I will say the upcoming Sega Genesis Collection for PS4/XBO/PC is going to have a lot of the mainline Sega first party games on Genesis coming up in a few months here even if you missed out on the 360/PS3 compilation. If you got the spare points, pick up a lot of the import stuff and third party stuff that won't be on there.
Love the format for the vid. Also awesome video. I did pick up zombies and ghoul patrol. I have one nitpick though. I feel you should have included techmo bowl for the arcade as an honorable mention at the least. Reason being you literally can't get it anywhere else. Once wii shop is gone you won't be able to purchase it anywhere else

Finally used my points pretty cool I used the soley on Wii ware games had to let go of the crystal chronicle games and adventure island games. There was a lot of games like bomber man and trigger that are on psn and xbl. But for the most part I got what I wanted. So I'm pretty happy. The only virtual console I got was ys 1 and 2. I guess the only way for me to get the VC games would be emulation which sucks but really is better than spending thousands of dollars on the original hardware. I would have loved to play ghoul patrol, the air zonk game, iron clad, and chronic trigger on my Wii but sacrifices had to be made. Cool vid btw
Yeah the Wii is VERY easy to hack, and once it is, it's got so many cool apps and features. In addition to being able to DL and play any Wii/VC/WiiWare game, you can also DL emulators for almost all older consoles, and there's a Gamecube app that will let you play roms instead of having to have the discs.
As a kid, I remember buying the Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog just because it was cheaper than the Genesis version. Not one of my better decisions 😅

So I suggest all retailers, especially GameStop and Gametraders to add a reminder label stating "After 01/31/2019, in-game purchases will no longer be possible".
If you're into shmups, Gleylancer is another awesome Genesis shooter that never got released outside of Japan and one I'd definitely recommend to pickup next to MUSHA on VC before it goes bye bye.

Not a problem! There are A LOT of VC and Wiiware titles on there and it's hard to keep track of what's been released when and where and if it's also been re-released or ported to other platforms. I'm sure I'd have missed a few things had I done a similar list. Your's definitely hit a lot of the good exclusives!

If you don't want to spend MOAR wii points into it, I recommend Bomberman 94 for Turbografx16/PCENGINE. Otherwise spent until 1p.m. if you live in america around 15$ into this, to get around 2-3 games out of it in the end, ESPECIALLY Wiiware games which become abandonware at this point! Other games I'd recommen would be: Chrono Twins DX (Wiiware), any Rebirth Konami game (Gradius the least from these because high difficulty), Lords of Thunder (Turbografx16/PCENGINE), Strider (Genesis/Mega Drive), The Last Blade 1 (2nd game is a bit unbalanced, has 3 characters more, but much more difficult!) and Sengoku 3 (Neo Geo), and Rage of the Gladiator (Wiiware, very punchoout esque with it's own uniqueness!)

However, after watching My Life in Gaming's video, they made a good point that it was MADE for Wii controls, so that probably makes it worth buying for the Wii as opposed to playing it on your computer.

Neel Behl yes I do believe that you can buy Wii VC games on Wii U. However if a game is available on both Wii and Wii U shops it’s probably better to go with Wii U version
For the games that are exclusive to the Wii Virtual Console on the list linked in the description (not available directly through Wii U), you have to put Wii Points on the Wii Virtual Console from the Wii Channel before the deadline (later today) or you won't be able to buy games on the Wii Virtual Console itself. If you have money on there, you're fine until January of 2019 when they close the shop officially. If you download the games to your hard drive, they will remain on there unless you take them off. Unfortunately, memory fills up fast, so you will need to use an SD card to move things around occasionally, just be sure not to delete them or you will have to re-download them before January of 2019. I hope that makes sense. Sorry for the late reply but I haven't had access to reliable internet before now. Good luck!
its ok i have 14 of the 17 games i purchased last night i just need to figure out the sd card and external thing since i have a wii u and its more complicated few games i couldnt get but i spent 150 dollars so whatever, nintendo is expensive and overpriced anyway i was watching a lot of youtube videos and i saw they had a sale at 1 point or club nintendo when games were like a dollar each even 2 3 dollars is fine but 5 8 10 and upwards is too much
I don’t get it. Everything on the wii shop channel could probably fit on a 1tb hdd, and managing it should be minimal overhead. I can’t imagine it not being profitable to just set it and forget it. It seems like pennies from heaven. I know it is probably more complex than that with probably needing server racks of hdds so everyone could get at it in a timely fashion.
I got 16000 points I got mega man 9. I was thinking I should get nes games. Then thought well I can just use an emulator. So I want to use my points really wisely. And only get the best games only on Wii Ware because once those are gone they is no guarantee that they will be available again. If I had more money and saw the deadline sooner I would have put 250$.
Now I kind of wish I had a Wii for the smhups alone but can't justify getting into it just because the shop is shutting down. Oh well. If they aren't going to be available any other way, I'm pretty sure a retro Pie setup for emulation falls within the 200 or less range. Using critic reviews is kind of dodgy for something like Chrono Trigger. Ports years later rarely get as good of scores as the original. By and large the DS version is considered the definitive version and it's easy to find.
I hear you, with the Wii Shop closing, it's officially becoming a dead console in my mind. Stephen Beaty had a good suggestion about using a Wii U with the Wii Channel but I've heard the Pie setup is a good solution too. Good call on the Chrono Trigger reviews but I honestly haven't played through all of the versions and I had so many titles to cover in such a short time, I had to rely on the research material I had available which was a score aggregate. I have Chrono Trigger on DS but haven't ever had time to play through it, so I'll have to run through the SNES and DS versions to compare sometime. Thank you for the suggestion!
The Wii U has had a brutal 1-2 punch in the past year between the loss of the Wii Shop Channel and the loss of miiverse. It's really sad to see. That said while people kinda poo poo on the Wii U because it can't output 240p what it can do is output Wii games on the Wii U gamepad. It's a bit awkward with games that use the pointer (although the gamepad does have a built in sensor bar) but it's still a really nice way to play those games.
Yep, they're pretty goofy! That's one of the reasons I couldn't put it on my list of recommendations and just left it as an honorable mention. I don't regret buying it but it's not the best Adventure Island game for sure!
goemon047 You know it annoys me that they updated it to use 3D graphics for the sake of it. The original 2D graphics were better which were also available on Virtua Console. Must be something to do with game development these days that makes a 3D game easier to produce than a 2D one
Yeah, it really seems that's what they were going for there. I agree, the original is much better and I've heard that designing a game with pixel art is more expensive than just doing it in 3D but I don't know a lot about game development personally.
I'm sorry you didn't dig the list but I stuck to the exclusive games. I came across La-Mulana during my research and while it looked cool, it didn't make the list because it isn't exclusive to the Wii Virtual Console but I'll be sure to check it out.

I don’t get it. Everything on the wii shop channel could probably fit on a 1tb hdd, and managing it should be minimal overhead. I can’t imagine it not being profitable to just set it and forget it. It seems like pennies from heaven. I know it is probably more complex than that with probably needing server racks of hdds so everyone could get at it in a timely fashion.

I got 16000 points I got mega man 9. I was thinking I should get nes games. Then thought well I can just use an emulator. So I want to use my points really wisely. And only get the best games only on Wii Ware because once those are gone they is no guarantee that they will be available again. If I had more money and saw the deadline sooner I would have put 250$.
Now I kind of wish I had a Wii for the smhups alone but can't justify getting into it just because the shop is shutting down. Oh well.
If they aren't going to be available any other way, I'm pretty sure a retro Pie setup for emulation falls within the 200 or less range.
Using critic reviews is kind of dodgy for something like Chrono Trigger. Ports years later rarely get as good of scores as the original. By and large the DS version is considered the definitive version and it's easy to find.
Get a Wii U then, iirc there's some good shmups on there too and you can use it to access the Wii eShop as well
I hear you, with the Wii Shop closing, it's officially becoming a dead console in my mind. Stephen Beaty had a good suggestion about using a Wii U with the Wii Channel but I've heard the Pie setup is a good solution too. Good call on the Chrono Trigger reviews but I honestly haven't played through all of the versions and I had so many titles to cover in such a short time, I had to rely on the research material I had available which was a score aggregate. I have Chrono Trigger on DS but haven't ever had time to play through it, so I'll have to run through the SNES and DS versions to compare sometime. Thank you for the suggestion!

The Wii U has had a brutal 1-2 punch in the past year between the loss of the Wii Shop Channel and the loss of miiverse. It's really sad to see.
That said while people kinda poo poo on the Wii U because it can't output 240p what it can do is output Wii games on the Wii U gamepad. It's a bit awkward with games that use the pointer (although the gamepad does have a built in sensor bar) but it's still a really nice way to play those games.
You can just get WADs of these games and Homebrew

Yep, they're pretty goofy! That's one of the reasons I couldn't put it on my list of recommendations and just left it as an honorable mention. I don't regret buying it but it's not the best Adventure Island game for sure!
goemon047 You know it annoys me that they updated it to use 3D graphics for the sake of it. The original 2D graphics were better which were also available on Virtua Console. Must be something to do with game development these days that makes a 3D game easier to produce than a 2D one
Yeah, it really seems that's what they were going for there. I agree, the original is much better and I've heard that designing a game with pixel art is more expensive than just doing it in 3D but I don't know a lot about game development personally.
Yeah that Wii Ware version... People complained about the cancellation of a new Bonk game, but if it would have looked like that, no thanks.

I'm sorry you didn't dig the list but I stuck to the exclusive games. I came across La-Mulana during my research and while it looked cool, it didn't make the list because it isn't exclusive to the Wii Virtual Console but I'll be sure to check it out.
