Places in Conisbrough my Granddad would have known

  • For my family. My Grandad, Laurence Calvert VC, would have lived in Conisbrough as a child and young man. Here are some of the places he would have known.
    I have found the location of his home, the Alma Pub, and a memorial plaque, plus the location of where the Colliery would have been.
    Internet search 'Calvertfilm'.

    i was born in Denaby lived there and Conisbrough,married in the Wesleyan chapel opp your grandads,i enjoyed your film,thanks from Ireland.

    My dad still lives in the area few minutes walk away from the Alma pub. Have always liked Conisbrough, its got more history than the average place!

    I just heard the Wesleyan chapel has closed down after all this time,and it's going to be ......another bloody restaurant.

    Live near the first two places they have renamed march street not sure why it will allways be march street to locals
