This is something Adobe needs to work on. A built-in physics engine in AE would definitely make life easier for many kinds of animations. My inspiration in this regard is Blender, which gives you so many physics simulations (gravity, cloth, rubber, collisions, wind, you name it) out of the box, all of that without any billion-dollar company backing them.
Thanks for the tutorial it's great! The 'Box of Things' animation you did at the start - how is you animate the world itself as if the objects are tipping around a moving box?
Thank you for this! How would you go about having the object land on a specific target? So instead of setting up the vector, you'd be (somehow) setting up where it will land?
@@ECAbrams Ha ha, for those who don't play crokinole, the black space in the centre of the board is actually a hole, and as the button slides over it, it should drop or 'sink' into the hole. When it does, it's removed from play, and you get twenty points, or a '20'. So those those twenties should really sink! Great tutorial, as always!
Is it possible to clamp the rotation of shapes inside a simulation? For example, I don’t want the shapes in a simulation to have their rotation completely locked, but I don’t want them to rotate all over the place either. Basically, is there a way to tell to the simulation to not rotate the shapes between for example -22° and 22° ?
Thank you very much. I was actually having a pretty rough vocal day. To record, I'm speaking into a Shure SM7B connected through a Focusrite Clarette and a Fethead for added clean gain. I process the audio in Audition with a little noise reduction and some light eq but nothing really special. I don't know much audio tbh and it's been quite a process of little tweaks here and there.
I'm not sure one thing is better or worse. There are very few objective measures for these kinds of thing. I recommend you try both, as I think they both have trial versions, and decide which is best for you.
perhaps a shootout video is worth exploring. I do use both. But then I ball out of control with what plugins are at my disposal. I will say that PN is very much growing. So we may have a full comparison by end of summer.
Yes, a 'shootout' video, please. I was looking at Newton and just ran across your vid on PN tonight. Both have a trial - but I think your video (as always), would be very helpful.
@@ECAbrams looks fun! And I love the word hahaha. It's kinda similar to Boules in France / Bowles here in the UK but different that you have to hit the previous puck
Depends on how many times you land on a gig that requires heavy use of physics. If you do only physics stuff then Haudini will pay off. But if you don't AND everything else you do is motion graphics and editing/compositing then just use After Effects - it's very diverse. You can even pull off some crazy stuff with expressions - which I bet this script uses a lot(except if it is a plug in and everything is handled in the background).
Hard to say. Newton has more features but lacks flexibility. PN is lower cost, works entirely in the timeline, and is the simpler and faster of the two. The best move is to get the trial of both and make the choice based on real experience and your project needs.
@@LukaGroulx The accent of Kurzgesagt narrator? Maybe. I would assume they have a German accent because they are based out of Munich. My accent will remain Canadian though. I don't see that changing unless we get into silly voices around here... which I doubt would improve things.

2 days back I was just thinking if there are any good physics engine for After Effect and here we have it. I love this channel.
Newton3 from AE Scripts far far better. This physics engine has clearly been created from someone who has used Newton plugin script for AE
Hold shift while parenting..... oh baby. Another one of those things I would never know without your tuts. Great vid!
yeessss, awesome that you gave a quick overlook of how you did the design at the end

Lovely plugin, might just have to go cop a copy 🙌
Is this possible to make a collisions with 3d fruits with element 3d plugin and this one?
I am going INSANE that those 20s don't sink!
which 20 seconds don't sync with what?

Is it possible to allow different objects to overlap instead of bouncing on each other?

What mic do you use? Also how did you edit it?Do you also use any Audio Interface? Sounds epic!! :)

Cool..!! Will try soon..!!
thanks, Which one is better Physics Now or NewtonV3?

Thanks 👍🏿
how did you do the first example with the square and circles inside of it?
This is nice and all, but can you make a tutorial for a good carnitas recipe???
Would this work with element 3D??
Depends on what you want to see happen. What are your plans for mixing the two?
Physics NOW! or Newton4 ?? which way do I go??
Can you upload the project files, teacher?
*sorry for my english*
This was a while ago. I'm not sure where they are currently, sorry.
@@ECAbrams it's ok. Hope you can upload these files in recent videos !
i keep on getting reference error: object is invalid. any thoughts?
Are your layers linked to null objects? I noticed Physic Now gives me error messages when my layers are linked to null objetcs.
Newton 3 vs Physics NOW! ?

@@ECAbrams PN has most likely been developed by someone who got their ideas from using Newton plugin for AE.
Crokinole!
You know it! Some classic kitchen party games right there.
I've never heard of this game before but the word itself has been stuck in my head since I watched this video last night 😂
not a lot of people outside rural Canada know about the joys of crokinole. It's like curling but not on ice... another super Canadian thing.

@@LallyOfTheValley Love me some boules! Or bocce, or cornhole, or the ultimate: Kubb. All the yard games really.
Seems like Newton.
I'll stick to newton 👍
Just use Houdini! It save you tons of money for numerous plugins.
I can't say I've heard anyone use "just" and "Houdini" in the same sentence before.
@@ECAbrams Yep, you save money, but spend time for learning this software. :D

His voice sounds like the Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell voiceovers but with an American accent lol
I'll have to play up my natural Canadian accent next time.

If they want me for their voice overs I am here for it.

Sorry to see you go. We'll keep making tutorials either way.
