The reason for the sensory was because of the lip and usually how the Portrayed black characters back in the day of western animation witch was rasist

I don't even understand the point of a lot of these. For example changing the gun into a hammer? I mean it's still essentially a death threat so is the weapon really the issue? Then there's changing the color of the bottles, changing rice cakes into cookies, and don't even get me started on 1:08
It’s mainly to appeal to western audiences so they can relate/connect to anime is some way without everything being japanese

@@gan_rr8118 , if they were going to censor the Black person than just edit in new lips because it takes more time to render in new skin tone done by hand than just making the lips a different color and shape, I’m not even a professional artist like Oda, and I realize how much harder hand drawn animation is than computer animation.

4kids tried to correct it by making the skin lighter so it doesn't appease to the stereotype

As a former kid, I'm confident to say that original cartoons didn't ruin my childhood, and I was able to understand cigarettes and cigars were normal, violence was normal too. The blurring images didn't stop me from being able to guess what they want to hide.

Why did you try to make the show as a kids cartoon? Why can’t you leave the show’s ass alone & let it be TV-MA oriented? When it first came out to the U.S., we live in the world where Beavis & Butthead, South Park & Family Guy are extremely popular. There is no reason to try to make One Piece a show for little kids. Now when Saban dubbed Dragon Ball Z & Dic Entertainment dubbed Sailor Moon & they censored all the inappropriate content, it make sense, because in America’s television, there was never any adult cartoons yet until there’s Beavis & Butthead.

The ORIGINAL appearance of the man was racist. 4kids changed his skin color because they thought it was enough to distance his appearance from the way old racist cartoons mockingly represented people of African descent. Japanese people had a habit of making black characters look like Mr Popo from DBZ in the 90s. In America people take offense to a lot of stuff, so it's better to be safe than sorry.
