Saw him on Taskmaster, and he's probably the funniest comedian I've seen in ages - great sense of surreal humour, 4th wall breaks and dark comedy. Love it
Dude i fucking lost it when he asked Greg if he was a child of divorce
Same!!! Just been scanning YT for any content of his
In my opinion this is some of Sam's best work:
ruclips.net/video/j60pKvNLQNc/видео.htmlsi=SKz9rqpaATHgXHdT
same i wanted to see more of his stuff. i hope he wins taskmaster
discovering him reminds me a lot of when i discovered james acaster, just a total breath of fresh comic air, and totally fearless
I have no clue why this comment section is so negative. The set is killer, particularly the hypnotist part. It’s insane to see so much hate for something so subjective
Sarcasm and comedy in general is unfortunately lost on some folks
He's probably a bit of a divisive one, I love him but I could see his style not being for everyone
But if it's subjective wouldn't people be more likely to hate?
You honestly thought that set was hilarious? Really?
@@fitzfitzchivalry4538 no, I thought it was funny, some bits v funny.
This is guy is an actual genius. So orginal. On another level
Fucking hilarious seeing some of these takes from people unfamiliar with Sam. Dude's been on the circuit for several years already, and won the top prize at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022. His comedy is definitely niche but he's doing just fine. Every misinformed comment assuming he's some guy off the street gives me so much life. Keep being you Sam, ya champion.
Thank you for saying exactly what I was thinking except I was semi triggered. If these other people commenting are fans of russel howard it kind of makes sense though.
The best way I can describe him to people is an Australian James Acaster but even that isn't very helpful.
We gotta remember who was also maligned by viewers who just wanted vanilla, down-the-center comedy:
- Norm MacDonald
- Bill Hicks
- Billy Connolly
there's, like... google. Wikipedia. People should use them more! :)
Gives you "life"? Is this another modern trend where a word now means something else completely and only the hip and the young know what it means (but probably don't know the original, real meaning)now? For fuxayche. So what exactly does it mean in the context of your comment please, Mr "Alert"? Please explain.
I only just discovered Sam Campbell through taskmaster and he is hilarious 😂
Whilst I appreciate he may not be everyone’s cup of tea - he may be someone’s shot of whiskey, so why people are being shitty about him is beyond me 🤷♀️
I love Sam. He’s more than happy to do what he wants to do and not just pander to an audience and I think he’s brilliant 🤷🏻♀️
Got to see the new season of task master live and id never heard of sam Campbell until then, now i cant get enough of him! He was great on task master!
He is an absolute madman. I love it
POV: You can’t find the “uninformed” and “negative” comments everyone is talking about
Look further down, there is loads
Looks like Taskmaster has changed the tone of his viewers
POV: you put POV: in front of everything because you saw a meme with it but you don't really understand how it works
Probably one of the best taskmaster contestants. That cobalt non story was the funniest deadpan ad-lib I've ever seen
"Everybody got a story"
my favourite part about this is that Howard is still giving a platform to new, young and fresh comics
it’s worth remembering that not everybody whom appeared on Good News Extra has gone on to have a career or a successful career in comedy, out of the hundreds whom took the Good News Extra stage are household names, and it’s because they were undoubtedly funny straight outta the gate, notably were James Acaster, Nick Helm, Reggie Watts, Ed Gamble, and Doc Brown - there are many more but these were the stand out names off of the top of my head
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Hes autistic and won the award for best show at the Edinburgh comedy festival last year and has been big in australia the last few years
I loved Jared Christmas but haven’t seen him much since
Made me laugh. Loaded with dark Australian sarcasm and surrealism. But I like odd stuff. The loudness didn't bother me - he's creating a larger than life character. A lot of dislike in this thread. People hated so many comics that have since become legends. People hated alternative comedy back in the day.
Just seen him on the recent Would I Lie To You? and he was hilarious, sooooo funny, really quirky style! Loved it, had to come watch more. 😅
This guy is my favorite up and comer he’s got unique talent and it’s great my exact brand of humor
Well played and great set-up for the hypnotic to appear. Loved it 🎉🎉
I love how many people hate Sam. I watch a lot of comedy and he's one of my favourites.
i think about the whole part about being beaten up by a big bloke daily, not a single day passes without one "i want a big bloke to squish me" coming up in my brain
Sam is hilarious his grand. I like that his got his own style of comedy and not like most younger and newer comedians that feel almost the same
This guy sold out a 750 seat venue at the fringe last year for a *10 minute set*! 10 minutes! It takes more than 10 minutes to get the audience in or out of that venue, one of the biggest at the festival. That is how funny he is, naysayers. I missed out, he is brilliant!
I think this is one of the comics who you must follow for a while to appreciate where he's coming from and the journey he is on, like Norm MacDonald, Chris Farley, Andy Kaufman and Robin Williams. Yes, Sam can be in that club.
C'mon, don't be daft. He's quite funny, but nowhere near those guys. I think he could be as big as James Acaster, thats way more realistic.
Mark appears from literally nowhere and always brings a chuckle
I know i've seen mark on another show but my brain wont tell me where!!!
@@diagnoseddifferent7637Uncle Shady?
I've just realised it's Joe Lycett's Got your back!
Joe Lycetts Got Your Back, uncle shady in Man Like Mobeen and Mandy on bbc2, Rovers on sky are the main four, but he does cameo's in loads of stuff.
He’s got a strange sort of Carlin-esque rhythm and cadence to his delivery
Every time I thought I’d gotten to the unexpected turn, it veered off in another direction
This man is unhinged and I love it
These comments are depressing, this guys stuff is amazing
Start reminded me of Dave O'Neil, he would start by saying i'm angry! haha love Sam, such a unique character!
Lot of truth in what he's saying in a dark way.
dude is great.
The Hedburg is strong with this one. I like
😂 Sam Campbell is good ... but he was definitely overshadowed by Chad Michael Steel!
Sam was probably a really fun dude to go to high school with. . . probably not so much for the teachers.
Speaking as an ex-teacher, it's easier just to join in and laugh.
@@lobstermash
I've had too many teachers melt down over the class clown's foolery. The few who did like you mention saved themselves a ton of stress.
Loved him in Taskmaster amazing season
This was funny. Some of you people with your different opinions... you're entitled to them, but you're wrong.
Now I have spoken I will vanish into the dark until I'm needed once more.
The way he slips in and out of sexual fantasies is absolutely hilarious 😂 he’s so absurd, sometimes it’s random, sometimes it’s the exact opposite of what you’d expect, sometimes he brings Mark Silcox onstage as an alien hypnotist 😂
I 2as not expecting mark silcox that was amazing
There is some real Greg Universe action in that big bloke bit...
i love this style of comedy!!
Sam is the comedy equivalent of people who listened to so much music that they can only enjoy obscure Sumatran jazz fusion bands.
Don't know if you meant it as a neutral observation or something negative, but spot on for me 😅 Cambo's the best!
stewart lee would be proud
Who even likes that pop shit anyways? I do actually. And I also love sam campbell. How does that factor in to your theory?
You’re Sumatran me crazy!
Sam Campbell is the Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, of comedians
That opening is me watching Team USA basketball
Underdog and hypnotist bits were fun (edit, and the disguise bit! lol).
@@rachelbarnwell6548 What an odd comment. I wasn't trying to tear it down, I was listing the bits I thought were funny and made me laugh!
I'm inferring that your response is from a defending the comedian standpoint, which if it is, like I said, I liked those bits!
But if it's instead trying to tear them down because you think the bits I listed weren't funny instead, might I suggest you find better things to do than to try and tear down other people's sense of humour?
(Assuming said humour isn't creating danger for minorities or groups of people or the planet that is)
If you like the overdog my dude, could I interest you in supporting my best friend in the whole world, Eggerson Keaveney? He even looks kinda like you!
He has a point about the under dogs tho 🤣
Mark silcox is hilarious
in no sense of irony, i agree with him - the underdog
Need a Sam Campbell Eric Andre collab
Both Sam Campbell and Chad Michael Steele were lovely.
Also, I feel weird saying this but watching his mouth and listening to him, he could do a perfect Trump impersonation guaranteed.
he has trump mouth
@@kawaiilotus 😂 100%
I prefer to see it as Michael Keaton mouth 😂
Is he a child of divorce?
Are you?
@@szeverenyiorsolya3506You didn’t see what he did there.
@@mattcorcoran7082 Did I?
@@szeverenyiorsolya3506 Yes
🤣
Recently got into this guy through watching him on videos of WILTY. I think he's funny, I like weird awkward comedy. Whoever commented that he's a bit like James Acaster was spot on.
it won't surprise you at all to know the two are friends
Mark Silcox from Joe lycetts got your back!!!
Chad Michael Steel. He’ll save us all one day.
I agree with him on the big bloke part xD
Some good some not so good but comedy is a learning curve to perfect it 😆👍👍
thought they were all pretty good tbh😂
Him wanting Goliath to squish him changed my perspective of the entire first minute. "Ohhh this is all a sex thing, okay"
what's the hypnotist's actual name/are they publicly known? seen'em in a bunch of sam's sketches, dude kills it every time
Mark Silcox
@@louloumjryan1991 awesome, thank you!
@@bradseeker No bother, he’s been on ‘Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back’ on Channel 4 if you can find any eps/clips of that, well worth it.
Wait, the hypnotist guy is the same actor who plays Mobeen's uncle.
I’m here for Green Day’s new song ‘ I’m Sick Of The Underdogs ’.
This guy is the next Bob Mortimer im telling all yous now.
these comments are insane
He is an underdog, how ironic
I like this allot !!!!
Lool he reminds me of James Acaster
Apparently they are friends
This guys quality 🤣🤣🤣
When they're laughing at you....not with you
I like him.
Sam’s got it, alright
Wtf is my dad doing in a red cape on stage!?
That was funnier than the whole set!
There is something strange going on in that head of his, and it's brilliant to watch
Chaps got some good jokes
I like him :)
only take criticism from those you respect!
Funny stuff! and definitely unexpected lmao
There are so many unfunny comedians out there. Sam's absurd sense of humor is such a breath of fresh air
who is that hypnotist I've seen him before?
And you'll never see him again! He's gone back to his own planet and it's private! So keep out (or off)!
Did Russel steal that guy from Joe lycett
he is from joe lycetts consumer show, but hes actually hired for quite a few things now, hes hilarious
Can’t wait for taskmaster!
Dalek: [Scratches new cocktail on blackboard:] Sam Campbell's! £priceless$
Missy: in that case, round for the crew x
As far as stand up goes....he did remain upright for his whole set...
And literally murdered everyone in Britain.
EGGERSON KEAVENEY?
Well done Chad Michael Steel
I wish Andy Kauffman was around to see this kid.
Sam Campbell would have easily won jerma's 'Who Will Replace Me'. shame he wasn't allowed to enter.
I think he shows a lot of promise.
Yep, it wasn't just for taskmaster, Sam is actually exactly as weird as he came across.
I might be accidentally racist, was the hypnotist also the guy Who portrayed sir Edward Hebert in that one video of the series “Unfinished London”?
LMAO 😆
sampbell
I like Sam but why is there a laughter track on the video? It's not Scooby Doo.
Where do Russell’s guests come from anyway? Do they apply or does he get them anywhere?
Sam literally won the top prize at fringe... He's a famous comic
Birtish comedy > American comedy > Halloween Ends (2022)
Damn right
Wrong age for this group, parts were very funny 😇
Hughsie x James Acaster
😂😂😂
For as hard as the audience laughed, they sure as hell weren't moving all that much. Good on him for trying, and he probably has his crowd, but that was kinds shocking.
They didn't actually laugh at all. I was there and it was really awkward. They must've added the laughter afterwards
Uncle Shady?
He let me see his planet. Just sayin'.
Yup, not what I expected.
Its like he’s disconnected from what he’s saying. He’s actions do not match his words 😂
Sam is superior
Joe lycetts wondering where his helper is
Have to go back to my planet
That was honestly terrible
I was there when they recorded, the laughs are fake
Okay, Boomer.
@@missoula2213 what’s that mean sorry? I’m not down with the kids
I thought he was crap to.
@@drdjsparxx Basically it's meant to be seen as an insult towards those of the generation "Baby Boomer". I think it's like those who're 60+ by now. Even though its not really an insult. I know I'm a day late, but hope this helps!
Edit: I also agree with the stand-up here being terrible, I understood nothing of what was happening...
