- Legitimate PC98 cover of LoLK's Stage 6 Final Boss theme "Pure Furies ~ Whereabouts of the Heart " from Touhou 15: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom, remade in PC-98 PMD MML for the YM2608 soundchip.
I hope I'm improving with my MML creation! I was experimenting a lot with SSG envelopes, stereo and echoing instruments. I also made sure to use a lot of instruments.
FM channel F was not used because the Touhou games use that for sound effects. This is for compatibility if someone decided to port this song into a PC-98 Touhou game.

That is the reason why she doesn't care about the Rules.
I really like major villains who don't have anyone unquestioningly loyal to them at any point. It shows at the same time the villain's personal power and manipulative talent, and how monstrous the villain is. There aren't enough of those in Touhou.

I'm in the process of making tutorials on how to use all the software, and write basic MML.

That'd be wonderful if I could compose songs in the correct software needed for PC98 tracks.
While you wait, I can give a tip, use VOPM and edit some touhou MIDIs so that they use 1 note per channel, with 5 channels for PC98 instruments and 2 channels for a square wave. That makes a compatible "mockup" of the MML file I'll start teaching.

Should be fairly easy to do so since I do tend to make my own MIDIs when I'm up to it.
I've heard that VOPM can be a bit limited to how many instruments it can handle, though.
Just make sure that VOPM is seperate to the MIDI channel, and turn on monophonic mode with a MIDI CC.

Reminds me of some of the old Data East sega games, very nice cover sir.
This is a real awesome cover of Pure Furies. Is it alright to use in my fan project? I plan on making a fanfic where Junko's son gets resurrected by Seiga, and he has to make his way home while being chased by Seiga, who wants to "adopt." That's all I'm willing to divulge about it for now.

As great as this cover is, the FM "ZUNpets" are kind of underwhelming. (What else can I expect though, considering the YM2608's limitations?) I'll probably edit this later when this grows on me.
There's nothing much other than @23 Th_04 and @101 Common as instruments that have a wide sounds, sustains well, and can act as a lead (so string/electric guitar patches don't count.) So yes, it's a problem with ZUN's instruments.
ShinkoNet Personally I would've used @250, but that's just me. Great cover nevertheless, I was getting pretty tired of the soundfont swaps.
You do great covers too! Out of all the @250 variants the Th03_4 one sounds the best for this one, but I feel that they all don't have a strong attack. I could edit that, but I wanted to use ZUN-specific instruments.
ShinkoNet Thanks! I actually know nothing about FM synth or creating instruments outside of SSG though, so all I can do is use the existing ZUN instruments ^^;
I get the impression it would sound a bit better if you would put it one octave above and use some LFO vibrato as well
but this sounds pretty good :)

Have you ever fully translated from JPN to ENG the instruction manual that gives all available MML commands? I would like to learn the real purpose of obscure commands like those related to LFO (which I cannot yet seem to fully grasp), and would like to see if there are commands for achieving effects like tremolo, vibrato, etc. At least I know portamento (or, as Blarg calls it, pitch bend), something that jedi787plus apparently never learned or understood. Thankee!
Check Battle Of The Bits's website about PMD MML, they have lists and uses for all of the mml commands. I also have a version of the mml compiler that spits out errors in english too, might link that when i get home
@@ShinkoNet I found the translation there. But it's a whole HTML page. I feel more comfortable with a plain-text file. Can you ask pigu-a to make a .TXT copy of that manual? Thankee!

個人的な経験で申し訳無いですが、おそらく投稿主は元データ(wavかな？)をベースにmidi化したか、耳コピで作ったかと思われます。
それで出来たmidiデータを98系統では.mの拡張子になるはずなので変換してエミュ上のmidiミュージック等で再生してると思われます👍️
