I did speak to Joe the golf manager and he said that’s exactly what has been happening. People have gone for walks around the course and don’t even play golf.
Thank you Gary… I am slowly improving with my health and believe me this wasn’t easy filming this. Seriously hilly at times and carrying a heavy camera and a tripod over my shoulder too.
As a member of Lostwithiel from back in the mid 90s this was a treat, John. Thanks 🙏 The back 9 which has been retained is truly beautiful with some lovely golf holes, and is relatively flat along the river. You played it well too!
Thank you Stuart. It’s great to hear from People who knew the old course. I think the reopening has been very well received so far but all those popping over to take a look or try it out.
Thanks John. So refreshing to see a repurposed golf course. You played very well by the way. Keep vlogs like this coming. I’m in Canada and we’re lack 9 hole courses here. I’m 73 so 9 is enough. Love your honest style.
Thank you so much Norman. If you look at my back catalogue you will see that I do enjoy finding 9 hole courses as I agree with you that for many people 9 is fine. Time can also be a factor in peoples busy lives with families etc.
Decided to watch a couple of smaller courses back to back. Seriously you are doing a great job with your game John, but more importantly you are showcasing #grassroots golf perfectly in Cornwall. Keep it up my friend
THANK YOU TO THE OWNERS AND MANAGEMENT OF GILLYFLOWER GOLF AND GILLYFLOWER FARM FOR ALLOWING ME TO COLE AND PLAY AND FILM AT THEIR WONDERFUL AND HIGHLY IMAGINATIVE NEW COURSE.
You should have seen me trying to walk down that slope with a trolly and a seriously big. Camera and tripod slung over my shoulder. Hair raising wasn’t the word for it ha ha.
Hi there David, I think there will be things like that happening next year but right now it’s literally a caravan and two portaloos lol. So you need to bring everything with you… The management did actually try and get me a buggy and borrowed one for the day from a local golfer but it broke down after about 100 yards during the first video we made ha ha. But it was lively that they tried to sort something.
Hi john just watched gillyflower video well played what a lovely course will be fantastic in the future stay well all the best to u and your family dave north west 😎🎶
Good morning Dave, for the delay in replying but I was out all day filming. Thank you for your kindness as always and yes I think with the imagination and expertise they have at their disposal it will become and amazing course in the future.
Looks nice Not sure how the separate tees work for 18 though? If you’re waiting to tee off on the first and someone is playing the same hole as the 10th, who tees off first ? Also , let’s say someone has just tee’d off as the 10th , and another 4 ball is on the tee waiting as there’s a little back log as it’s busy . You’re on the same hole waiting to tee off as the first . Who tees off ? If you tee off that means the ones waiting on the 10th tee are gonna have to wait even longer , when they’re already backing up ! How frustrating would that be ? !!!!!! Or am I missing something? Never played a course like this !
It’s a very interesting concept isn’t it… I will be going back next week to do some more filming so will ask for a better answer but from what I understand it, it won’t happen because they actually book you a tee time for the front nine and a separate tee time for the back nine. So I guess they work out who will be playing at any given point.
I will check in my bag now ha ha. But I usually don’t lose things. It’s just that I tend to walk to the camera and grab it first as it’s priority for me lol
That old oak is amazing. X
It’s truly beautiful x
Great shot in the second Oggie xx
Thank you so much. I think after a shaky start I played rather well.
Fantastic looking course, I will definitely bring Alfie here
Absolutely my friend but remember to take everything you need with you. They may have drinks etc available soon but not when I went.
what an amazing transformation.
It really is… a special place for the future
What a fantastic looking course, 👌.
It’s a good one Badger but a tough one too at times. Can’t wait to get back out there and show you and the lads around next week.
Looks lovely.
It’s worth a visit my friend. A great experience x
Excellent. And very well played too.
Thank you so much my friend x
What a beautiful place to play golf and maybe just have a walk around.
I did speak to Joe the golf manager and he said that’s exactly what has been happening. People have gone for walks around the course and don’t even play golf.

Once again a great show of golf improvement overload plus the added bonus of getting round 9 holes ..getting fitter well done John
Thank you Gary… I am slowly improving with my health and believe me this wasn’t easy filming this. Seriously hilly at times and carrying a heavy camera and a tripod over my shoulder too.

Aww is that what it used to be called lol
@@BIGOGGIEGOLF yes it was. It truly looks amazing. Just rounding the old boys up now to go back and play…
Looking forward to seeing this course mature. X
I hope to visit regularly as it does.
What a great concept. Can you imagine being able to pick fruit as you play.
I can’t wait x love a cherry I do.
That 2nd reminder me of a hole at Oakhampton, but a river running behind not train tracks.. Nice little 2 there John.
I will have to go and take a look at that one my friend x
Well played John . Looks a nice course
It’s very good my friend. Early days but the potential is massive x
Nice birdie sir
Finish with a birdie
Well done 👍
Thank you so much my friend. It was a good day, tough filming alone and carrying cameras but such a great place to experience.
Your game is really improving well, Dan is doing a good job with you keep up the good work 👏
Thank you Robert. In fact I am off to see Dan tomorrow x
your getting better john
Aww thank you my friend. I am starting to relax more about my game and just enjoying it x
Decided to watch a couple of smaller courses back to back. Seriously you are doing a great job with your game John, but more importantly you are showcasing #grassroots golf perfectly in Cornwall. Keep it up my friend
Thank you so much Simon. I wonder if the tourist board will notice me sometime lol
@@BIGOGGIEGOLF no 🏌️😂
This looks it is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see it develop over the years on your channel.
It’s going to be very exciting x
Your game had improved immensely.
Thank you Rob I think it’s getting there slowly x
THANK YOU TO THE OWNERS AND MANAGEMENT OF GILLYFLOWER GOLF AND GILLYFLOWER FARM FOR ALLOWING ME TO COLE AND PLAY AND FILM AT THEIR WONDERFUL AND HIGHLY IMAGINATIVE NEW COURSE.
Played it when it was the old course.
The drop hole is unbelievably steep and you have to go down at a snails pace, even in a buggy
You should have seen me trying to walk down that slope with a trolly and a seriously big. Camera and tripod slung over my shoulder. Hair raising wasn’t the word for it ha ha.
Very picturesque course John. Very hilly - can you hire a buggy?

Ps when can we see the madness of Eddie and the legend Sturman are they both OK 👍
Eddie is currently training for a new job and also away on holiday. Darren is soon to return I promise x
Looks nice

Did you leave your 9 iron on the 5th? 😮
I will check in my bag now ha ha. But I usually don’t lose things. It’s just that I tend to walk to the camera and grab it first as it’s priority for me lol
@@BIGOGGIEGOLF camera is probably worth more than your 9 iron 😀
