If you are using bromine you shouldn’t use chlorine shock correct? If you do how do you correct it?

In the beginning of this video you alluded to age of spa factoring into how to balance & maintain your spa. If so, how does age affect this process. I have an older spa (2004) and keeping chemicals in balance has been a challenge. Thank you.

A well-made hot tub should last you between 15-20 years. You could need to replace some of the older parts, like the control panel - or it could be something more complicated. It's like having an older car: you may need to invest in larger repairs or you may want to consider buying something newer.

So.........getting a 6 person Rotospa delivered this week........assuming this routine is the same for a "portable" tub as it is for a larger acrylic unit?!
I live in Canada so is draining and cleaning it in the fall before the freeze hits and then again in the early spring ideal? Don't want to risk it in the dead of winter

Help.. I have just bought a house with a Hot Tub and I have no idea what to do or where to even get started. The hot tub hasn't been used in a couple of months, since the house was vacant while while the sale was pending.. I'm thinking I should drain all the water out, replace the filter and refill the hot tub to start out with.. I'll go out and buy the test kit and the chemicals recommended here.. Can I just go into a pool store and buy a kit that has all the things I need?

@@tallchick1966 - i went to a local pool & spa see store and talked to someone. Basically, i emptied the hot tub, washed the surface as best we could, cleaned the water filter and refilled the tub. Then added Bromine/Chlorine shock. Turn the system on and waited til it came up to temp. Then waited a few hours and tested with the ph test strips... (Dunk them into the water about 6 inched below the surface for a few seconds and pull out). Then compared the test strip to the color chart and added chemicals to get it correct.

When draining the tub will the chemicals in the water kill grass or other plants

    • @Sientz
      @Sientz Год назад +1

Depends on the chemicals and the concentration!
Most tap water has chlorine and Fluoride but it doesn't kill grass.... If you add a ton of chlorine to your hot tub then drain it into your grass then yeah it might
Tap water is typically 2 PPM so if you're in that range you should be safe

Hi, my hot tub has a water filtration system (paper filters) along with an ozonator.
Do i still need ph balancer, bromine, shock, etc ? Also, is it okay to use aromatherapy?

      You always need bromine/chlorine.
Water balance and filtration are most important

How is this schedule affected by salt water? I've got a salt water tub and the chlorine level is monitored by the system, I am unsure if if it necessary for the other elements.. also, are the scum sucking tennis balls reusable with cleaning?

When shocking your hot tub do you use chlorine shock when using bromine to maintain. I guess what I’m asking can you mix chlorine with bromine…. I understand how to maintain a pool but just recently got a hot tub.

    • @nicoles7126

I was wondering the same thing. I listened to a podcast by this creator and he emphasized that you CANNOT mix chlorine and bromine. But then it seems like the shock is chlorine and most people use bromine to maintain... So... Can they mix? I'd love the video creator to answer this.

Yes you absolutely can use a chlorinated Shock with a Bromine sanitizer. If you look at Spa Guard Enhanced Shock(which is a chlorinated Shock) it states right on the directions it can be used with either chlorine or Bromine sanitizers
