Ken has really come into his own with the hosting duties. He has to be the right choice. He's a genius who can add credibility when giving the clues, and he can relate to the contestants since he was there before too.
Ken is absolutely the new Alex. Got it all. Personality, amazing trivial, yet cool knowledge. Quick on his feet! Please let him be permanent.
Oh c'mon. He has his flaws, too. Be nice Karen.
@@baconbap I agree but I like him better than Mayim(sp)
Nobody will ever be able to replace the great Alex Trebek. But assuming we have two options, Ken is the superior choice and it ain't even close.
@@adamfanforever2003 I agree
He clearly needs to be the next permanent host. At the same time, not getting the job right off the bat probably has worked out better for him and Jeopardy! viewers. He's had time to get smoother on camera and grow his fan base without the whole "anointed successor to a legend" problem.
Crazy you couldnt forecast a tornado before 1950. Today they can track one live on your street.
I now love KEN
“Surprise!” 😂
Ken is excellent. He responds in the moment but keeps it low key ... Maybe this is hyperbole and too soon, but Ken is like Johnny Carson...He's got that mid-Western "blandness", for lack of a better term, but with quick wit and charm ...
exactly on the nose
LOVE him
@@roberttelarket4934 you're cranky
LOL , I answered "Storm"
Just make Ken the permanent host already.
I got this one. At first I said hurricane, but realized you can predict them for days in advance. Then tornado popped in my head suddenly like a real tornado!
Nice man, Ken Jennings is such a great host. We should keep him as the permanent host.
"What is what my wife wants to do for dinner?"
I guessed "Typhoon"😆😅
Honestly didn't think it was that simple! my thoughts were on something bigger in weather terms like Derecho's or Cyclones.
And here I thought I'd know this one because I LOVE meteorology, ironically FOR tornadoes! They're so fascinating! Look up Pilger/Wakefield Nebraska in 2014, to this day I think it's the most fascinating weather event ever, twin EF4 tornadoes on the ground at the same time! Terrifying yet Astounding at the same time!
For this Final Jeopardy Clue, I would have guessed 1 of the following 3.
1: Tornado
2: Tsunami
3: Blizzard
I got this Final Jeopardy! clue right!
Today, it was confirmed that Ken will be unavailable for the upcoming season of The Chase on ABC (he will be replaced by fellow J! alumnus Buzzy Cohen). This frees up one of his conflicting commitments and makes him more available to be the host of Jeopardy! beginning this fall. Some people in the industry are speculating that this is a major step before inking a permanent contract this year. Fingers crossed that this materializes!🤞
👍
Hope this is true. However, I will miss him on theChase.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
@Games and Toilets Productions I don't mess with Sony
You Hollywood wannabees are getting really old.
Who’s going to google the difference between tornado and hurricane after this?
Uhhh…. no one? 😂
I like Ken Jennings.
Hurricane Girl made a baffling $5000 wager which wouldn’t have given her the lead if correct.
Simi's wager was actually 100% perfect. Amy's cover bet was $6,001, and if Amy missed, she'd have $21,999. Simi's $17,000 + $5,000 = $22,000 and a $1 win. Very satisfying to see a player with good wagering strategy!
What is "Oops."
I cheated...I paused the video. My three guesses: tsunami, tornado, or hurricane. I don't buy 'hurricane' because they seem pretty easy to predict. Tsunami...maybe, but I'm going with 'tornado'...
BANG BISCUIT!...NAILED IT!!!! (on a side note I LOL'ed when I saw the player in third place made it to 'Final Jeopardy with $200! I didn't LOL AT him, I just LOL'ed cause it was funny!)
I guessed "Typhoon"😆😁
It has always bothered me that they refer to the tornado in The Wizard of Oz as a cyclone.
That’s what L Frank Baum called it, and if memory serves, he wrote that it followed a perfect North-South axis.
"It's a twistah!"
Great category!!!
Being from Oklahoma, where the winds come sweeping down the plains, I got this right lol
Congrats!! Keep it up 👏👏
Got it! Thanks goes out to the movie Twister. What a classic
My thoughts exactly!
Beat me to it. I remembered that trying to better predict tornadoes was part of the cast's motivation in that movie.
$54,100…that’s barely enough to pay my college tuition! 😂😂😅😪
Jeopardy Millennial Edition
I thought hurricane at first, but even in the days of sail they could reasonably predict nasty storms at sea. So went with tornado. Having lived in Tennessee my whole life, just walking outside, knowing the time of year I can tell when its tornado weather, temps are way warmer than normal, humidity is high, something about the pressure/way the wind is blowing you just get a feel for it over the years.
I felt that it was Tornado because hurricanes have always been predictable, hell there’s an entire timeframe where you know they are at an all time high in likelihood if you live in places like Florida or on the Gulf Coast.
What is Voldemort?
As a storm chaser, I love that this was a Final Jeopardy clue. When worded like this, it leaves a shred of doubt as to what the question could be.
This makes me want a special edition of jeopardy where it’s meteorologists from different networks to see who the best truly is. This would never happen but it would be so cool, jeopardy where I actually know the answers to most of the questions.
Ariel did not have a good day.
OH MY GOD I GUESSED IT RIGHT
Got it mainly because tornadoes are much more difficult to predict than hurricanes. Good job Amy!! These recent ladies have been awesome!!
So cute!
Easy to overthink this one, but the obvious answer is sometimes the right one. 54K in two days is back to some high level play here.
I agree. I started thinking with 1950 = Cold War, and since the USSR detonated its first atomic bomb in 1949, my mind went in that direction and perhaps some weather event potentially triggered by it. Couldn't place what it would have been but that is where the "overthinking" part came in.
Well done Amy
I had thought of hurricane and tornado. I went with hurricane but when Ken said it wasn’t right, I knew it had to be tornado.
I studied meteorology in college and I knew I should get this question right.
Tornado! The word was banned because it was feared that businesses would leave the Midwest due to association of tornadoes. Once the ban was lifted, many lives were saved with proper warnings to seek shelter
I was a weather nut as a kid so I guessed tornado but the wording of the question is pretty strange.
The old US Weather Bureau was very fusty and did not move with the times well. It was actually Air Force forecasters who came up with the technique for identifying conditions where tornadoes might form in the late 1940s.
Confusing phrasing of the answer. One of those that needed to be read multiple times to understand what they were asking for. 😕 still got it right tho!
What is a dust devil ? 🌪⚠
Dust devils are MUCH smaller than tornadoes and start on the ground. See the Wikipedia article.
Yes! It was so easy today. I had $39,000 going into FJ! and bet $35,000 for the winning total of $74,000!
If you know a lot of things, that’s what happens! And no, it’s an app called JeoparScore.
Got it. Extremely easy. Don't understand how anyone could say anything other than tornado. A hurricane is a massive weather system that is hundreds of miles wide, travels for hundreds of miles and obviously was predictable before 1950. A tornado is typically less than a mile wide, forms suddenly and often dissipates quite suddenly, which is why before 1950 it would have been extremely difficult to predict a tornado.
Apply to the show then if these are really easy.
@@nordrassil1 My sister has already been on the show. Maybe I will.
@@nordrassil1 My problem is that I don't care about modern pop music, poetry, or books that much. I would probably lose because of categories like those.
That one was an absolute “gimmie”. Can’t believe 2 out of 3 missed it.
Seemed too easy... was wondering if was going to be something like Tsunami, Derecho or something along those lines that are fairly rare to start.
I have been a huge weather fan and I missed it. Then again, my mother grew up near the infamous double tornado of Palm Sunday 1965 in Indiana, and myself mere miles from the 1974 Xenia tornado - among the first in the nation where a local meteorologist broke into programming to warn people. By then, tornado was used. I said "warning" - it seemed more alerting. I thought tornado was always used. The irony is - the National Weather Service plans to drop most advisories within the next few years.....because people don't pay attention! There's a FInal Jeopardy I would have gotten and you wouldn't have!
@@millenniumman75 I don’t claim to be a high IQ person, just said something pretty basic.
I thought the wording of the question was very confusing. That's my excuse for not knowing the answer (I mean "question").
The second place girl went conservative with her wager bc she was hoping Amy would wager big and get it wrong.
Simi's wager was actually 100% perfect. Amy's cover bet was $6,001, and if Amy missed, she'd have $21,999. Simi's $17,000 + $5,000 = $22,000 and a $1 win. Very satisfying to see a player with good wagering strategy!
Ugh. I 50/50 picked hurricane instead of tornado. 0/2
How was it tornado?! Tornadoes are common! 😭
But the weren’t always predictable.
Tornado is correct, Amy is a pretty good with 2 day of $54,100. Yeah
I guessed Armageddon. I was way off.
I'm beginning to think and wonder that the final Jeopardy questions are one of the easiest questions on the entire show?
Every question is easy when you know the answer.
If you've been watching Jeopardy for years, of course, the questions would become easier. We tend to accumulate more knowledge as life goes along. The addition of the internet has also increased access to knowledge, and cannot be underestimated as a source of our cleverness.
In The Wizard of Oz Dorothy travelled by cyclone, not tornado. That was 1939. So I went with tornado 🌪
Did you make this up on your own, or did you see a "source" somewhere?
I don't know about the book,, but in the movie she was caught in a "twister," which is another name for a tornado. A cyclone is a larger phenomenon, also known as a hurricane.
Ah meteorology, something I’m good at.
I was way off. I thought it was “guaranteed!” :p
Being married to a meteorology major, I got this one right.
Thank God For This Cause My Fire Stick Cut Off On The Final
Ah yes, another Amy.
Tornado
Yes. Remember your phrasing!
Keep an 👁 on the sky for 🌪 !
A black hole?
GOOD job!
@@ashleelarsen5002 🎶 Black hole 🌞 , won't you come ! 🎶
I would've never guessed tornado. 😕
