Yep. Talking takes courage. We all, at least partly, go through it. I managed most of it by:
      - reducing coffee to 1 per day, only morning,
      - do at least a light amount of physical activity everyday,
      - see the sun/outside air 1st hour in the morning,
      - express the need to take time for yourself, without looking at your watch and feeling culprit of not "producing" anything.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's back in 2010 and also have ADHD. It was tricky getting a diagnosis even back then so I have no idea what it is like now. Just remember whatever the outcome at the end of the day you are still you. I struggled for years with my diagnosis because I thought I belonged in this convenient box that people like to put you in but I realized it doesn't work like that. Just carry on being you. I hope everything works out for you.

  • @petertreadway

I can fully relate to all of this!
We’ve just had an ADHD diagnosis for my 10 year old son and having been through all the forms and doctor visits, it’s made me realise that has clearly inherited it from me!
I’ll probably never get a diagnosis for myself because, as you point out, it’s unlikely to change my life any significant amount if I do. I just know how difficult it is for me to keep a consistent schedule or to concentrate on anything for too long!
It’s been so hard just to keep up a weekly video posting schedule on here for the last couple of months, despite knowing my end goal is to achieve the sort of success you, Katie and Francis have. As you allude to though, you just need to keep that result in mind, and ultimately that’s getting paid to be your own boss, whilst doing something you love.
Definitely don’t stress about the content you’re putting out though. People watch you for you and your thoughts/feelings/commentary, so just keep on keeping on.
    Big love, buddy. 👌🏻

So I was diagnosed when I was younger with severe dyslexia but it isn’t till now I realize I have a form of ADHD through my dyslexia. About 50 to 60% of people who have ADHD have some form of learning difficulty. I hated being dyslexic but as I get older I’m learning to except it. Like you I’m a lover of bikes it my passion. My brother is on the Autism Spectrum and has ADHD along with Obsessives Compulsive Disorder. He can talk really quickly and jumps from one subject to the other, most people get confused when he talks. I think you do have those traits and maybe having a diagnosis will help you, my brother was diagnosed late in life and I think it helped him come to terms and understand himself better. Now, let’s get this straight, people watch your channel for you, not just for bikes, we can get bike content anywhere but we’re here for you. I’m currently waiting on an ADHD diagnosis for my son, the process is frustrating but worth it. My hubby Rob is diagnosed and medicated. He didn’t find out until he was in his 30s and it changed his life finally having that understanding about the hows and whys his beautiful brain works like it does.

It might make a massive difference, Dave. If you can get medication if needed, or counselling (as in practical support and strategies,) it could be huge! My auntie was diagnosed at 60+, her son is getting support, and his son has a diagnosis and is getting support. It’s been massive. I’m going via the NHS to pursue a diagnosis, and my kid is on a private waiting list and we’re trying to get her assessed before Uni next year. We tried to get my daughter assessed at school this year, but as she’s 17, they copped out and said it’s be easier to wait until she’s 18 and go via the NHS. We’re really fucked off about it because she’s not 18 until July, and it’ll take several years via the NHS, by which time she could be falling apart at Uni trying to live alone and study independently for the first time without any support. We felt the only way we could possibly try and get a diagnosis and some support before she goes is to pay privately. Thank god for credit cards!

Being ADHD does not make one “less than.” It just makes you different. I am massively ADHD. I’m medicated. But I’m also a successful trial lawyer. It’s all about figuring out how your brain works and embracing it.

@@DaveNoakes I am on stimulants. Frankly, they are all the same. The delivery system just varies from drug to drug. They really, really help. They, of course, do not affect me as they would someone without ADHD. I can, for instance, take my meds and fall asleep a half hour later.
The good news, Dave, is that if your doc tries you on stimulants, you will know very soon if they work for you. They will either help or they won't.

I've experienced the same with "autism".
You don't need a medical diagnose unless you want some sort of medical intervention (drugs or therapy) to cope with it.
If you are a functioning member of the society without the medical intervention, I would just go on living your life pretending that you are not ADHD.

    • @DaveNoakes

Don't throw your donut at the train, the train won't care and you won't have a donut. :) (and then you'll feel like a donut)
I really like the waffly vlogs, but don't stress about doing the odd advertising one. Even that scales ne - I've been thinking about smart scales for ages, so that was really interesting! :)
On the ADHD front, if a diagnosis helps you, either from getting treatment so you can deal with stuff better, or just from knowing and understanding and giving yourself less of a hard time, then that's good too.

I think health / life priorities have to come first. You see so many youtubers channels whereby it becomes everything. There must be a balance, must there ? Unless you you can make uber bucks quickly ? You also mentioned Anxiety linked to you tube / diagnosis. I think it's okay to give yourself a break whilst working through a diagnosis, take the time that you need, it sounds important!
