I'm growing durian from seed at the moment. They're saplings now, they'll go into the park trails to become my own food forest when they get bigger.
These durians should not be grown from seeds..they should grafted from good mature durian tree. Its like human...children are not the same as their.parent

I live in Loei Thailand, I tried to grow many trees either trees I bought or trees I grew from the seed. They reach the eight of more than one meter but then die apparently from a fungal disease, is there any special treatment for durians?

Durians are way too expensive. About 80 to 90% is thrown away as husks and seeds. Therefore the remaining flesh becomes way too expensive. More than that, sometimes durians cause a person to be sick.
@Jacky Phantom Between monopoly and cornering of the durian market, I am of the opinion that the durian market at certain areas is often cornered. Per kg , durians are almost 10 times more expensive than rice i.e per kg durian is selling at RM70 while per kg of a fine type of rice is only RM7 or less.

in 2023, the oldest MSK durian tree is 37 years old. Those claim outside 40-50 years tree MSK are not true. Unless are those are Raja Kunyit in Penang or Kelantan.

hi bro, are they grown organically ? In VietNam durian farmers always use a lot of chemicals, they say the trees won't grow without chemicals .. so it's quite a toxic business .. by the way, why they have a Vietnamese scale over there at 2:34 , just wonder :) ..

Freezing destroys it. Tried frozen very poor quality. Fresh is best...

Do you even have any knowledge regarding symbiosis between different species of rainforest trees and plants? They CLEARED the rainforests in order to plant ONLY durian and can you see the bed of the trees ground? There ain't any crawling plant species or at least cover crops to improve farm habitat for wildlife. Do you even know what is a cover crop? I bet with your simple way of assuming farm-planted durian trees with natural rainforest trees give indication of how low your IQ is.

Wowww! As far as I know, they're trespassing the King's land, they're the one who needs to compensate the government back, not the other way, ultimately compensating the whole human race since rainforests are getting less and less each day. As far as I'm concerned, Malaysia keeps their forest reserves under a strict law including designated them as the King's forest reserves lands to prevent uncontrolled deforestation of rainforests. And for your information, these illegal durian orchards are included in those permanent Malaysian forest reserves!
Do you know European countries are planting forests back? And it almost triple in size already since 1900. Do your research. A simple Google image search. Go look it up.
By the way, it's not even their lands in the first place. So, they're absolute criminals. They're robbing from the King, they're robbing from the state, they're not paying both land tax and income tax to the country which in turn can develop rural areas of Malaysia including East Malaysia, they're killing the rainforests, they're massacring human race slowly, and they're robbing people all over the world by selling overpriced fruit!
And since you seem to back them up so much I guess you are acknowledging them personally, tell them to find their own rice bowl the right way and not doing criminals, start from bottom up. Work their assess up and stop being racketeers.
@@wisdomelves5838 trees are good for the environment, but my main concern are the way they keeps saying they run their business on honesty. You can't be honest when you are selling a fruits that are sold by the pounds, when open up inside are either rotten or spoiled. Check your quality standards before you shipped them millions miles away to customers that put rice in your bowl and food on your plate.
highly wish we can utilise the durian tough fibrous skin for domestic purposes rather than just being thrown away into the rubbish dump.

Perkara paling asas ialah anda bercucuk tanam diatas tanah bukan milik anda. Sedangkan rakyat terbanyak hidup menderita tanpa secebis tanah untuk bertani. Tau kah kenapa? Sebabnya adalah mereka taat kepada undang2, mematuhi arahan kerajaan dan menjaga maruah diri. Sebaliknya anda bila berjaya hanya berfikir berapa banyak keuntungan dan menganggap kerajaan tidak berhak mengambil balik tanah itu. Malu lah pada diri sendiri.. Apa lagi nak protes kpd kerajaan. Saya cadangkan tanah itu disewakan pula kpd petani muda yg yang berminat, atau sewa dipungut dari mereka sejak mula membuka kawasan itu. Mereka juga boleh terus mengusahakan dgn syarat dibayar sewa tanah mengikut kadar yg ditetapkan oleh kerajaan.

You can get musang king plants in Thailand. We have started a durian farm in Buriram and have planted musang king and monthong. There are many suppliers of plants here in Thailand
Any chemical used? Just a silly question.
In Thailand they pick them green and spray them with something to get ripe and on top of that they inject fungicide into the trees I don't think they do that in Malaysia or Singapore
