A true gem from Ilford. Works greatly with most developers - old and recent alike. I think I like it way more than Hp5 because it always have character.
I suggest you to try to push it, I pushed in HC110 dilution B to 400 a roll of FP4+ in 120 that was expired by few years and I was amazed by the results. All Ilford films seems to be really good for pushing.
Yeah I think this would be a good candidate for pushing. Idk how good the shadows would be at two stops or further but I think it might be able to keep up.
Yes, can you push FP4+ to 400/500 and share with everyone how the shadows hold up vs what you saw with pushing HP5+ two stops to 1600. Thank you on behalf of everyone!
FP4 is so fine grained but I never use it bc of it’s slow speed but I’ve tested pushing it to 200-400. I wonder what kind of performance it would render and if it would just be bette to use Hp5 if you want to get those speeds
Yeah it’s pretty slow! You can push it but I don’t think it has the capability of giving good shadows beyond 200. HP5 on the other hand has you covered from 200-1600 easily. What’s your usual setup? Medium format or 35?
Frame after frame, my Rollei shows me it loves FP4.
I shoot 50ISO handheld on cloudy days. 125ISO isn’t low at all.

Yeah I love the look of FP4! It has a really bold, crisp look that I think looks great out of camera.
Developed in Diafine, FP4 has a speed of 250 iso, so not a slow film anymore…
I love FP4 in 120! I prefer the sharpness and contrast, when I shoot my Rollei, over HP5.
Yeah it’s so good in 120! I think the contrast is perfect and the detail you get out of it is amazing.
