This is a variation of the process, as shown this is Electro slag Consumable Nozzle welding which was a later derivative of the main process which is a continuous wire fed between 2 water cooled shoes that are attached to a motorised head which travels in the vertical up direction. The Russians were World leaders in this process 60 years ago.
