fuck, new ui is such a trash - not only in technical part, but in designer part as well why the fuck buttons are so big, is this a fucking console store? no, its a PC store and there is even big picture mode for those joystick masochists, why the hell you have to force this crap on us, people who use k&m?
Yeah. I'm one of the steam user that been registered since 2003, I remember when the client used to had a board/card game on it. Just like the classic Windows XP game. Valve need to bring it back. I'd love to play it with a bunch of my friend on Steam someday
Me too, even if I didn't use Steam all that much until like 4 years ago I still find it intriguing and wish I could experience the older versions of the UI.
Signed up for Steam in August of 2006. First game I bought was a retail copy of CSS and then bought Garrys Mod. I've thrown so much hours into Steam playing with old friends together. I didn't have a job until 2011 as I was incredibly young. Once I got a job I poured a lot of money into my Steam account. Having only to split rent and the other necessities I must of bought over a hundred games within the first few months of working. Bought a new computer straight away and spent a lot of time in my younger years enjoying all the games I bought back then. I can honestly say it kept me out of trouble as a young adult and I wouldn't trade the world for those peaceful experiences. Proudly can say I'm a mass buyer who never plays most of the games like much others. Although I've curbed that behaviour a lot as we get older more responsibilities pile up. I'll always a loyal customer on Steam.
Maybe that's just me but I honestly like the simplicity of the Home's layout from 2008. If Steam allow us to customize our own UI and its background color, I would like to choose that one, at least for the classic Home's layout
For those who using Steam since 03, remember when the old Steam client used to had board/card game at Friends section ? I wish Valve didn't removed it. Those stuff need to be back. Somehow I'd love to play them with a bunch of my friend on Steam again.
I remember the good old days of preordering Half Life 2 Silver edition and how excited I was for that game to unlock, man how does time go that fast. Good times! 😎
I know this comment is over a year old, but back in october of 2020, someone made a steam community post titled "I fixed the Old Flat Green Steam Skin", allowing you to use either version of the old green skins!
Man, seeing Steam before I started using it is strange. But its cool to see this. I'm old enough to remember VHS tapes, but I only started using Steam around 2015-16. It went through a lot of changes since then too. But to see Steam before then is awesome to see. Like watching VHS tapes go to discs.
@@maulmemesI got a computer three years ago, so I spent a whole year on torrent trackers because I didn’t have the opportunity to buy games. Now I'm working and that's why I allow myself to buy games on Steam. I already have almost 130 games
I remember the 2004 gui. Emotional flashback. We had white (more yellow) PC cases with Pentium Processors - CD/DVD was a must have. WinXP on HDD took ages to boot up. ...but the graphics cards were tiny compared to todays. We made LAN partys in the garage with our CRT monitors... oh man what a time to live!
I first got Steam to check out the HL2 demo and play Earth's special forces. For me the next big thing was when L4D came out. Now it's all about the Deck.
I still remember my Steam account been registered during Christmas in 2005. 1 thing I miss was the day when we could easily do a trick by changing the region and buy game in cheapest price based on the other region currency we changed without any restriction of their payment system. Not to mentioned when Steam used to had a crypto payment option so I could purchased any stuff on there with a lot of my BTC I had keep. I wish Steam keep the crypto payments on their option and just add another option for another crypto like ETH, Litecoin, altcoin, and etc, etc since there are many valuable crypto currency out there rn
I need a screenshot of the library UI around 2018 (when I started using it instead of emulators), I just remember one day it all changed to what we know today and really want to remember how the library used to look when I started.
Man...its crazy to think that CoD, Steam, and a bunch of other great amazing games released 20 years ago, where have time gone, i was only 3-4 years old when all these amazing things came out, definitely amazing to see Steam and CoD: All Grown Up

I started in 2003 but gave it away to my step brother that account :) it says 12 years of service on this one (and counting) but yea i have it since 2003
This is more of an "Evolution of the Steam Website". Surely there are more images available of the application itself. That's what people remember using. The site is only for initially downloading Steam and for when you aren't near your PC. lol
joined steam on 2018 i just want to play DOTA 2 and when i realize that steam also selling games... you know the 3 x games im starting to buy them... now my steam account have GTA V, and many more... the price kinda good for me....

It would be cool if Steam would allow us to downgrade the UI.
id love to return to 2017, thats when i started gaming and still that UI is better than what we have now

True 2010 steam was food
theres something you can install called millenium, theres not many themes for it but you can get the 2013 ui and green 2003 ui look for it

They do, there's a folder to drop custom skins into, it's a feature valve support
i use the metro skin which is very minimalistic
Nice throwing in the Silent Hill soundtrack over the video. Miss the old days..

Man I definitely feel old. I remember having Steam on my computer and it didn't even have a store. I was born 1995. Jesus
I played nothing but CS 1.6 (even some 1.5) and TF. Later I played CSS which I became addicted too. Thank you Gabe for the wonderful years
