Making a lid box
original composed of two different types of wood, sipo and ash.
In this video you will be able to see the work of deep and fine digging of the bowl, the adjustment of the lid and the inlays of fine wood edging.
On the lid and as handles are made two small oval-shaped pieces themselves made of two types of wood.
The finish here is achieved with gloss varnish in several layers to highlight the beauty of the wood.

Wow Awesome Lidded Bowl !! 😎👍🏁🏁🏁🏁
Hi Kirk Johnson
I’m very glad you like it 😊❤️❤️
I had the honour and privilege of maintaining a “MASSIVE” dining table in a private home it seated approx 16 people. It was of SISSOO Wood and was once owned by Napoleon 111. I have a photo should you care to see it. It hosted Royalty amongst the many guested who stayed with us.
A truly beautiful piece of timber, we mixed our own polishes to bring out the best and remove little accidents/spillages. It had 6 ins. Carving on the top edging all the way around.
Hi John
it's always impressive to see how wood can go through time without problems and thus testify to the centuries passing 😃🧐😉👍

I am very happy that you appreciate my work 😊
and hello to South West Australians 😉
Sepo is one of my favourite timbers (along with Olive), and although some say that it is not as good as Mahogany, I think that it is nicer. My father, a qualified cabinet maker, made a modern style chair from it that had the most beautiful graining. I would never have thought of combining it with Ash, yet the pairing is stunning. This is quite possibly my favourite piece on this channel, I'd be proud to have an item of this quality in my collection of treen.
Thank you very much for your comment, I am very happy that you appreciate my work 😊💖💖

Sim, o folheado é interessante pelas inúmeras possibilidades que nos oferece, além de ser econômico porque evita o uso de placas inteiras para fazer uma rede simples🙏

Fantastisch, een pracht stuk vg Adrie
Hallo Adrie Wessendorp, Hartelijk dank voor uw reactie.
Gorgeous 💖 The skill level required to make this breath-taking piece is phenomenal. You are truly gifted.
Good evening Jen C Stephen's, Thank you very much for your generous comment!
Hi,
Thanks for sharing this lovely box project; the end result is excellent.
I'm rather concerned how you hold the wire for wire burning and hope it doesn't encourage others to do likewise; the wire should for safety be fitted with a pair of handles and never ever wrapped around the hand or fingers; if the wire grabs it's possible to lose fingers in a blink.
Kind regards, Colin.
Hi Colin Wood,
Thank you for your comment .
You are right it is dangerous to hold the thread with your fingers, it is for these reasons that I clearly indicated in the description under the video that it was not necessary to reproduce what I am doing.
Don't worry, I'm not holding the wire wrapped around the fingers but simply pinched.

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply which I appreciate. I didn't want to criticize in any way but I know lots of novices view these excellent videos. Woodturning is addictive though isn't it and there's no known cure; I've worked with lathes both woodturning and metal turning for over 50 years and never get bored.
Kindest regards, Colin.
You do beautiful work and the bowl/ box is great. Be nice if you would explain how and what your doing. Or do a voice over.
Hi Jon Sayre, Thank you for your comment. Good idea, I'll think about it.🤔
BAW Breizh art wood A lot of wood turner’s like me are still trying to learn what your doing and tools your using.
Very pretty and a nice job of making it. Excellent choice of wood as well.
What was the finish you sprayed on? Looks like you did it over abrasive paste? Sure looks nice.
Take care,
Gary
Hi ThePapa 1947 ,
Thank you very much for your comment. I also watch your videos and I appreciate your work 😉
Hi I appreciate you watching my work as well. And I will be following what you do now.
Take care,
Gary
I am subscribed to both of your channels, Morgan, and Gary. I love how both of you add levels of beauty, intricacy, and interest to you turnings.
@@drgruber57 thank you!
Thanks Dave 😉❤️
Very nice,What tree did you use for the trunk?
Necdet Çelik
Thank you very much for the comment😉👍
I used sipo.
Did you produce the veneer yourself and, if so, is there a link?
Hi Steve Newport,
Yes I produce my veneer myself, I haven't made a video about it but I'll think about it next time, thanks for your comment 😉
I would have cut layer glue in ash or pine for white effects
It's ash 😉
At time you appear to be cutting from the back side of the project. Why?
Hi Skip Evans
Excuse me but I don't understand what you mean?
I'm wondering if you couldn't have filled the gap at 9:47 with some wood glue and saw dust from that blond piece of wood.
Hi Morgan
It wouldn't have had the same effect.
@@bawbreizhartwood ??? it would have only covered up the seam where the two pieces met.
This box came out amazing!! Great work with the inlay I do it as a solid piece all the way through but I like how its not visible from the inside.. without me self promoting would you please have a look at my channel and tell me what you think or where I'm going wrong thanks Dan Metcalfe-hall (wheelsdan)
Hi Wheelsdan
Thank you for your comment, I am very happy that you appreciate my work 😊💖
Indeed the purpose of this inlay was to make it visible only from the outside 👍😊
Would be good to have simple captions just to explain things like what sealer, and what polish you use. Excellent work though
