This princess is a bit miserable!

After her mother's death, Rilla's (Lily James) father marries the beautiful Mrs. Termani (Cate Blanchett Cate Blanchett), who brings with her two daughters, Anthea (Holliday Grainger) and Triceria (Sophie McShera McShera). Rilla coexists peacefully with her stepmother and two sisters in the spirit of kindness to others, however, this all changes drastically when her father dies.
　　Without her father's protection, Rilla is reduced to a slave and a housemaid to Mrs. Termani, but even though she is oppressed and humiliated by her relatives, Rilla still decides to stay and protect the family. By chance, Rilla meets a man named Kit (Richard Madden), but she doesn't realize that this charming young man is a prince and thinks he's just a servant. The prince organizes a large banquet at the palace and invites all the maidens of the country to attend.
