Most steamers have plastic trays to steam with, although some have glass or stainless steel. I have one made from steel coated with enamel, but it is from the 1930's and has holes around the top of the container but that's it. No holes on the bottom to drain any gathered steam. I think it was designed as a 'keep warm' container.
