Absolutely one of Ed Harris' best performances...but then again, the guy is absolutely incredible in everything. Jude Law blows it out of the water. I HAVE to watch this movie every 3-5 years...such a well made film from Direction to acting to music to editing!
The first 15 mins when they travel across the river and are given their 1 gun per 2 soldiers is some of my favorite war scenes. Easily my favorite Stalingrad movie scene!

This is movie is very inaccurate I mean it's an American movie depicting the soviet union after all alot of this movie so inaccurate to the point actual veterans who fought in this battle felt very disrespected by America's portrayal of there struggle
Your amazed by that cause WW2 seems like it was a 150 years ago but it wasnt..I was born in 72 so its ended 27 years before I was born..And only five years before my father..theres still WW2 veterans that are still alive though not near as many as there was when I was a kid..But their still some.
I was born in 79 and only became obsessed with the WW2 recently... I wonder if thats it. I'm 45 now and it all went down about 45 years before I was born... and I like to think I'm only about half-way to two thirds done with this meat box.
The Germans have German acccents but the Russians have British accents. Something i love about this movie. Also Comrade Danilov, such a likeable actor. He aslo played the starring role in the film about Martin Luther.
Why, for a people who have suffered so much, do they have to endure another war of useless sacrifice? Do they deserve the leadership they get? Will there ever be checks and balances in the way they are governed? Is it up to the rest of the world to deliver sanity to them?
I like historical war movies but get sick of love stories in them. It must be a great place to meet girls. Hey mum I met this chick in Stallingrad..... Ps Nikita the fate of the city doesn't lie with 1 sniper

One of the best movies ever made. The sad thing is, people went through exactly what was depicted.
They probably went through worse as well.
The sad thing is that this movie is extremly inaccurate in its depication of the Battle of Stalingrad and of Vasilij Zajtsev

One of the better movies. Gives a good feel for the filth and hardship of war.
