Started playing with friends last night and must admit the game looks great and the general gameplay is actually awesome. After 2 years of warzone this is a welcome change.
7 hours in game now. Still really confused with doing missions and finding good loot. T_T Update after 7 months from this post: the game is amazing (it got better for me after my first few hours of frustration and confusion on what to do). The community is also amazing. I found friends and clanmates I can do missions, raids, dungeons, and other activities with. Oh man, getting new exotics and trying them out is a blast (I have some good stuff now, yey). I got more into the lore too. It's really the people playing the game (aside from the game itself) that makes you want to play more. I had many good memories with friends in Destiny 2. I hope people don't quit from the initial frustration. There's so much to explore in Destiny especially with the new expansion coming next year. This beginner guide really helped me starting this game.

You're basically hand-held for the first few missions, it never gets complicated but, on the surface, does seem like a lot. I've been playing from the beginning of D1 and D2. Amazing games!
Playing the “beginner campaign” really helps you rank up to 1200. Just make sure you grab plenty of bounties before you start it. Kinda sad the Cosmodrome doesn’t include the exotic AR from D1, but it’s awesome to revisit the old turf.
@@HeadCRasher666 The “New Light” campaign. It’s for players who are new to D2, but veterans don’t really need it. I only played it for the extra XP. The Kavostov AR had a quest in D1 that made it exotic with customizable perks.
My favorite thing to do in the starter mission when I was making my other 2 profiles was to use the companion app to drop in an old fashioned, falling guillotine, and riskrunner, and just watch the enemies crumple under the sheer power of actually good weapons.
Slept on destiny for so long and my friends are getting me into it now. this video really helped me understand the systems and what to expect gameplay wise, thank you

I stopped playing Destiny 2 after completing the main story shortly after it initially came out. I decided to start playing it again a few weeks ago. I logged in and had absolutely no idea what I was looking at. Hence my visit to this lovely tutorial. I use to dominate in this game and now I barely grasp the basics.
I've been casually playing this game, on and off, for a couple of years now and I had no idea about all of the weapon mods, infusions and whatnot until I watched this. There's such a huge leaning curve for getting the most out of this game and it's really not in any tutorial or very apparent that you can do all of this. It's pretty overwhelming, actually. PSA: If you're trying to get friends into this game, definitely start with the story missions and such instead of trying to get them to join endless grinding for gear with you.
i just made a new caracter for fun and i was thinking to myself during playing Cosmodrome, i should have waited all these years to start playing this game, because you only need to play through Cosmodrome and you can start playing Europa. What took me like 4 hours. So there's a lot of story that is erased because of the worlds they vaulted, which is pretty sad, but makes the playing much faster.

I got like 2 or 3 legendary weapons before leaving the ruined russian area if forgot the name, and on the first actual mission if you kill a combatant with a launcher you can pick it up, that’s what I did at least. It’s very helpful for defeating the flying electronic meatballs. Use your sniper as well it will make it so much easier.
Just started playing and this really helps! Just a couple of questions for anyone who cares to answer. I'm on gamepass so I can install all the expansions, so is it worth doing this right away or should I wait till I have done everything in the vanilla game? The other thing I struggle with is the map system which I find confusing. In the old Destiny you just seemed to hop to a planet but in D 2 I find it confusing going where I want as it seems well confused lol
I remember i tried the first Destiny game when it first came out because i was a big fan of Bungie due to their Halo franchise (Halo 1-3) but i remember feeling confused as hell as to what i was really supposed to be doing and wtf the point of the game was. I just started playing again (haven't played since the original campaign when Destiny 2 first launched). It was not a good experience at first. My character was lower level than the characters Bungie just gave to me. When I selected my character, I spawned in the middle of some sort of game show I was woefully equipped for and kept dying. Eventually, I deleted that character and started a new one. I worked my way through the Forsaken campaign since it was going away and now I'm working my way through the Beyond Light campaign. I'm getting the hang of things, but I'm a bit confused sometimes still. I'm stuck on a campaign mission to do bounties in vanguard strikes. It took me a while to realize it was specific bounties from Zavala that are needed. Some of the bounties are hard to achieve, so I've done so many strikes just chipping away at them. Presumably, the campaign continues afterwards.

It wasn't the melee that was the deciding factor for me. It was the class ability. Melee's all just damage things in different ways, the rift, barricade and dodge are where they feel so divergent to me.

I loved destiny 1 so much and then the initial launch of destiny 2 - the first dlc before forsaken infuriated me. I just recently started playing again and this was very helpful cuz shit done changed

It wasn't the melee that was the deciding factor for me. It was the class ability. Melee's all just damage things in different ways, the rift, barricade and dodge are where they feel so divergent to me.
So I came to this video after playing destint for a while and learning stuff. I'm so mad I didnt know I could upgrade my little traveling robot lol.
