I am so impressed that the Quin gold is your only yellow! I follow your IG account and enjoy your paintings and sketching so much!!! Thanks for sharing!
Quin Gold is what made me fall in love with watercolor 🥰🥰 I have trouble using the cooler yellows actually. I just don't enjoy them as much. I did try out a few other yellows in my travel kit in addition to the Quin Gold - then never touched them. So I ended up using the space for another green instead 🥰
Just a suggestion to update your description from Etchr Slate to Etchr Field Case as they are not the same 😇 I love my field case and its my main watercolor travel kit. It fits so much and its so sturdy.
I have the Etchr field case too and LOVE it! I need to change what I’m taking I think because I can’t fit my A6 inside, I have it in the outside pocket. I can’t get used to brush pens or brush markers, although I keep trying lol. So I just take normal travel brushes. I like to have a gel pen and a pastel pencil as well. I’ve been wanting to try the Beam paints! I do have Stoneground since my local art store carries them (and it does support another Canadian company). Have also been wanting a sketch board… love that tiny version! Great setup! I have a couple of Art Toolkit mini and pocket palettes for my travel paints, but it means carrying a separate water container. I keep thinking I’ll switch it out and give the micro portable painter a try, but I can’t commit to the paints I want to add to the micro palette lol. The art toolkit palettes are so easy to change out paints because of the little metal pans and that suits my indecisiveness lol.
You certainly have to slim down what you take to have the sketchbook inside, but I find it super useful! I have left a sketchbook on a plane before - so it makes me feel better. I want the brush pens to work for me so much....but I just don't like the look on the small scale. I use the water brushes mostly to bring water >< While i keep trying to use them they are interesting for sure. Beam paints are my favorite, you should certainly pick a few colors up and give them a try. I am a bit biased because they were my first professional level paints though. Thank you for your lovely comment!! Hope you enjoyed a peek into my set up!
Oh, and the portable painter micro fits standard half pans! I was equally indecisive and so for months just cycled through the already filled half pans from my other palette. I only filled the special expandable pans once i decided i wanted those colors.
@@explorationcreations Oh gosh, that would be heartbreaking to lose a sketchbook!! The only thing I like water brushes for is working with watercolour pencils… they’d also be good for carrying water lol. Although I recently saw a video where an artist used Caran D’ache (I think?) water brushes and apparently you have more control over the water with those. Your beam paints look beautiful!
@@explorationcreations I hadn’t even checked if you could use standard half pans! I expect I’ll use the newer pans so I can fit a couple of extra colours and I think that’s what is holding me back. You really have to commit when you fill those lol. I bought two micro palettes during their Black Friday sale, so I should just be brave and fill one, see how it goes! (I hoped to use the second one for gouache, and I probably wouldn’t use the expansion pans for gouache, so I “sort of” have backups.)
I bought a set of small metal boxes and magnetic strip from Amazon. Made my own little palettes with that. Much cheaper! 😁 And you can make different palettes to take depending on your subject.
It doesn't need to be fancy! This is after a few months of just carrying a small palette and some microns in a pencil case or loose in my backpack. Just give it a shot! I bet your daily kit will work for you! ☺️
The sketch board just slips in between the cover and the first/last page of your sketchbook. It is sold by an Etsy seller in Cornwall, linked here. He makes them in all different sizes. He has some videos showing it and how to use it. You can also get it customized to be the colors you prefer. www.etsy.com/shop/JustGoSketching?ref=usf_2020
Of course! The guy who makes it has a whole bunch of sizes and styles, follow the link here to his Etsy! www.etsy.com/shop/JustGoSketching Glad to have you from Canada!!
I have Beam paints as well. I love them. They are from Manotoulin Island, Ontario. I am hoping to go spend a week there in late summer and hopefully find a painting class.
Great setup!

Really enjoying your channel and your art. I hope you will continue to post. Best wishes.
Thank you!! I do plan on continuing to post when i can.
What do you call the clips that hold your pages down? Not the binder clip.
Travel around while create artwork is mydream but i only have my daily kit right now 🙂👍👍👍❤

Thank you for an interesting video! How does the magnetick little sketchboard work and who makes it?

Oh that would be awesome! I haven't made it to the island yet, but it is on my list for next time i am up that way!!
Lmmfao. I'll give you $1000.00 if you find green, bright yellow or blue soil or stones on that "indigenous land".
