I always wanted to learn how to sign. I don't know why it took me till the age of 60 to take action, but today, because of your video, I learned my ABCs in ASL - and enjoyed it. THANK YOU!
Hi Dave, could it be that your hearing is slowly fading and you are one of those rare individuals that plans for the future? Best of luck with this.Hope your having as much fun with it as I am.
I work in a Hotel in Dublin and every staff can speak more than 2 languages, I was wondering how I could be more helpful and decide to learn ASL and thanks to Meredith and Kate I'm learning really quick. Gonna keep learning. Thanks for that girls!!!❤
I can pick up asl quicker than French- Your videos make it easier to learn asl. (You don’t need to read this but go ahead) I’m learning asl so I can communicate with my family and friends because I get selected mutism when I’m anxious and the possibility that I’ll meet someone who’s mute and/or deaf
Yes! I get overwhelmed and shut down sometimes and go nonverbal, and I get really frustrated that I can't communicate. This video and your asl emotions video have been a great place to start.
I figure that since I cant seem to pronounce words in other languages than English and sometimes not even English, ASL should be better for me ! I have always wanted to learn the language
I’m doing ASL as my language requirement for my Bachelors Degree, and I’m taking my first Sign Language class right now, ASL 1. And you’re videos have been super helpful for studying for class. Thank you so much!
Hola Meredith! I am a nurse and I live in The most beautiful island of the Caribbean, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. I have always wanted to learn ASL, I don’t understand why this is not teaching to us at school since we are kids. It’s a shameee! 😢. As a phychiatric nurse I had a none verbal PT and it was so frustrating and heartbreaking not be able to help him or I will say communicate to him the way he deserved. I felt so horrible with my self I finally decided to learn because that can’t happen ever again. I thank god for people like you 🙌🏼🙏🏽 I have been watching your videos and also I have some “flash cards “ that I practice every day. I love the way you teach, is so easy and your voice and personality is amazing 👏🏾🙌🏼. I can’t wait to be able to help other patients in the future and all because of this videos you make. God bless you! 🙏🏽 THANK YOU!
I've wanted to learn asl for forever and these videos are really helping. I find it so much easier to learn asl than to learn a completely different language because I struggle with pronunciation. Thank you for making these videos!
I'm a Pre-Vet student and this could be so helpful when I meet someone with a pet/animal that's deaf/nonverbal. Your explanation was so clear and I loved the slow pacing! Thank you so much :3
It has been just a week and I already have learned to sign numbers, alphabets and fingerspelling. Now trying to learn words and to make sentences and I learned all of this from this specific channel and no other, thank you very much, Meredith. whoever wants to learn sign language i would suggest this channel because according to me this is the best channel to learn ASL(American Sign Language)
I have never posted a comment on RUclips before. THANK YOU!!! I was born with full hearing, and am now (basically) deaf. Long story, hearing aids won't help/I am... not "that old". I have been practicing and many hearing people I interact with are very interested! I speak two languages now, and will strive to make ASL number 3. Thanks again! I love that you include your daughter. What a great way to teach acceptance where it matters most - at home.
I have subscribed to several ASL channels and I'm learning a lot, so thank you for having these available to those of us who can't afford to take a college class. I am a preschool teacher and after 25 years of being in a classroom, I now have 2 deaf students; one with minimal hearing and one who is totally deaf. I am able to teach my lessons in ASL, but I have to rehearse them the night before and the morning of. It's working out great, but one thing is happening that I never considered: My hands and arms get very tired. I suppose the more I sign, the easier it will be. I'm having a lot of fun with it though. Keep up the good work!
17 years ago my sister had a daughter, and she was born deaf. I'm just now starting to try to learn, because I recently saw a video of how some deaf people feel in a room of non signers. I felt awful 😞. I had no idea how it could make them feel so alone in a full room. Soon she's going to graduate from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, and I just want to be able to tell her I'm proud in sign language.
I’m loving your videos. My son is dead and is 5 year’s old. Your videos are helping me gain more confidence that I need to know that I can learn this language and have conversations with my son.
That was fantastic! Our family really enjoyed and learned a lot today. We will practice everyday, and add new words each day! Thank you for all you do. We can't wait to be able to talk with our neighbor.
I work at a restaurant and there are a couple of regulars who are Deaf. I want to communicate with them without having them write it out or have someone interpret it for them. My husband knows ASL but our schedule conflict each other so he can't really teach me that much. Also he lost his flash cards that show how to sign the alphabet. I glad I found your channel and I'm trying to learn this, Spanish and I'm trying to learn German, so many different people come through our restaurant and I just want to learn their language so I communicate with them.
Thanks so much, I'd like to learn ASL in case I ever come across a deaf or mute person so I can communicate with them. Your videos are really helping out, keep it up!
Some customers where I work have used sign with me a couple times and I’ve felt bad that I couldn’t communicate with them properly. Your videos are very straightforward and informative and I’ve only been watching your channel for about 20 minutes. You’ve earned a sub.
I love asl because I like to work out my hands. I like doing it because if you talk to somebody and they can’t speak you can do ASL. Love you Meredith. 🥰🥰🥰 ❤❤❤💗💗💗💖💖💖Thank you.
I always wanted to learn ASL but never felt like I have enough time/motivation. I had an accident last week and broke my mandible which makes it difficult to move my mouth and talk. Thankfully, my hands and arms are almost perfect, so I took it as a SIGN (😊) of the universe to start learning. It is so much fun and I'm glad I will be able to be more inclusive communicating. Thank you so much for all your videos! And thank you for making my time at the hospital fun and educational 😊
i'm spending time learning these, while i have an assignment to submit tomorrow. I don't know what to do. But still thanks for teaching me how to sign. thank you guys.
Thank you for making this video so clear! I was struggling with understanding how to sign P and Q and tried several other channels until I came across this video. You made it so easy. Thank you!
I wished i had videos like this when i was younger cause i was always confused and got frustrated. I'm learning it again for my cousin who hurt her voice badly and became comfortable with signing instead. I want to be able to understand her more and communicate better.
I'm trying to re-learn ASL since I learn a while back! Great video, very informative and very clear, the way you show the mouvement is very helpful. Thank you !
i watched this video today and i learned all of the alphabet in one hour maybe less than an hour i can now do it repeatedly now and i can now sign my name yayyy . im interested in learning asl its definitely something everyone should know how to do so we can communicate with others who need it
Thank you for these fabulous educational videos on ASL. You make it delightful to learn. I’m an (ahem) older woman who finds your way of teaching easy to absorb. I’ve been half heartedly trying to teach myself ASL since my teens. I’m sure you know if you don’t practice you lose it. So I’ve started again n again. I have two great books, one is a big sized like a schoolbook n the other is small to keep in your purse for easy reference. I really find I learned better through watching a video rather than a book. Now I’ve found your fabulous channel on RUclips! I’m not hearing impaired and I don’t have any family or friends that require me to know ASL however, I think it’s important for all of us to know the basics at the very least. Having always wanted to learn when a HI person is in my presence and I don’t know how to have a conversation with them, I feel like an ass for not giving it my due diligence to learn this beautiful language. With this channel at my fingertips there’s no more than excuses for not learning it. I was learning some things incorrectly in the book. Not because the book is incorrect but I wasn’t reading it right. I’m dyslexic and I read well for the most part with the exception of reading instructions. Watching you makes it easier for me. I’ve gone on long enough, lol. So thanks again for your great content. I’ll be practicing every day for at least 1/2 hour. We need it taught in school! I grew up in the 70’s (apparently I’ve not actually gone on long enough 😂) and watched Sesame Street. There was a woman who taught ASL on the program. It was beautiful to watch her n I was fascinated. It gave me butterflies. Kinda like a rainbow does. Anyway I’m really done this time. ✨💝
To practice finger spelling I just think of a random word and spell it to help me practice I’ll spell my friends names to random object and if I forget how to sign a letter I go and check which for me really helps me memorize them
I practiced fingerspelling the same way you do. You'll become faster and your fingers will be more flexible, too. Practice spelling road signs, too. Best wishes.
I've had this idea that I wanted to learn sign language for a while, but honestly didn't know where to start! These videos have been really helpful! I've started making some flashcards for these so I can practice even without the video! It doubles as good practice for drawing hands as well! I've never met anyone who is deaf, but I can only imagine it is a lonely world to live in. I hope to brighten the day of someone I meet one day! Thank you for helping me do that :)
I've been wanting to learn to sign. I had a deaf coworker a bit ago, plus I just watched the movie "A Silent Voice" which is a fantastic movie about a deaf girl. Check it out for those who haven't. This simple video has allowed me to get down the alphabet pretty quick, so now just repetition so it's second nature.
Soooo it took me a while to get the French alphabet down but I learned the entire ASL alphabet in 15 minutes. Awesome! I’m so much more of a visual person
Im someone who has ADHD and autism. I also have a little space so at times I'm non-verbal but I really wanna talk. This has helped a bit. My memory is a bit bad so I will have to watch this multiple times to get it. I won't ever fully remember but I can try my best! (Practicing to say my name rn! It's Blitzen)
Thanks, Meredith! Your channel has helped me a lot. I watch video every day to learn. I still get confused sometimes with A and S, but I'm working on it. See, my name is Saydie and having those don't next to each other is sometimes confusing. But I'm getting better! Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Your name is Saydie, so tell yourself that your S and your A are next to each other SO YOU CAN make the right letters. Let the spelling of your name be motivation to sign correctly. I'm cheering for you.
Im starting to go deaf in my 20's just sudden onset hearing loss they cant explain why, so i have to start learning asl before i cant hear anything anymore. Thanks a lot really, as someone who has to re-learn the alphabet with my hands this video made it a lot easier
Thank you for this! I’m learning this not only for speaking with my deaf cousin but also with a groomsman who I’m walking with that is my friend’s cousin this September for his wedding
Thanks I really enjoy your videos. When my wife and I go for a walk, I finger speed all the license plates. Now thanks to your videos I can also do the letters and numbers too on our walk. Learn a little, use it a lot.
So glad you put these videos up. I am having such a good time learning this. I hope to be fluent before I an completely deaf. I have always had friends who had hearing impairments and it is embarrassing to have to shout in a place like a restaurant. Sign language makes so much sense.
Boomer! 😊 Also I’ve had a deep desire to learn ASL for years now even though I have no one to actually sign to and I’m finally diving in. I’m excited to go through your videos. Thanks for your help! From a fellow Okie!
i loved this video so much! after watching i had a big smile on my face! my second grade teacher taught us how to sign a bit, but i didn't remember much. im genderfluid, and feel extremely uncomfortable in a situation where i have to tell someone my gender or sex, and i've been thinking how other people have it worse. i want to learn sign language to make the world a better place so thank you for helping me learn the basics!
I am very thankful for your videos. I have these sort of attacks in which i go mute and when this happens i always feel so isolated so I'm glad i can finally learn a way to communicate and your videos make it so much easier to learn. Thanks!
It suddenly came to me to learn this. Why not? Couldn’t hurt to learn. The only one I’m having trouble with is P unfortunately but I will get it down. Been practicing the entire alphabet for a few days now. 🤗
Hello, my name is Durolguens.I am Haitian. I am living with a disability since my childhood. I watched your videos on ASL and I love them. I would like to translate some of of your videos in from English to Creole. I would like to have access from you. And also Ineed some clarifications for some signs that are confusing. I hope to hearing from you soon. Happy new year.
At the age of 76, it's a lot. But I am determined to learn it. The person I may be signing to may think I'm nuts. So I have to learn how to say I'm new at signing first I guess. Great videos!
Same i always wanted to learn, but the way you explained it was so easy, love that you throw in other information as in if you sign differently it can mean a whole different thing like the w and number 3. Now i know my asl abc's, thank you!
i learned some basic sign language when i was in elementary school, but now all i can remember is how to introduce myself with my deadname, so i found this video to help me restart the learning process--beginning with my new name
i am a 10years old, i tried learning Korean But the quickly backfired still trying to learn it tho! I thought it whould be easier to learn ASL at first it was hard but with your help i picked up saying '' Hi, My Name Ryan'' and same for my sister and parents! Thank you for making good and understandable videos! And More Words! I even know your logo is the sign for ''I Love You''
Meredith Thank you so much, I love your videos, please keep them coming. I am trying to learn ASL and your videos are a great help, just have to sign slow to get used to it. So thank you, please keep them coming!!
Currently working in Call center. O always wanted to sign language, even back in high school. One time after work, I was in a jeepney and encountered this lady. She looks uneasy and in distress. She is alone but I just notice that she's doing some sign language and she seems so emotional. even making some sounds. I wanted to talk to her but I don't know how I will approach. It she inspire me to really learn it now
Thank you. A lady comes through my work line and it's been 3 days I've practiced along with watched all the videos it's been 3 days lol I am so happy I will be soon signing with her and anyone else I may meet. I like how you repeated everything I actually wrote stuff down notes like I'm school again. I'm 40 lol haha but so excited even my high school friend parents were hard of hearing and always wanted to talk more with them. Maybe someday I will. Thanks again and happy holidays BRADY
I learned the alphabet & language when I was 21 and it's really cool to refresh I haven't had to use it at all and that makes me sad but this is really cool to be able to use it again
I’m a little confused because about 30 years ago I learned the ABC’s in “sign language. It was an elective class in Junior high) and this is exactly how they taught us, so saying asl confuses me. So my question is what do you mean by ASL? The only different is that we learned Z was done with the pinky finger. An easier transition from Y to Z
I have a cousin who has gone through some stuff and is now un audible, I am sure if I keep practicing I'll be able to talk with her a bit and support her through this.
Thank you for your videos. I met a deaf girl on a flight to Florida and we had to communicate through text. And I'm trying to learn how to talk to her without my phone.
Hey Signers! We love this video, but we have a new ASL Alphabet video that we love and know you'll love too. ruclips.net/video/sHyG7iz3ork/видео.html
I always wanted to learn how to sign. I don't know why it took me till the age of 60 to take action, but today, because of your video, I learned my ABCs in ASL - and enjoyed it. THANK YOU!
You can do it!
Me too! Same age and learning
Me as well 😊 Just turned 60
I know, right?! Me too 😃
Hi Dave, could it be that your hearing is slowly fading and you are one of those rare individuals that plans for the future? Best of luck with this.Hope your having as much fun with it as I am.

Did it work out?
@@overhyped_1005maybe they realized ASL is not very useful over there.
I'm supposed to be doing my assignments but here I am trying to memorize the asl alphabet 😅 I enjoyed and learned a lot, thank you!

I’m learning asl so I can communicate with my family and friends because I get selected mutism when I’m anxious and the possibility that I’ll meet someone who’s mute and/or deaf
Love that you are learning ASL and it is helping you.
Same here I have autism so it's hard to talk sometimes but I want people to know I'm not mentally slow

I wish they taught asl in high school. I'm 22 and now learning asl I think I got my name down pretty well
We'd love to see sign language grow at the secondary level.
It's offered at my high school but I don't know anyone who takes it.

Thanks, Meredith! Your channel has helped me a lot. I watch video every day to learn. I still get confused sometimes with A and S, but I'm working on it. See, my name is Saydie and having those don't next to each other is sometimes confusing. But I'm getting better! Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
You are so welcome. I am glad you are improving.
Your name is Saydie, so tell yourself that your S and your A are next to each other SO YOU CAN make the right letters. Let the spelling of your name be motivation to sign correctly. I'm cheering for you.
Wonderful I will come back to this video I’m so glad to have found you ❤️ can’t wait to tell my daughter be back soon got doctors appointment 👍🏽
Im starting to go deaf in my 20's just sudden onset hearing loss they cant explain why, so i have to start learning asl before i cant hear anything anymore. Thanks a lot really, as someone who has to re-learn the alphabet with my hands this video made it a lot easier

I’ve been trying to learn ASL for a while…..your video has been a great help!!!😊😊😊
Thanks I really enjoy your videos. When my wife and I go for a walk, I finger speed all the license plates. Now thanks to your videos I can also do the letters and numbers too on our walk. Learn a little, use it a lot.
Way to go! I love that you are practicing in everyday life.
i Love ASL soooooooooooo much.
Sooner!
Wait y'all are also Okies?!!! How did I not realize that
i loved this video so much! after watching i had a big smile on my face! my second grade teacher taught us how to sign a bit, but i didn't remember much. im genderfluid, and feel extremely uncomfortable in a situation where i have to tell someone my gender or sex, and i've been thinking how other people have it worse. i want to learn sign language to make the world a better place so thank you for helping me learn the basics!
One time I did not know how to spell the alphabet and you are so helpful.
U r so great for teaching signs
I am very thankful for your videos. I have these sort of attacks in which i go mute and when this happens i always feel so isolated so I'm glad i can finally learn a way to communicate and your videos make it so much easier to learn. Thanks!
It suddenly came to me to learn this. Why not? Couldn’t hurt to learn. The only one I’m having trouble with is P unfortunately but I will get it down. Been practicing the entire alphabet for a few days now. 🤗
Your videos make me learn asl quicker
So glad.

Thanks again and happy holidays

I’m glad u talked bout the 2 letters in the name I would’ve looked dumb signing my name that has 2 same letter in it. So thank u.
Thank you so much!!!
I learned the alphabet & language when I was 21 and it's really cool to refresh I haven't had to use it at all and that makes me sad but this is really cool to be able to use it again
Thank you for this. I just started learning and this has been super helpful
Thanks for your videos!
ASL is for American Sign Language, there are many different sign languages such as BSL, British Sign Language
@@kristinerickson4701 Thank You!
I need to learn this for no reason just incase needed in the future also it’s kinds fun!
Awesome video, thanks!
hi how do i make a name in sign language if two letters next to each other are the same? I love your videos😀
When you do J and Z, are you signing it to where it looks the right way to you, or to the person looking at you?
I have no reason to learn asl, but it's good knowledge. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks!
I can do em' all but not fast i can now spell my name at fingerspelling❤️❤️🇵🇭
I have a cousin who has gone through some stuff and is now un audible, I am sure if I keep practicing I'll be able to talk with her a bit and support her through this.

Thank you for your videos. I met a deaf girl on a flight to Florida and we had to communicate through text. And I'm trying to learn how to talk to her without my phone.
Meredith: Doing the signs she’s trying to teach us and doing the words at a normal speed. Me: I GOTTA GO FAST SO I CAN IMPRESS-
