One of the many amazing things about the show was that it never took itself seriously. Friends, Rosanne, and many other sitcoms incorporated serious topics, Seinfeld never once did. It was consistently funny until the end.
I agree, with the exception of the series finale. I don't think that I am alone in the thinking that it was not as funny as it could have been. I felt shortchanged by the way they hastily tied the plot together.
That's insightfully true. I have to go back to the 60s to think of other sitcoms that were 100% irreverent: Get Smart, Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan's Island - no maudlin bits in those sitcoms. The difference with Seinfeld is it managed to maintain the irreverence within a believable, or at least relatable, premise - more or less real people with real problems taken to irreverent extremes. Most sitcoms of that ilk inevitably throw in heart-tugging relationships and situations at various points, but Seinfeld never did. 100 % relatable + 100% irreverent = groundbreaking sitcom.
This was two years prior to his on stage racist meltdown at an LA comedy club trying to perform a show and then he got a heckled and took it short and got really mad and said a really bad word
"You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on? You haven't even been to see the doctor. If you're gonna put a balm on, let a doctor put a balm on."

From the thumbnail I thought it was going to be a cast reunion via Zoom where they had to answer Seinfeld trivia questions. I was disappointed, especially since the answers were so easy.
These were way too easy, here are some harder ones: 1. This episode references Bazooka Joe. 2. He was the writer who stunk up the airplane bathroom before Elaine could use it. 3. The mannequin was wearing this $1,200 dress. 4. This was the name of Jerry and George's gym teacher. 5. This was the movie our fearsome foursome were trying to see at the Paragon. All from the golden years (seasons 3-6).
Smh some idiots just can't let people grow. He screwed up and publically admitted he was wrong. But the press and the idiots of the world try to make that his legacy
I knew someone was gonna bring it up. You can tell by Michael Richards face they had a long conversation trying to convince him to even do this one line. His entire life has became centered around that one moment I'm sure. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Meh, not the best apology. He only apologized on camera after the video was released. He never apologized to the people he said those things to and he made excuses saying he was just trying to defuse heckling and that he's not racist. It's the classic "I'm sorry, but..." on-camera apology. Yeah, he's sorry that it was recorded and that there were consequences. 👌
It's interesting to note that the contestants ran the category on Seinfeld, yet, another group of Jeopardy contestants, had no idea who Adam Schiff was when shown a picture of him. I don't know it that means anything, but the thought made me chuckle.
I have no idea how a guy who said the N-word multiple times can still have an acting career. Some racist say it is because he is Jewish but honestly, I just want to know how this man is still allowed on TV.
Not to condone his atrocious tirade, but he was actually reverting to a Lenny Bruce "that word" bit due to being in a panic from bombing throughout his set. It was desperate and pathetic and he deserved every bit of backlash he received, but he also recognises that, and I think repentance should stand for something. Just my opinion.
Trev Moran I saw the clip, he repeatedly called the audience member the n-word multiple times over and over again. By bringing up the totally bullshit explanation he gave, you are in fact condoning his atrocious “tirade”
This episode is the only one that includes Jeopardy and revolves around George's useless head of lettuce brain that can't function because it's preoccupied with sex.
"During a performance on November 17, 2006 this ex-funny guy threw his career away and made you always think twice before laughing at his jokes in Seinfeld" ... who is Michael Richards? BING BING BING
This is Ken Jennings’ 75th and final game. Originally aired on November 2004; Season 21 on this show.
What is Jeopardy
RIP 4 Ken

Same, I thought it was some epic Zoom call they’d all done.
I mean Julia is just timeless
Welp, time to binge watch all the seasons again. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
No, no, of course not! People's personal viewing preferences are nobody's business but their own! 😁

Seinfeld helped kill Ken Jennings
That's a shame.
I'd always hoped he'd appear in a bit on Curb and spar with Larry over that

Yes, I swept the category.

One of the many amazing things about the show was that it never took itself seriously. Friends, Rosanne, and many other sitcoms incorporated serious topics, Seinfeld never once did. It was consistently funny until the end.
I think they had a motto, something like "no lessons, no hugging," specifically to prevent it from growing a big head like that
'No hugging, no learning' - hell, I can get on board with a show that''s written based on that principle, hate it when sitcoms get sappy :o
I agree, with the exception of the series finale. I don't think that I am alone in the thinking that it was not as funny as it could have been. I felt shortchanged by the way they hastily tied the plot together.
Yeah the finale was a bit disappointing, though I guess it's hard to wrap up a show like that when it IS so defiantly unsentimental.
That's insightfully true. I have to go back to the 60s to think of other sitcoms that were 100% irreverent: Get Smart, Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan's Island - no maudlin bits in those sitcoms. Kramer: "I am out" 1:06😂😂😂😂
“I’M OUT!!” 😂
they should do an All-Seinfeld Jeopardy, categories like 'Newman', 'Kramer' 'Frank' etc. I could win big bucks if I could get on that show..
This was two years prior to his on stage racist meltdown at an LA comedy club trying to perform a show and then he got a heckled and took it short and got really mad and said a really bad word
Trebek sounded so disappointed when he said "okay, back to Jerry."
Ahem, that was "ALRIGHT, back to Jerry."
I'm proud to say I ran the category!
God two amazing shows linked together. I love it.
I LOVE Kramer!!!
