This is one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen anywhere, let alone just on RUclips - clear and easy to follow. We were able to complete the job step-by-step without issue. For those attempting this, I will note that in removing the spring, the plastic tab that the spring is hooked onto is likely to break off. This created a momentary panic for us, but we soon realized that the replacement spring attaches to the dishwasher differently by sliding into a slot, so the tab is not needed. We tried being extremely careful on the second side (both of our cables had broken) as we twisted the spring off, but the existing plastic tab still broke. Not to worry - the new design spring doesn't utilize it, so props to the engineers who came up with the replacement.
Often, if the string breaks while the door is opened, the spring will have contracted and will break the plastic tab, so many users will find that on the broken side, the spring is already detached from the plastic anchor point. By the way, the part kit is 00754866
@@sfhondapilot This is exactly what I found on mine. When I opened it up, the plastic tabs on both springs were already broken. The switch to metal tabs on the replacement springs make them much sturdier!
Best video I have seen on how to replace the Bosch dishwasher door spring replacement. His video had clear pictures and precise instructions. Only addition to this video I can suggest for future is to show how to lower the the front legs to pull out the dishwasher. I would still give this video 5 stars. Excellent video.
One day I found one of these cords laying on the ground and had no idea where it went… A few weeks later the other one was laying on the ground and the door had no tension. Never occurred to me that these ran along the side of the dishwasher…. Was able to fix it in 10 minutes after watching this. Thank you! Fyi I was not able to find this part on your website but they were on Amazon for 20 bucks. And shame on Bosch for using cheap nylon cords and easily breakable plastic connectors. a severe design flaw just so they could save a dollar on each dishwasher
same here, been living with this broken door now for 2 months and we just HATE it. Can even see the broken cable on the floor and it is now so clear how to fix this.
Great video and instructions. The previous commenter mentioned the plastic tab where the old spring is hooked into will break, but that is OK as the new spring fits into different nearby slots. Definitely a momentary panic situation.
THANK YOU so much for this how-to video! It took us no time to replace the part in our dishwasher! Your instructions were absolutely perfect. We are NOT DIY people but you walked us through it flawlessly. Again, thank you so much! My shins thank you as well! lol
I have a suggestion to make it easier to install the cable on to the arm on the door of the dishwasher. The video has you install the spring first then thread the cable and use a needle-nose plier to pull the cable up onto the arm. I am a 68 year old female and struggled because I was not strong enough. Then it occurred to me that perhaps I could do it backwards. I put the clip on the door arm, threaded the cable through the guides, and then inserted the spring. Because I had more leverage on the spring it required far-less strengths. I recommend you revise the video to do it that way. I love your videos. They are clear and easy to follow.
Super helpful video! I really appreciate how clear and concise it was. Now I have confidence to repair my door spring myself vs needing to hire someone to help.
Bought the spring from you guys and the install went without a hitch. First time ever fixing a dishwasher. I have very little experience with appliances and this video gave me confidence to do the job myself. Came out great. Many thanks.
Thank you for posting! I actually started to pull out the washer before rewatching the video (last time was a couple of months ago), I forgot to detach the water lines. Fortunately I had enough slack to pull it out just enough for the repair. Right side cable was missing; now that I think about it, I found it several months ago, but didn’t know what it went to. Lol, now I do! Replaced both cables, breaking the old tab anchoring the right spring, but as the other poster mentioned, the new springs don’t use that tab.
Just watched this video and used it as a guide to fix my siemens dishwasher. absolutely spot on. gave me the confidence to take the job on myself and saved me a service call of nearly £100. Thanks!
Great video. I ordered the repair parts (which arrived quickly from ApplicancePartsPlus) and was able to follow the steps to make the repair without any issues (and I am not a super handy person).
Easy-Peesy, Japan-esy. or I should say, German-esy. I changed the Cable & Spring kit on my Bosch dishwasher door in just a little more than 10 minutes. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful!
This video was excellent and gave you all the info you need to complete this repair. Almost had an issue as my dishwasher is wired to a junction box under my sink cabinet, but thank goodness I had enough wire length that I didn't have to completely unwire the dishwasher. I did unhook my hoses first, but turned out that wasn't even necessary. You might want to check and see if you have enough length to do the repair without unhooking everything.
this was a beautiful guide. we ordered the parts and following step by step, completed the job in 20 minutes. spent as much time cleaning the cabinet, which needed it anyway! so we got an additional bonus. thank you
Excellent video. Very easy DIY job for the homeowner. I used this video and was done in less than an hours. Part was less than $20.00. Repairman want $79.0 just for the service call...plus parts and labor$$.
For my Bosch SHX3AR55UC/10, it was much easier to attached the plastic cable end mount to the hinge first and then stretch the hinge and insert it into the slot towards the back of the dishwasher base. I tried the method shown in the video, but the pulley system is designed differently, and I couldn't position the plastic cable end to get it on the door hinge while under tension. However, this is a great video demo of the general procedure. Thanks.
Great video! Already ordered the parts from ApplianceParts Pros along with the cable guides which were not a lot more $. This vid has given me the info and technique to tackle this with confidence. Would recomend putting cardboard or other protective surface before sliding unit out.
This video was great, it’s a bit unfortunate the original design had a flaw that over time the plastic would break. Hopefully this new design lasts longer.
I have Thermador DWHD440MFP/02 dishwasher. On your website I was trying to find the part number for Door Spring and Cable kit but was not able to find it. Please advise.
Nothing holds my door up, even slightly. Should I buy one for each side ($40 each)? Is each side different? I'd rather not decommission the dishwasher while waiting for parts, but if I must, how will I visually recognize & identify the broken or defective part?
Great! Thank you. I was surprised that my thermador sapphire dw door springs failed after 2 years! Shockingly absolutely horrible design. And the thermador has a metal casing around it. They should come up with a more stable design for the cabinet front door models.
Note. If the rear spring holding point looks different than most of these videos. It could be that the backward force when it broke has broken the plastic, had me scratching my head for a while 😅
much of this is unnecessary ~ I collected all the tools he recommended but I only used a screw driver and a rubber mallet to do the replacement. I didn't completely remove the unit; mine had enough slack in the hoses and wiring to allow me to just pull it 3/4 of the way out of the cabinet to access the springs. I spent much more time watching instructional videos than actual the job itself (< 30min).
Absolutely the best video on how to replace springs Straigtforward with no trash talk and it clearly shows eveything you need to know
Glad we could help out!

Exact same thing happened to me. My thoughts immediately went to "And ... we need a new dishwasher". 😆

Finally a video that is clear and concise enough to give me the confidence to do it myself. Parts are ordered.
I watched if after ordering the parts. This was the perfect video and I installed the spring with no issues.

I watched a few other videos and none of them were as clear and concise as this one.

Thank you!!! 67 yr old lady fixed my dishwasher by myself! I did have side panels to take off but got the job done.

Easy to follow step by step video. With no prior experience I was able to do it myself and now have a working dishwasher door so thank you.
Clear instructions.....others just talk but you show how to do!!!! Thx for your help to save repair costs$$$$
Amazing video! Knocked out the repair in less than 30 minutes
Perfectly and simply demonstrated. It helped that my dishwasher and the replacement parts were exactly the same as in the demonstration. Thank you!
Thank you! Your video made process as straight forward as it should be. Everything a user needs and nothing you don’t!!!
Excellent video! Concise, to the point, and complete.

Great video. Was able to replace both springs quickly following their example. Piece of cake.
Thanks! "How the heck do I get that plastic string end onto the spring?!" Answered awesomely.
Such a great help! Got the parts from manufacture as a courtesy and was able to dave myself from paying for a service call! Thank you so much!
Super easy to follow. My dishwasher door is now working properly. Thank you!
Excellent instructional video! Everything you need to know and nothing extra that you dont. Well done!
Thanks so much for clear and detailed directions. Helped out a lot!
This video (and parts) worked perfectly for my 7yr old Bosch. Excellent job!
Excellent video! Clear and concise.
Great tip about the hammer, forgot about that. Thanks!

Fantastic, really clear. Mine wasn't identical to this, but close enough, helped enormously. Greetings from the UK, thanks again!
Great video! I was able to order all the right parts and fix it myself all thanks to this video. Great job!
Fixed mine thanks to you. Great video
you guys rock. this was clear and worked for me a novice. although it took me a long time
Completed the repair in about 30 minutes, start to finish.
Easy peasy, thanks for the clear and professional video.
Thank you! Perfect instructions, so helpful. $13 repair on my own!
One of the best videos. Thank you so much.

Great DIY repair video made it a super easy job. Anyone can do this one.
Thank you you made it look easy
Excellent instruction. Only recommendation is to shorten it up by eliminating extra discussion.
Thanks, great video and great help!
Great, clear video. Many thanks!
Thank you I can now get it fixed
I have Thermador DWHD440MFP/02 dishwasher. On your website I was trying to find the part number for Door Spring and Cable kit but was not able to find it. Please advise.

What is Springs colour code? Black, red, pink vs...
my dishwasher has side panels so seems it's going to be more involved
Note. If the rear spring holding point looks different than most of these videos. It could be that the backward force when it broke has broken the plastic, had me scratching my head for a while 😅
Is this correct part for Thermador DWHD440MFP/02 dishwasher -Door Spring and Cable Kit 00754866 / AP5804978 ?
Thanks. :)
Darn video worked.
Hello Plis Traducction Spanis ........
I bought the repair kit from them and they sent the springs without the cords. Of course, it’s the cord that is broken.
I'm sorry, Larry. Can you please provide me with your order number so that I can look into this for you?
