I don’t think he really knows much about 808s tbh. A lot of Poppa’s beats (though I love a lot of them) seem to have bass lines that kinda don’t line up or they’re poorly mixed like this. It sounds like he was making this beat on fl studio, tried to make the bass as loud as possible and then forgot to take the limiter on the master, so everything kinda feels really muddy.
