Since the british brought in the Rohingya people from Bangladesh to fight for their war to topple the Myanmar kingdom in history. The british should offer citizenship to the Rohingya people, just like how they offers citizenship to the hongkong Chinese people. This is their Human Rights.

Graham Vermish A very biased lady who did not go far enough in history to the time prior to British time. There existed a community of people in what is today Rakhiine since time immemorial who became Muslims over time and they got along well with the the Buddhists community of the original Arakanese. The majority of today's Buddhists in Rakhiine state are the new comers who migrated into the region in 10th century.
No arguing that there were migration from what is now Bangladesh but this migration is not one direction nor did it occurs only during Brutus era. After all, the Rakine state formerly know as Arakanese was a part of Maurya empire.
This woman has the gall to bring in ISIS which came into existence just a few years ago while the plight of the Rohingyas had been occurring since 1970s.

I have sympathy to the suffering of all human being whether Muslim, Buddhist,Tao or Christian. The consecutive leaders of the Rakhine Muslim had make bad decision to fight for separation and merge with Pakistan from 1940, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 00, 10 and now in 2017 and Arakan Muslim just followed them with blind faith. The people of Burma and people of all national race despite them and regards them as traitors and would never be able to forgive their sins. Thus current conflict.
But if they convert to Buddhism, swear and act to be loyal to Burma, follow Burma law and orders, never to fight against Burma, respect Burma official religion Buddhism, ask for forgiveness for the wrongs and promise to live peacefully for the rest of their lives, then its possible there is some generosity from the people of Burma to think differently. If not, no a mount of pressure from UN, USA, UK, EU, OIC combined criticism, condemnation, economics sanction, embargo, is going to change the mind of government of Burma and the people of Burma.
The more the noise, the more the pressure, the more the condemnation, the more the people of Burma and the leadership of Burmese government are united to face the enemies of Burma outside or within Burma.

Maybe she is not fully aware of it or mostly ignorant about it in details. The US,the West , Soro are more interested in the natural resources ( oil/ gas) of Arakan state n not happy about China n Myanmar doing a joint business ventures in the area plus the Kyaukphyu seaport , China is establishing there. US has its Pivotal China foreign policy to contain the expanding military n economic powers of China n want to stop that by destabilizing the Arakan State using their OIC tool , formenting cinflcts n crisis in the region by covertly supporting n funding ARSA terrorists so - called Rohingya against Myanmar demonizing Myanmar with fake news/ reports helped by OIC funded UN ,Soro funded Rights Groups, Soro n Rothschild funded Western MSM.They are in collusion with OIC whose goal is to establish the independent Islamic State by carving out northern part of Myanmar’s Arakan State. Her narrative excluded the possible western and OIC collusion but I don’t think it was deliberate because it requires evidence and that is not so strong. Maybe that is why she refrained from saying anything that could not be backed with evidence. To me what is really disturbing is that the west has chosen to ignore all the evidence of aggressive migration and land grab and portray just the Muslim side of the story. You mentioned nothing but just hoax. According to US ambassador to Burma (2012-2016) Derek Mitchell,(The story "The Misunderstood Roots of Burma's rohingy Crisis" in The Atlantic) said "The name, rohingya, has also been essential to their international campaign for attention,". Also he mentioned "That "real place" dates back to the aftermath of WWII, when the forebears of the rohingya appealed to Pakistan, which at the time included what is now Bangladesh, to annex their territory. Pakistan did not do so. Subsequently, many of the muslims took up arms and fought a separatist rebellion until the 1960s, though vestiges of the rebellion continued until the 1990s. "So when the (Arakanes) and others in Myanmar look at what's going on with the ame rohingya, the desire for recognition as an accepted ethnicity, now this militant activity in their name, and calls by some for international intervention, including a safe zone, they see that as separatist agenda by other means," Mitchell was quoted as saying the story. Rakhine history expert Dr. Jacques P. Leider's Q & A (He has been conducting research as well as contributing articles to academic journals on Rakhine State for more than two decades.) Q: "What's the meaning of rohingya?" A: "The term appeared for the first time at the end of 18th century in report of an Englishman who went to the Chittagong area, the Rakhine area. His name was Francis Buchanan Hamilton. He was a medical doctor (and this term appeared) in one of the papers that was published by him. Now when we talk about scientific explanations and etymology of the world, it doesn't say anything about politics. You use this term for yourself as political label to give youself indentity in the 20th century. Now how is this term used since the 1950s? It's clear that people who use it want to give this identity to the community that live there." Q: "Are the rohingya an ethnic group of Myanmar?" A: "My answer is that rohingya is not an ethnic concept. Okay, they can stand up and say we are an ethnicgroup inside Myanmar. But I think that is not the best way. When you argue we are Musims and we've been living in Rakhine for several generations, nobody can deny it. For me, Rhingya is the term, which is an old word that has been claimed as above all as political label after independence of Myanmar. For the moment, I do not see that all the people there readily submit to one and single label. When I was in Bangladesh, people pointed out muslims to me who originally lived in Rakhine. They have now moved to Bangladesh and when you ask them, "Are you rohingya coming from Rakhine?" they say, "no, we are muslims who live in Rakhine, we do not take for us the label rohingya." Jacques Leider writes that many muslims in Rakhine simply prefer to call themselves "mislim Arakanese" or "muslims coming Rakhine" instead of "rohingya". Historians such as Christina Fink, Jacques Leider, Chris Lewa and Andrew Selth said rohingya not as an ethnic identifier but as a political one. In a 1955 study published by Stanford University, the authors Virginia Thompson and Richard Aduloff write, "The post war illegal immigration of Chittagonians into that area was on vast scale, and in the Maungdaw and Buthidaung areads they replaced the Arakanese." The authors further argue that the term rohingya, in the form of Rwangya, first appeared to distinguish settled population from newcomers: "The newcomers were called Mujahids (crusaders), in contrast to the Rwangya or settled Chittaonian population." In 638 AD, Rakhine king Dhammawizaya made Convention of Buddhist Council, joint effort of two countries, Rakhine and Ceylon. Lemro dynasty in 818 AD, the great king of dynasty (AD 818-1430) was king Mim-Yim-Phru, who turned his attention toward the development of Buddhism, and in 847 AD he convened the second Buddhist Council in Rakhine attended by 800 Arahants. rohingya scholors have claimed that Rakhine was previously a muslim state for a millennium, or that muslims were king-makers of Rakhine kings for 35 years. They often traced the origin of rohingya to Arab seafarers. They claims have been rejected as "newly invented myths" in academic circles. As conclusion, what you mentioned was hoax and I'm here with what historians and scholars' said about so called rohingya term. LOL!

I think these so called "buddhists" have never read nor followed their own teachings:
"Hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world. By non-hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal." (Dhp I - 5)
"One who, while himself seeking happiness, oppresses with violence other beings who also desire happiness, will not attain happiness hereafter." (Dhp X - 131)
"Overcome the angry by non-anger; overcome the wicked by goodness; overcome the miser by generosity; overcome the liar by truth." (Dhp XVII - 223)
"One should not strike a holy man, nor should a holy man, when struck, give way to anger. Shame on him who strikes a holy man, and more shame on him who gives way to anger."
"He who does no evil in deed, word and thought, who is restrained in these three ways - him do I call a holy man."
"Not by matted hair, nor by lineage, nor by birth does one become a holy man. But he in whom truth and righteousness exist - he is pure, he is a holy man."(Dhp XXVI - 389, 339, 391)
"He abused me, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me." Those who harbor such thoughts do not still their hatred.
"He abused me, he struck me, he overpowered me, he robbed me." Those who do not harbor such thoughts still their hatred. (Dhp I - 3,4)

There are 3, Dhanyawadi (3525 BC - 326 AD), Vesali - Lemro (327 - 1430), Mrauk-U (1430 - 1784). Convention of the Buddhist Council in Rakhine The crowning event in the history of Rakhine was the Convention of the Buddhist Council at the top of golden hill of Vesali under the royal patronage of King Dhammawizaya in AD 638 through joint effort of two countries, Rakhine and Ceylon. This momentous triumph of the great council was participated by one thousand monks from Ceylon and one thousand monks from Rakhine kingdom. As a fitting celebration of the occasion, the lavish construction of pagodas, statues and monasteries were undertaken for the purpose of inscribing the Tripitaka. After Vesali, Pyinsa was found by Lemro dynasty in 818; the great king of dynasty (818-1430) was King Mim-Yin-Phru, who turned his attention towards the development of Buddhism, and in 847 he convened the second Buddhist council in Rakhine attended by 800 Arahants. Rakhine chronicles report that therein the Tripitaka and Atthakatha were inscribed on the golden plate and enshrined. Never has there been impediment in the practice of Theravada Buddhist faith since it has been introduced in Rakhine. The copious findings of inscription Ye Dhamma verse were practical evidence that Theravada was dominant faith if epigraphic and archaeological sources were to be believed. The Royal patronage has always been significant factor contribution to stability and progress of the religion in Rakhine. According to US ambassador to Burma (2012-2016) Derek Mitchell,(The story "The Misunderstood Roots of Burma's rohingy Crisis" in The Atlantic) said "The name, rohingya, has also been essential to their international campaign for attention,". A: "My answer is that rohingya is not an ethnic concept. LOL!

Of course the Rohingya (Origin: Bangladesh) can only cross into southern Bangladesh, which is unfortunate because Cox's Bazar is a tourist area. Therefore, instead of pushing them back into Myanmar (Which both the Rohingya and Myanmar do not want) Why, why, why, aren't they transported to northern Bangladesh where there is ample space??

Mr. Bernie McCann... The truth is here.
Who were the ancestors of the Rakhine people?
, studied at University of Sittwe
Well, I will quote you from history.
It is not clear who the original settlers of Arakan were. Burmese nationalist claims that the Rakhine inhabited Arakan since 3000BCE are not supported by any archaeological evidence. By the 4th century, Arakan became one of the earliest Indianized kingdoms in Southeast Asia. The first Arakanese state flourished in Dhanyawadi. Power then shifted to the city of Waithali (Vesali). Sanskrit inscriptions in the region indicate that the founders of the first Arakanese states were Indian.
Q: But is there any inscriptions that indicate that the founders of the first Arakanese states were the Rakhines or people similar to the Burmese?
Arakan was ruled by the Chandra dynasty. The British historian Daniel George Edward Hall stated that “The Burmese do not seem to have settled in Arakan until possibly as late as the tenth century AD. Hence earlier dynasties are thought to have been Indian, ruling over a population similar to that of Bengal. All the capitals known to history have been in the north near modern Akyab (now known as Sittwe)”. It is also unclear that the Rakhine people were one of the tribes of the Burmese Pyu city states because Pyus are not related with Burmese ethnic.
Q: So, Rakhine people are neither Burmese nor Pyus. Who are they actually?
They began migrating to Arakan through the Arakan Mountains in the 9th century.
Q: 9th century? But there were already many Muslims before Rakhines who converted to Islam in 8th century by the Arab and Persian traders of earliest days.
The Rakhines settled in the vallys of the Lemro River. Their cities included Sambawak I, Pyinsa, Parein, Hkrit, Sambawak II, Mrohaung, Toungoo and Launggret. The cities flourished between the 11th and 15 centuries. The Burmese invaded Arakan in 1404.
It is unknown who the ancestors of the Rakhines were. But there are some historians who believe that the Rakhines migrated from Magadha, old Bihar India. It was known as Maugh people to the Rakhines by the Indians of earliest days in Arakan or today's Rohingya people who converted into Islam in 8th century by the Arab and Persian traders. Rakhines are known to history by different names such as Magh, Mog, Mug, Magahi, Mogen etc.
Arakan state belongs to Rohingyas than the Rakhines.
Due to the evidence of Sanskrit inscriptions found in the region, historians believe the founders of the first Arakanese states were Indian. The first Arakanese state flourished in Dhanyawadi (Dhanyavati: Sanskrit word, meaning; grain blessed land) between the 4th and 6th centuries. The city was the was the center of large trade network linked to India, China and Persia. Power then shifted to the city of Waithali (Vesali: Sanskrit word. The city founded by king Ananda Chandra), where the Chandra dynasty ruled. Waithali became a wealthy trading port. The Chandra-ruled Harikela state was known as the kingdom of Ruhmi (Rahami) to the Arabs.
      Arrival of Islam in Arakan.
Since in the 8th century, Arab merchants began conducting missionary activities, and many locals converted to Islam. Some researchers have speculated that Muslims used trade routes in the region to travel to India and China. A southern branch of the Silk Road connected India, Burma and China since the neolithic period. Many Arab merchants married local women and settled in Arakan. As a result of intermarriage and conversion, the Muslim population in Arakan grew.
“According to history, Islam reached Arakan before 788 AD and it attracted the local people to come to the fold of Islam en masse all over Arakan”. (Eng. Abu Tahey)
“The term Roang/Rohang/Roshang…. the old name of Arakan…. is of much antiquity. It is probably the corruption of the Arabic term Raham (mercy, blessing) meaning the land of God's blessing. The Arab and Persian traders of earliest days attributed this name to the old kingdom of Vesali at least a century prior to the Chandras which country they used to visit”. (Dr. Muhammad Yunus)
“In ancient times the Rakhine state was called Rohang and the people in Rohang were as Rohingyas so that Rohingya was a name of an ethnic group only occurred under historic event. Rohingya was not created under politics and not the same as Mujahids, armed group”. (Eng. Abu Tahey)
“Asiatic Research 5 (1799):219-240 by Francis Buchanan Stated that the Mohammedans (i.e. Muslims who follow prophet Muhammad) who have long settled in Arakan and who called themselves Rooinga or native of Arakan.
Identification of Rohingya Ethnicity was expressed in the classical Journal of London published in 1811 and also at 1815 of collections vocabulorum in Berlin of Germany.
An Account of the Burman, Compiled from the works of Colonel Symes, Major Canning, Captain Cox, Dr Leyden, Dr Buchanan by Henry G. Bell, ESQ in 1852 stated in page (66) that the Mohammedans who have long settled in the country, call themselves Rooinga or Native of Arracan”. (Eng. Abu Tahey)
A book written in 1799 had mentioned Indentification of Rohingya ethnicity as Rooinga and aslo referred to Mohammedans (i.e. Muslims). So, why do Burmese government still deny all these proofs? Why is Burmese government killing and driving out the people from their ancestral homeland where their ancestors found it and ruled it since 4th century and also before the Rakhines?

The prince Abihiyaza (Abhiraja) of kingdom of Kosala of the Sakya clan (the clan of the Buddha and Maha Sammata) and his followers left their homeland following a military defeat against their neighbouring kingdom of Panchala. They settled and founded a kingdom at Tagaung in present day northern Burma at the upper banks of Irrawaddy river in 850 BCE. He had 2 sons, and died after a 25 years reign at Tagaung. The elder son Kanyaza Gyi lost the throne to his younger brother Kanyaza Nge. Kanyaz Gyi ventured south, and founded his own kingdom at Arakan in 825 BCE. Kanyaza Nge succeeded his father, and was follow a dynasty of 31kings. Circa 600 BCE, Taruk marauders from Gandhara sacked the city. (The invaders were from Yunnan. Taruk refers to the Han Chinese in modern Burmese but in old Burmese, it referred to anyone from the northeast. Gandara was the classical name of Yunnan adopted by the Buddhist kingdoms there.) Rakhine king Dhammawizaya in 638 AD made Convention of the Buddhist Council at the top of golden hill Vesali through joint effort of 2 countries, Rakhine and Ceylon. After Vesali, Pyinsa was found by Lemro dynasty in 818 AD; the great king of dynasty (AD818-1430) was king Mim Yin Phru, who turned his attention towards the development of Buddhism, and in 847 AD he convened the second Buddhist council in Rakhine attended by 800 Arahants. Tripitaka and Atthakatha were inscribed on the golden plate and enshrined. The copious findings of inscription Ye Dhamma verse were practical evidence that Theravada was dominant faith if epigraphic and archeological sources were to be believed.
