You’re very welcome! I like to know what plants I’m looking at on videos too - it helps no matter how long we’ve been gardening. 💛 What’s in your garden so far? It’s always fun picking out plants! 🌼
@@GardenSanity I recently purchased 2 Kramer's Red Winter Heaths because I adore yours! In our small garden, I already have Agastache and Salvia, along with day-lilies, hardy geraniums, and alliums from the previous owners. However, I'm struggling with designing the space to avoid it looking chaotic. Although we initially chose this house for its small garden size to reduce maintenance, I find myself itching for more space now!
@@LuNacyGoose Oh that always happens: we start wanting more garden space! 😂 (That's true with me, definitely!) It sounds like a wonderful selection of plants in your garden. One way to make everything look more cohesive is to choose a small plant to intersperse throughout the garden bed, which will tie everything together. It could be a groundcover used as edging, or a lower perennial or annuals that will bloom all season long. For example, just looking at all of the blooming daffodils in my large center garden bed instantly ties the entire bed together. So think of a visual like that. 👍 And remember: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's your garden, so if you love the look of having different plants -- there are many plant "collectors" who have many single varieties (one plant of each) in the same garden -- that's just fine! I'm a strong advocate to plant what brings you joy. ❤ Another simple way to bring some cohesion is to plant more than one of a variety -- for example you just did that by purchasing two Kramer's Red Winter Heaths. And the different blooming times of each plant variety also keeps things interesting. If you look back at some of my garden tours, I don't have anything super cohesive in my garden beds, but I do occasionally repeat plants that I love from bed to bed, moreso with evergreens, such as the slow-growing (and low in size) Blue Star Junipers. Adding a few evergreens -- or even evergreen perennials that mostly keep their color year-round can also help! I think the colors of green and blue-green dotted throughout a garden bed can keep it cohesive just fine! 😃
@@GardenSanity thank you so much for taking the time to respond with such a helpful and detailed answer! I will work on picking a favorite to repeat, and watch some of your garden tours for inspiration. There's just so many to choose from - I want them all!
So beautiful & cheery! I'm addicted to tete-a-tetes. I have them in the back border (southern exposure).. they've been blooming for 2 weeks (7A). The ones in front border (northern side) are just beginning to open. Amazing to see the different timing. Thanks for sharing Laura - you have a lovely garden! The birds singing + garden eye candy = 😍 PS three days ago I spotted the bleeding hearts pushing through. They're growing a least an inch a day. Isn't nature great?!
Hi Gina! So happy you also have tete-a-tetes! 👍I'm seeing the same thing: my backyard daffodils are taking longer to come up versus my front yard which is in full sun these days since the trees haven't leafed out yet. The longer the daffodil show goes on, the better -- right? 😄 My bleeding hearts haven't shown up yet, but I'm watching for them. This will be my first Spring with them, so I'm eager to see how fast they grow like you described. 💛
Thanks Doleen! 💛 Daffodils make everything prettier! I’m glad you’re enjoying nice weather - we need to savor every moment outdoors until the dreaded humidity arrives in Summer. 😀
Your garden is always so beautiful. You put a lot of Love in your garden. Thanks for letting us hear the beautiful Bird Songs. That is a Purple Finch. We have those too.
Hi Linda -- thank you so much! 💛 It makes me happy that you can see how much love I put into my garden -- it means a lot to read that! 😊 About the Finch: I keep going back and forth on whether it is a Purple Finch or a House Finch. 😃Every time I look up the birds on the internet for comparison, it seems more like House rather than Purple -- but -- I keep thinking it's still a Purple Finch too! They have such a beautiful song! I'm just starting to learn my birds, so I appreciate the help!
The Internet said that they look the same but there songs are different & they give examples of the songs so maybe look that up & listen to them to see what they are since they are nesting in your bush. Glad to help you out.@@GardenSanity

Ohhhhhh im living vicariously through you!!!! I have a few shoots of things but about 4” tall and 5 feet of leaves to rake 😂😂😂. Today it was snowing and last weekend 68 degrees. I’m sure my plants are a bit confused. Yayy it spring!! Nope, winter….. no, spring. Crazy! Thank you for your gorgeous landscape; it gives me a bit of spring fever now 🌸🌸🌸
Oh Chris, how do you handle those weather extremes? 🥶☀️ I admit I was apprehensive two weeks ago wondering if we might get March snow, but I think we’re into Spring now. It’s probably why the Daffodils were 2 weeks late this year. I’m thrilled they didn’t drown from all the Winter rains. 🤣🌼
@@GardenSanity I’m glad because I loved seeing them. This weather is too weird for here so we will likely get snow by mid April and it will be sad. I have already transplanted a flame thrower red bud from the back to the front of the house but as long as the plants are all in the same temp soil wise, they are still dormant so technically they don’t go through transplant shock but I will keep you posted because that was a bold move on my part but the ground was not frozen so I gambled. Looking forward to your next videos. When I see the notification I get so excited!!! 😁
So you know how pretty these are in person Blake! 👍 Crocus bulbs are small so they’re easy to tuck in here and there. This is the first year the blooming overlapped! 🌼😀
As always, your early spring garden is spectacular. My white and purple crocuses are up. My daffodils have not opened yet. Bleeding hearts are no where to be seen 👀 so far. Alliums, day and tiger lilies are all shooting up. My favorite flower is the tulip. Deer ate them in the front, so I planted in the back yard which is fenced in. They have been coming up now for several years. I love them. Do you have any? 🌷
Thank you very much Carly! 😊 I finally located some -- but not all -- of my Bleeding Hearts, so I need to mark them as they are smaller than the weeds already needing to be removed! I love Tulips too, but rabbits also eat them, and for years I watched our neighbors have theirs eaten to the ground. Last year was the first year we didn't have any rabbits in our backyard -- as far as we know. So maybe in the future I might try some. I'll need a few more years of not seeing any rabbits squeezing through any hidden holes first. (We blocked up everywhere we could see.) 🤣
Thank you Barbara! The anticipation is fun . . . but also I'm getting anxious for the full Spring season to kick in. And then I remind myself to enjoy this wonderful weather and slow down! 💛 😀
Beautiful video especially the crocus, I see the knock out roses that have yet to bloom, my son gave me a rose bush from Aldi last mother’s day, I didn’t prune it down do I do that now before it blooms there were no instructions or name to the roses and I haven’t the foggiest idea. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light. Blessings 💜

I am not sure when will they bloom and for how long to be honest as it’s my first time with them, but I am just enjoying the process. Thanks again 🙏🙏- AJ.
My pleasure AJ! I'm so happy you're enjoying the process, because to me that's the joy of gardening: trying something new and then when "it works" simply enjoying what you helped create. (I have many "it works!" moments.) The one thing I'll mention is that Mother Nature does funny things year to year, so sometimes mine open on time, other times early...it's always a surprise each year!
Beautiful! Zone5b here, so our daffodils just started. Had gorgeous lungwort flowers blooming until the rabbits nailed them all in retaliation for my covering the crocus with cages. How do your crocus survive?
I'm so sorry about your Lungwort -- that's so disappointing to hear, as usually rabbits leave hairy leaves alone. 😥 (Also disappointed because I still want to add some to my gardens somewhere!) I gave up on my crocuses several years ago, after planting hundreds of crocus bulbs expecting a sea of beautiful color throughout that center garden bed. Between the squirrels digging some up and the rabbits devouring them -- including eating the flowers -- I realized there was no way I could win. I was SO upset. Fast forward a few years and I'm finally seeing these crocuses, though not in the quantity I planted, and the rabbits haven't been seen yet this season. But I know they're out there . . . plotting their next move. I have a video showing all of the rabbit damage from years ago you might get a kick out of: ruclips.net/video/mSl0S6aINPU/видео.htmlsi=5NT2H3IvrF4YMmOt 🤣

Oh no, that is SO unacceptable! 🤬 Maybe they already got payback with feeling ill after sampling them. 🤞 How rude to spit them out. Whatever happened to garden manners?
I'm with ya, sister! Squirrels are digging up my allium, rabbits are eating my lungwort flowers and everything else is covered in cages to protect them from deer. My garden is a prison! 😂
Hi Laura🌺 .Your garden looks so beautiful with these pretty plants and the daffodils are charming . Have a great day .🌺🌻🌺
