You know we've had a productive work weekend when there is a Wednesday upload!
Hi there, I am really enjoying your vlogs. You both give off a lot of good vibes. I had a thought that you could spill back some of the excess pump flow from the pump discharge to the drum so that you create the net flow you need to not deplete the reservoir. Hope this makes sense. Regards
Thank you Katie & Greg for sharing your building etc. You both are extremely tenacious workers and are to be admired for your diligence You are role models for many, I thank you again
A portable work surface/table to cut, drill, anything to NOT work bent over on the ground! At age 75 i assure you, it will shorten your backs lifespan! Maybe the metal frame from grinder delivery package? Glove up guys! Protect the hands!! So envious and love to watch the way you work together! ✌️❤️
hi,do your skirting first, then fix all window and doors so its ,is well insulated and put foam in the cracks.around them.
loving the acid techno in this video’
That Juniper is such a cutie 🐾
A cement-tiled shallow well with a concrete lid over the spring to feed water clean and accessible up to the house. Bury 1inch waterline below frost line with a small shallow well pump inside a small wooden pump house.
I love the way Katie says about, infectious
Get some huge water storage tanks and fill them up when the ground thaws out in the spring like we do in Australia sheep stations farms.
I like seeing the outdoor gymnast on the balance wood.
Yo! I did the same thing. Same setup. BUT. My kit came with 2, 100 watt panels and a controller. I put a car battery in a battery box and the pump uses the battery and it’s set to pump for 2 hours and then off for 30 min. My pump will pump all day, stop completely at night, and start again at dawn. The battery acts as capacity for the pump to run. Love watching your channel. Keep up the hard work! Don’t forget to put a shut off float on your pump so when the barrel empties it will shut pump off till barrel fills again. 😁😁😁
I put 60 mil EPDM under my deck in my house in Minnesota. I covered it with 1 1/2" washed rock.
AWESOME! LOOKING GOOD!
Oh boy is that little Juniper a cutie.
Really need to get windows and doors sealed before rain/snow gets in.
Saw you on BBC! Stay awesome!
didn't expect this upload, thought you were only doing Saturdays from now. not moaning love your content xx
We have a productive weekend, so had enough content for an extra vid 😁
you may need a stand pipe to provide pressure... the stand pipe if steel could be up to 24 inches in diameter and 15 feet high with a screen and solar panel cap...the water would be screened and deliver water under pressure to 60 lbs with gravity feeding the head pressure...and plate at the bottom can encapsulate the pipe and reduce to 1 inch ball valve to your buried pipe in the ground the bigger the better then deliver the fresh water to the homestead may have to drag it in but once you stand it up it will have a good source of head pressure and reserve build a small building around it to assure the critters are kept at bay...as well as temps
Everybody says summer is over. Stop that! 😁
Your homestead is coming along well.... Have you included insulating the floor joists on your must-do list?
Yes, it's on the list!
Congrats on making it into the BBC news !!!
Hi from my hospital bed in the 🇬🇧 another top video and good content stay safe out there
It was 91 here in Georgia today.
Don't know where you are but we hit 91 also in Rome
Keep up the great work you guys!!! Remember that you can't eat a T-bone steak in one bite! You enjoy it one bite at a time and by the time you are done the feeling of accomplishment is the true reward!!! The cabin will come together!!! ONE BITE AT A TIME 🕶
Hey guys I think that someone is trying to pass them self off as you people because I live in Bc. as well and the number they gave to get my free gift is not a Bc. Number and I'm sure you wouldn't just publish your phone number in public!!!! I hope that I am wrong but it not PROTECT yourselves 😎👣🇨🇦
In rural texas Rain water collection is a big deal many off the city water prefer this to well water which is 500 ft down. many of my neighbors use the roof to fill 10000 gallons of water and the sealed above ground tanks keep them going even in frequent drought
Little did they know how winter would surprise them soon
Wow.... lot off work. You wil make it work👍
Yoou have to keep the Solar Panel Clean, do not let it get dirty.
Hi Katie, Greg & fur babies! Thanks for all the great content! I get so afraid for you guy’s in that deep brush by the water hookup! Please be safe!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings
You guys read my mind with the skirting, that will definitely help keep that cold wind from blowing up under the house and chilling your floors. 🥶
that the way to put your shirting in,andput foam sheets inside and plywood on the outside.
I have built three houses up north in Ontario Canada when I was in my early 30s with four other people
Ah, my favorite canadian youtube couple, I pray that all goes well. I always look forward to spring as I am so dang old and hurt where new hurts just don't get my attention anymore. I see this struggle, wish that there was a stream on the property close and easy to maintain. I worry that some day a bear will be a mean one and its never good when they are. Of course, spring makes for those hungry bears and right now they are looking for a bedroom, not conflicts so there is that. I just want you in the home you built and warm. So spirits high and hopes of a wonderful christmas maybe??
Keep on keeping on, you’re doing great and the winter is coming, best of work for your projects, y’all will make it!
The skirting is a definite to do, and that rubber fabric will definitely be a plus for helping to insulate the plenum airspace for winter. The water portion of it though, I'm not sure with the gravel drain it'd be resting on. Love ya'll ❤️
You may find the voltage drop is to great when you extebd the length of the # 12 romex running a DC curcuit. I recommend checking with a qualtified electrician.
hi, when your skirting, clean all your stuff under the house first.
You might try sprinkling red pepper around, to repel the baby bear.
Hello Katie and Greg. Since everything is important to get done before winter, I have a suggestion. Make your list from hardest to complete or takes the most time to the easiest and the least amount of time to complete. Now, you make the choice of which way to complete the list. Have good days!
if you can put the water tank/cistern up hill that may be a bonus
I agree. If you can pump up to the cistern then it will be gravity fed to the house which is important if you are out of electricity or get less from the solar panel during the winter.
Saw an article about ye on the BBC New Channel.....ye are famous
wow
Nice video, thank you! Ron PTL USA
Juniper is the CUTEST 🥰 Easiest subscribe of our lives.
hi, drill a well.and no problems after that.
You guys do alright and you continue to amaze me but their hard work and dedication.
Those pesky bears!! :) Hopefully they leave the water lines, pumps and alll that alone.
Hi Greg & Katie & fur babies! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings
It's a fine start on the under pinning. Thanks!
Those little pumps are awesome. Barely use any power but you can get 50psi out of em no problem.
Consider using a hydraulic ram pump. No electricity is needed. There are multiple videos on RUclips about these.
got to give it to you guys, you get the job done. I'm confident you'll will eventually solve all of yours issues. that's why I watch
I glad y’all got your water fix .
All good things, blessings come from heaven - free gifts of grace! Thank the Lord for his gracious gifts, each day anew!
I can't wait to see this recycled siding thing you are starting. I would think that looking at that dried in house with another winter coming is nerve wracking. So close.....
killer job!
You guys make a great team.😁👍💪
Wow great start, not easy but you’ll get the skirting done and then the cover!
Simple..just do all the outdoor stuff..I suggest you build Removable Panels made of 2x2 -2 ft x 4ft..tack an Alu Foil on it..it will keep the temp going below Zero..below the house the water tank..keep it above 50..maybe install a heater or mini stove for the Nights when it goes below -20..Maybe have 2 summer panels just a mosquito net and frame..To make it look cute, add a trellis to it...with planters around the house..climbing vines that give Raisins.
you need one og those mini 20 volt chainsaws while trecking to the water spring and moving solar
as i said before raise that solar panel on top of metal pipe/like flag pole
Maybe have a capictor or battery buffer with that solar panel to cope with passing clouds?
I wish you all good for this winter //its not easy
@Text Me ①⑤⑦③③④⓪⑧②⑧① thanks I not in this game //have fun
Let me give you a tip I watched your video on your ceiling anytime you're standing softwood you're always wipe it down with middle spirit just before you're staying the ceiling will come out even and and every board will match is it the same thing with furniture made out of soft wood just food for thought
thanks
even electric fence run on the solar panel and battery already there
Long day, tired…. Even if you only apply one board for the frame, or one skirting panel each day, then it is one more then before. Providing some encouragement, looks great.
there are pumps you can build that dont need power they are called ram pumps and yes they do pump up hill maybe a little study to figure and build but they will pump 24/7 n Ive seen people use them all over the world. Justn look them up here on you tube and go from there Im guessing the instructions to build and use them are pretty much free .. Just my two cents
👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️ maybe some sort of bear proof cages to put around or over your water pumping supplies and solar panels that you use for your water supply??? Wanted to cheer when you got to the top with your solar panel 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😁😁😁😁
can you fence off the spring to keep bears and other animals out??
Awesome 👌
Y’all need to capture your rain water off your roof somehow to fill the water tank. I don’t know how it works with heavy snow but I’m sure there’s a way.
put your solar on a high stand ,where there is lots of sun, where yous can get easily too.and get a new pump for winter.
You need to wait yourself a shallow well and put a Sand Point down that way you've got water no matter what
Hey mid week video / so nice / thought you gave this up / your content good enough for one a day !!!!
We had a productive work weekend so lots of content
you guys are amazing
Siding is the least of your problem keep doing what your doing get the underside wintered in then water. Putting that frame work that tight to the ground your going to weary about the ground heaving up are you due to the frost
nice Pebbles hair-do
Siding!!!
Working on a offgrid homestead is never finished and when you think you are it starts all over again. Keep moving forward ☮️🙏☯️
Always busy, never bored!
@@ThisOffGridLife Exactly! Keeps us young 😂
I'm sure you 2 have thought of a solution for water hose and container system. Could it be like a metel box over blue water container and hose, so bears can't bite them!?
I like the idea of where you get your water suppy from is that the maximum does it vairy during year
we have noticed some variation during drier summers, or in the spring after the snow melts
Progress👍👍
Have you ever thought of building a wall around the spring, digging low below the water level and creating a well. Withe pump and more solar panels on a solid grid and batteries you should be able to get as much water as you want. I would gradually begin to dig the line and protect from animals and nature
Yes, we will have to hand dig a shallow well and the trench for the water line up the draw to the road where we can then use the tractor to continue the trench. It's a massive project
This one made ME tired just watching😂😂😂 you two work so hard. But while I know the list seems daunting.. progress is being made!! Good job!!😎
The longer the distance the less power you'll receive
May I offer my armchair homesteader suggestion, create redundancy by harvesting rainwater off your roof.
Could you not use a ram pump ?
Welcome to Southern Patriot… Here you can learn how to build your own Water Ram Pump.
I have a well.
Hey you two. Is there no one who can give you a hand before winter?
Nice
A serious question. I am assuming that you have termites in the area. That skirting on the ground looks like a perfect pathway into your main timber frame. Do you need to think about that?
You have appreciable line loss, you said the pump is not pumping as much as it was with full power. Is there a minimum voltage the pump requires? Not enough voltage to a motor can manage the motor.
I believe it takes 60 watts to run the pump. So with the line loss, we are breaking even with the water coming in and the water going out, which is great
Sure looks like you are going to need a well in the near future
Hello my dear friends
I thought you said bus was going. Sold??
Good morning you guys how you guys doing today hope you guys get everything set up the way you're supposed to set up I'll just go on down there and start doing the hole and start putting the piping you know make sure things are better but all right guys have a great day and I like your house everything is fine have a great day guys easy to start slowly taking stuff out of the bus that way you can sell the bus you know and you guys are all set you know make some extra money all right have a great day you guys
Is the cistern water tank above the house?
have u two thought about wind power
What a wonderful life you two are building for yourselves. Can you explain what a "water license" is? I am in South Carolina, U.S. so of course things are a little different...lol 😊 Take care you two!
We pay our government for water usage, and we have a right to a certain amount of water from that spring
Sure, we pay an annual fee for rights to take a certain amount of water, anyone taking surface water here should have one. No one enforces it unless you are caught for some reason, but if you don't get the license and someone else does get the license, they could then have first rights to use the water and you may lose out on the access to that water
Interesting, thank you for the explanation! I think certain states out west may have similar regulations. In the eastern half of the U.S. most states concur that if the water is on your land then it is inherently yours, no need to pay to use your own water. However, there are laws that state you may not unnaturally block the water from flowing onto other's lands thereby depleting their supplies or cause unnatural water flow onto other's land. Water...so weird. lol Take care 😊
Insulated under the house??
Bonjour mes chers amis
