what they were going for with this but if your coming from Armored Core, your going to hate the movement. If your coming from Mech Warrior, its even slower than that at the base speed but then suddenly its way too fast with some melee attacks. Like, comical "anime" fast. If your coming from a gundam game, its going to feel like your controls are broken. Lol. They need to raise the base movement speed 2x-3x because its weird that you move slow as molases but yet your mech can do all these lightning fast twirls and spin melee attacks. like, if you were able to move that quickly the whole time, why cant you walk in any direction that fasy too? As foe the weapons, it definitly feels like this was built on top of a pay-to-win game that was reskinned for mechas where the intention is for you to use real money to buy better weapons to win games. It has that written all over it.
I know what you are missing. What you are missing is personalizing your mecha, to make it completely your own creation/design. For example, if you could change the arm, chest, legs, engine, head, that would be great, what would make it even better is changing the skill that each mecha has. You could have the Alysis mecha witth the Trans-Arms (like gundam 00) effect of the Inferno. That would be epic! Or creating you mecha with 4 miniguns like Heavy-Arms from gundam wing series. Right now Mecha Break to me is Like Overwatch, thats it. If the are going to reproduce what overwatch did players will lose intrest. But if they can somehow implement players to Build their own mecha, with healing abilities, or more fire power, or ultimate Defence, or mecha that is pure Melee base.... It would force players, to be strategic with their builds and have multiple builds. Just let that sink in for a bit.
People who think customization like this is a good idea dont play video games. What will happen is people will find the best build and run that. Just look at fking ac6 and how terrible that runs or literally ANY mmorpg on the market with pvp. THEY SUCK.
@@leessoon Slow down Cow-boy, Mecha break is going to do what Overwatch has been doing. The concept is the same, but just a mecha theme. If the dev keep going into that direction then its just a matter of time their player base will drop. Game activity will drop, surely you dont believe that sticking just to changing colors on your mecha is going to satisfy the players? And besides they have ""Mods"" that can boost player mecha, so the same ol same ol is going to happen what happened to AC6. And dont forget release date is scheduled for 2025, gues what is also dropping in 2025, GTA6 . Mecha break is therefore not excluded to be overshadowd. Most mecha break players cant play it for 5-6 hours straight, So yeahm the Dev better come with some epic customization, to let players create their dream mecha...
@@OMalllysongzWhy can't we have mecha games that don't have that kind of customization after all not everyone enjoys those games like not every mecha game has to be like that. @@LordGlacier7 Some players dont want to think/do homework? Then go play crach Bandicoot, spyro the dragon or power puff girls. Plenty enough games where you do not have to do homework. You can have mecha games that don't have that kind of customization. And As much there are players that not enjoy such customization there are plenty that do enjoy such customization. Its not just because of the customization they like/dislike it. It is about what comes with the customization. The players that dislike it just need to step their game on, if they want to compete, then work on your skills. Dont forget! Mecha break has Mods, those mods can make any mecha OP and now the players that dislike such customization are back again with their dislike. Just work on how you play.
@@OMalllysongz I'm against the mods and they can much easily remove it as feature than completely changing their game.
I think it could be an incredibly good game if it was pay to play instead of f2p with heavy monetization.
couldnt agree more.
This company made Snow Break, it's a simple PvE shooter with waifus, and they give you tons of characters easily, and skins are well-priced.
Yo this is like the old robotech games. I’m so excited for this!
great review, super informative and objective
Much appreciated!
i hoped this will have more pve missions but it's just a rly well polished mini map pvp game instead
This and steel hunters look like amazing mech games.
I will support this wholeheartedly until they make it Pay 2 Win
Lots of diecast mech figures may be created in the future because of this, and I love that prospect
People are upset coz of the sliders? All I have been seeing is people saying its GOTY coz of the sliders 😂😂
@@Mugthief well considering Gundam anime is probably gonna be a thing you'll see often in Mecha break global chat thanks to folks like me who will be gundam geeks in chat with tons of gundam references like "Sieg Zeon" or "Newtype"
If gundam WFM is the only one you have seen and are interested in watching some more, A good one that got me into gundam was iron blooded orphans or Gundam OO then you could watch the classic like the og MSG gundam 0079 which is the first gundam and is the longest running timeline that is the universal century which is kinda a lot to factor in as every gundam has their own timeline and not many are connected but UC has many shows in like Gundam Zeta and Gundam ZZ and the most popular one is say is Gundam Unicorn and Hathaway.
Mecha break could win some GOTY awards or something but i think this year and next year has some competition(not that Star wars outlaws will win any😂)
Ngl bamco is gonna get their rug pulled from beneath their feet .
I think having to purchase or earn each mech is going to kill the game tbh. Also any kind of mod that can be purchased is always a bad sign. Monetizing on anything that isn't cosmetics is bad.
i was hping that MS would show a new mech assault. instead we got this and now im seeing this video and saying its good im excited
Maaan just got starfox 64 vibes from watching that falcon
i missed the beta :( can not wait
This is a hero shooter with a mech skin.
this IS the game for me NGL
Mechs? Look great.
Just try it already, it's lots of fun. Not everything has to be a careful consideration of checks and balances.
So it's less about checks and balances and more about "is this something I can see myself giving up another game to play in my off time?"
If I was younger and had more time available to me, I wouldn't think twice about spending some hours on it, problems be damned. Getting older makes being a gamer harder, that's for sure!

its not worth to play
Multiplayer PVP on old age
its so much better play AAA
Like RDR2 or if you still interested on mecha games it so much better playing Armored Core 6
Those offline AAA with ending
is so much Fun rather than Repetitive PVP that you cannot escape through the dopamine
I see you've also embraced the Welkin supremacy.
I cant believe a mech can make rage so hard
Not a fan of armor core /mech types but looks cool and I hope does very well .
Theres no shop in the game but im waiting to see what they do on release
Crazy that there's no invert mouse option.
Is the game only arena PVP? kinda hoping to have big map with big players count to battle with, imagine a battlefield style mech all out war
this game is like armored core and gundam versus had a baby
Big and bulky mechs kinda remind me Armored Core V/Verdict Day
Screw this, the only Mech game I want is a sequel to Metal Arms.
I loved Armored Core 6, completed it did most of the trophies. I don't do pvp games much though so this will be a pass, but it looks insanely good.
I like not changing the mec much I think of those game as a hero arena shooter with mecs and I fkn love it just needs a non sweaty af ranked mode. Possible change your perspective slightly
It's disappointing that it's a pvp only game. I really want more Armored Core, I wish FS would make the entire series available on Steam.
This is another big budget title from a company that previously made F2P/P2W titles including a gacha game using the big earnings to fund something less predatory or non predatory which they are passionate about but which is almost guaranteed to be less profitable. That seems to be the way for gamedev going forward.
this looks like it has a lot of animation locks
Cautious optimism. ⚠️
Emphasis on cautious ⚠️
I'll stick with gundam breakers 4 and armored core 6
love mechs and always have since gungriffon and virtua on but why does everything have to be online.
What’s the beta for? And for What platforms and how long??
it does not have invert mouse controls
Man i hate panther... BUT HES SO COOL AND FUN TO PLAY.... but fighting against him is fkin painful 😭
Damn, I thought this looked really good until I figured out it was free to play AND multiplayer 😑
This is a business model, not a game. At least I can't say I'm starved for mech content, because Armored Core 6 was pretty good.
Make a Mecha Break again.
Tbh honest that sounds like you need Armored Core Verdict day… that is if you can properly emulate it/afford a disc copy
Virtual On vibes
There is too much happening in my eyes I don't even know what is happening.. or just me?
I'd only be interested if it had a decent amount of PVE/Co-op. I can't get into pure-pvp games, they just get very bland and tiresome and players just chase the meta, and you tend to get bottlenecked into either also chasing the meta, or just not having a chance to win.
There’s 2 or 3 modes not playable in the play test that seem to be more PVE based, plus solo missions for mech mastery
Panther is over-tuned. That mech has waay too much CC way too often. Enjoying the game though.
No fighting mecha games? Gundam vs series?
Gundam vs. gets no love, i swear... The deepest mech/arena fighter and nobody plays it.
I would consider it amazing if we had proper PVE with it... we have enough rage fest competitive games already
They know how to make them rich and thick 😉
As soon as I herd pvp only I was out I’m not playing this
any release date yet?
Bro plays skinseller 2 and is saying he’s worried about progression and game modes.
I’m pretty sure this is more game mode than Overwatch already and overwatch is on it’s sequel lmao
It's very fun. Got to gold2. But I think it will be crazy with micro transactions. Maybe pay to win. Just my guess.
Im avoiding this like the plague. The quality of a game these days is irrelevant if it can't be monetized to hell. The devs have a history of putting predatory f2p mechanics. I'm beyond burnt out on competetive multiplayer games and this is no different to me even as an enjoyer of mecha.
Competitive games aren't what they used to be.:(
Competitive games aren't what they used to be.:(
Damn shame, the combat lots really fun and plays the way a mech game should play.
Gamers nowadays will do anything except actually play games lmfao
played it for an hour, was going up against exclusively bots/ai. safe to say the game will be dead on arrival. mechanically it plays pretty fun, but its dead before it even releases, im playing against all bots every match.
i came here from super mecha champions
My thoughts are will this live service endure or will be buried right next to Gundam evolution that deserved to die when i could not find a match for an hour after it finished done downloading right away and the stupid control scheme that you couldn't reconfigure that made lose alot
So no PvE mission mode?
here is the thing if to gain stats you have to lose stats your not net stronger you just play different or focused , i do not think it is fair to call that advantage this early in development .
but i share you same concerns with pay to win.. it is their game to mess up at this point
Ah yes China Armored Core
Wait is this a f2p? I feel like the transactions on this could be cool but also quickly out of hand, its gonna have to be a wait and see.
So its a Moba.
I hate Welkin
Is this on console?
It will be, just the beta is only on steam right now
eh, titanfall can't be beat in terms of mech games.
Is it on PS5?
Will be later, not for the beta tests. I reckon it'll work great with Controller btw.
@@Mugthief I've been playing the beta test with an Xbox controller. It plays fantastically.
You keep changing your thumbnails and its always confusing, is it a second video but the same topic or is it the same video?

It has that written all over it.
we dont care about customization. That thing killed all games since 2006 / Stop asking for Customising things.
This game is a complete and utter trash, insane disappointment. There is nothing good about it tbh.
Can't wait to create my wifu in this game 🌝
Look at Titanfall 2 it did just fine without fully customizable mech so can we just have some mecha games that are more simple and easy to get into and not require you to do homework. I mean hey y'all got ac6 so how about fans like me get Mecha break.
Why can't we get mecha games without and with such complex customization and why must they do all of that homework to just play a mecha game. Just because a game is a mecha game doesn't mean he has to have a fully customizable mech.
Trash! 😂
It's so fucking bad.
Teammates are terrible. You will be ganked and killed. Some mechs are more powerful than others. Jets hardly last long enough in real fights. Weapon damage is trash. Eh
