He is fab. Have made many traditional bears over the past 25 years but am new to needle felting. Guess I just have to try one of your little fellows. X
Nikki Lenihan thank you so much! I have a badger pin tutorial in the playlist. Have a look and let me know what you think. 😊 here’s the link. ruclips.net/video/T6oK3V4L768/видео.html
Omg he’s adorable! You make it look so easy. I had purchased a kit on Amazon but have been intimidated to start. You go so dangerously close to your fingers. Is Felting really popular in Norway? Do you have easy access to materials? Or Do you have to rely online for your supplies. I just love anything tiny like this oh my goodness that’s so cute I would love to see a little tiny bunny and maybe a tiny mouse.
Thanks. 😊 I know felting between the fingers, as I do, looks dangerous…and it is if you don’t have a lot of experience. 😊. When felting this way, I do shallow jabs without removing the needle head and I use my fingers as guides. I have actually never had a serious stabbing injury. After awhile you’ll learn not to poke your fingers. 😉. The best advice…use good sharp needles and never needle felt when you’re tired or distracted. Felting is somewhat popular in Norway but mostly wet felting. I buy my needles from Heidifeathers (I believe she’s in England) and my wool comes from a wool company on the west coast of Norway. You can buy some wool for needle felting in the local hobby shops but the quality is not the same. Hope you enjoy maybe some of my other tutorials. 😊 Happy new year!
If you want to make movable/bendable arms and legs you can use wire. Instead of felting arms and legs you can wrap wire with merino wool roving. See my fairy tutorial to learn how. It’s in my needle felting playlist.
Does anyone know if this would work with Alpaca fur? It's sooooo soft and I'm not positive that the fibers would hold together well. Ever work with alpaca fur? Any tips?
It is possible, but you would have to work the fibers a lot more. I find it difficult to get it as smooth as I want it. The little needle holes tend to be visible. But by all means, give it a try and see what you think. You may have a different experience. 😊
What an awesome bear! Fabulous job! I will be trying this today. I am making 8"- 9" Santa's and I want to sit a bear in a cone for him to hold or to have in a cone to hold in his hand. I saw that someone asked what the foam pad was. Can you please post a link of a better explanation, name of product? I appreciate it and you. I am just picking up N. Felting after 2 years of going away from it. Need to keep busy during this annoying pandemic. BE SAFE, and THANK YOU!!!
So glad that you like it. Thanks😊 I’ll see if I can figure out where I purchased the foam pad. Bought a couple online years ago. So I haven’t purchased any for a while.
Janet Crompton hi! The pad is just a foam pad I purchased online. You can find them with different densities. I can surely make a cat tutorial in the near future. 😊

How too you make moveable parts on the bears
