First rendition i hear that makes it both sound and look like a walk in a parc, the memory here is of such quality and clarity... so many details In the sound it's almost ridiculous

On imagine Vlado Perlemuter à Montfort-l'Amaury, recueillant les conseils du Maître. Oh que j'aurais aimé être la petite souris qui écoute sans déranger....
C est merveilleux. Même à 87 ans le son est inimitable.

Just read on Wikipedia that this guy was a protoge of Ravel himself. How cool!

Amazing performance by an 87-year-old. Guess he didn't suffer from arthritis.

rare ,,,RARELY do we hear anyone play that opening line with such TRUE articulation of the 32nd notes...and the melodic line is played in a legato...finger legato...manner that has a CONTINUITY ....this is VERY rare...and most difficult to do...---another way of explaining : he creates the shimmering and atmosphere WITHOUT blurring the tiny rythmic groups...of 32nd notes...while also NOT relying on the PEDAL to create a SOSTENUTO melodic line...
still another way of explaining...IMAGINE AN instrument that LACKS the pedal sostenuto...as if one were playing bach....play it that way....and THEN apply a pedal effect afterwards...THAT is truly a

The opening calls for the pedal to be held down for most of the intro. I feel most pianist open the pedal completely. There’s different effects gained from opening the pedal, 1/4 way, 1/2 way, 3/4 way, and fully. Most pianist fully open the pedal which makes the sound mushy and blurry…
