@@tendring_woodturning I still consider myself a newbie. My husband got my lethe for my birthday February 2023. I am really enjoying learning this art. I really appreciate artist such as yourself that are willing to share your talent. Thank you very much for taking time to share. Have a great day.
@lyndaowen2154 what a great birthday present and glad you enjoy it. It’s good for the soul, and there’s nothing I love more getting creative evenings and weekends. Super glad you enjoy watching the videos, takes quite some effort and I’d like to post more if I could. If there’s anything you’d like me to do then shout, and reach out if you have a question at any time. Happy Turning 😊😊
I love the bowl. Very clever. If you could have given details on all the steps, so we got to learn what each chemical or oil was then that would have helped a little more but still a wonderful piece. Well done.
Appreciate the comment, thanks Robert. You’re right of course, apart from the resin, I used sanding sealer, gloss lacquer and Danish oil on the inside. Hope that helps pal? Let me know if there’s other questions. 😊👍
Appreciate the comment, sub, and share John, thanks very much. Reach out anytime if there’s something I missed or you have questions. In the meantime welcome to the channel and thanks for watching. 😊👍
Thanks Kevin and welcome. It important to seal the wood to avoid resin bleeding into the end grain. I used cellulose standing sealer (diluted 50% with meths) and then a quick spray with any clear lacquer. Hope that helps pal and reach out any time. I’m assuming you’re a woodturner? 😊👍
Beautiful work! I only wish I could do half as well as this! Maybe someday! Loved watching your work. What did you use for the final finish on the wood?
Appreciate the comment, thanks very much and you’ll get there if you want to. Final finish on the inside is Danish oil. How long have you been woodturning? Let me know if I can help in any way 😊👍
@@chipsteinberg5046 awesome. A good start would be simple rim inlays. You can buy small quality craft resin and mica powder (I’d recommend pearl mica powders). Just mix and pour, run a flame over the top quickly to pop the bubbles and cure for 24 hours. You can cut resin with traditional tools, just go easy to avoid chip out. If it works out well and you’re enjoying it then investing in a carbide tool with a negative rake cutter is your best friend for resin. If you want to start doing big pours then that’s a little different , and if so reach out and I’ll point you in the right direction. Hope that helps pal 😊👍👍
Don’t apologise and thanks for watching. I was taught as a child from my grandfather that the more work put in to finishing the better the glossy look and quality. Everyone’s different and what’s right is an opinion. Appreciate the comment. 😊😊👍👍

A beautiful handmade bowl, I really like the blue in lays, even more in the bottom. It's very unique.
Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching. 😊👍
An absolutely stunning piece of art. I loved how the blue resin acted as a perfect foil to the polished wood.
Appreciate the comment, thanks very much Jane and I agree, the blue inlay contrasts well. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend. 👍😊

I'm a new subscriber (Ireland). Love your work, mighty man! What did you brush and spray on the wood before pouring the resin? Thanks for posting!

Beautiful and really different. I love the side inlay and it goes both through the bowl and the foot. Haven’t seen that before, thanks very much. 😍

Совсем обленился. Уже мешалка электрическая...
Want to try one? I can send a link 🙂. Good for reducing bubbles when mixing epoxy resin.
