You have a beautiful and tidy home!

Finally, furniture that’s not white or from Ikea. Old furniture is so much more sturdy and unique. Lovely home!

I like the message you were trying to send, but not having white furniture doesn't mean "unaesthetic". Your house is still very aesthetic.

I think by “unaesthetic” she meant, she doesn’t buy things to maintain an aesthetic, or say no to items because it doesn’t match an aesthetic. Her home is a collage of many different items.
Also, I didn’t hear her mention not having white furniture specifically.

Your home has aesthetic, girl. It has lots of it. And it looks like someone actually lives there, which is the most beautiful way any home can look.

Must be nice to have a family who managed to keep and pass down beautiful, expensive, or otherwise precious china and furniture

It takes time, some garage sales, or some strategic thrifting to get things that are considered "nice" or relatively expensive. But eventually, you find something that you can cherish and be proud to hand down to at least one person.

Yard sales, thrift shops and FB marketplace will yield solid wood, attractive furniture for much less than the price of new. No inheritance necessary

i would not describe this as unaesthetic. i know there are some really specific aesthetics out there now so the word has taken on a different connotation, but to me your house still does look aesthetic 🙂 it has its own look and style, even though that look isn’t “cottage core”or “urban minimalist” or something. it’s also really neat and clean! as someone who grew up with hoarder parents, i think tidiness & cleanliness are wonderful in themselves. your home is beautiful, and it’s nice to see a video like this. thanks for sharing.

Your home is cozy and inviting! Your house doesn't fall into a particular aesthetic trend, but everything still sort of goes together. Love to see old pieces of furniture being used. They're so much sturdier than this particle board stuff!

i feel like you have to be a bit out of touch to consider this "unaesthetic", your house is beautiful and even though everything is thrifted, it's still a upper middle class home.. everything is perfectly imperfect haha if this isnt considered aestheticly pleasing then my house is a trashcan 😂😅

I'm here for this kind of content. I too love 'preloved' furniture. Most of what we have is not new. Much better for the environment - as well as my pocket!

When I hear underconsumption I don’t think “only buying secondhand things” I think “not buying unnecessary things AT all”we don’t NEED wall accessories or fake plants, are they cute and make the room look nice- yes, but we don’t need it.
So basically in what I think of for underconsumption means in a living room you have a couch just enough pillows, maybe an extra chair a coffee table but even that’s not NECESSARY, it’s helpful though, a tv and tv stand ( again not necessary but definitely nice to have)
    And that’s it.
In a bathroom no cutesy decorations, just a shower curtain, your bath and hygiene products, some towels and your hand soap.
Under consuming means consuming less not buying the same amount but just second hand 🙄

No idea why the algorithm decided I should see this but I love it! Thank you so much for sharing. My house looks similar, doesn't have a strong theme or aesthetic but is just my home that I live in and love, lots of hand-me-down items from family and friends (everything from our couch to our dishes) and mostly thrifted decor. It might not look like Pinterest, but a home represents the people who live in it ❤️❤️❤️

There’s nothing wrong with having an aesthetic home, especially in this current culture when you have to fight so hard for your right to be able to have a beautiful space that suits your personal taste .

Apart from it having a lack of character and it being the reason a lot of old good furniture is just chucked out instead of being looked after and passed down.
