It’s quite the drive especially going from Ouray to Silverton! Lots more of the steep drop offs and no guard rails. My wife said never again unless she was driving!! Lol! We loved Silverton and visiting some of the historic sites. Since we were in our RV, camped in a local park within walking distance of everything.
Many times the locations tourist find attractive are hard on workers or locals. There is a lack of or high cost of rent and other expenses. Hope you ended up in a good spot.

I lived in Ouray years ago but had to move to find work. Great place to visit but not so great to live there.

This used to be a truly special area in the late 60's early 70's before it became a tourist trap. Fudge in Silverton what a disgrace..
The views and area are absolutely beautiful.
