To be fair though Bananas has not motivation to beat the women. He isn't competing with them and with there being no benefit to coming second in the men's 1 minute behind rather than 30mins behind all that he really needs to focus on is coming second in the men's while using as little energy as possible so if it ends up that Jordan has gone so hard that he hits a wall he can take advantage of it. He is simply playing smarter rather than feeling he has to beat the women for macho reasons

Totally agree that the karma vote shouldn't dictate who wins. If should've been revealed at the beginning and had some penalties or advantages of picking who goes first, etc.
My takeaways: 1. Jordan might be in for one of the best single season performances in Challenge history 2. Tori's early struggles are understandable 3. Derek has really been a dark horse this season 4. If she keep this up (even with the karma points), Michele might take this over Jenny
I think Michelle will take first, then Rachel and Jenny. With Tori not placing. This will happen if and only if Michelle wins another check point and Tori and Rachel both need to win one as well. I feel if Jenny wins most of the checkpoint karma or not it wouldn’t be fair if she didn’t take first. That’s what I think will happen!!
Yes, Jordan’s final performance is impressive but he never had any eliminations before the finals. He steamrolled to the finals. I would’ve been more impressed with Kyland, Derek, or even Bananas that had to fight to get to the finals.

Why are people acting like Jordan has never won a final on land? This man has won ‘finals’ on land. One of which he did with one hand and one leg. To be good at the challenge you have to be well rounded because you never know what the final can bring. So people saying the final is rigged is crazy. If he wasn’t doing well at the other tasks in the final, he wouldn’t be placing first, no matter how good of a swimmer he is. He wouldn’t be coming last but he wouldn’t be placing first if he was choking on the walks, runs and puzzles.

If there was ever a final that Cara could maybe be ok with missing out on, it'd probably be this one. Made me less disappointed not to see her when I saw how much swimming was involved.

This final was made for Jordan, he absolutely killed this first portion. Derek impressed me with his penalty and catch up to everybody so quickly at the first checkpoint and Michelle is a very strong swimmer so I knew she would perform well. I was impressed with Jenny especially knowing she has asthma and is said the not have the best endurance, she killed it in the first portion.
@ lol you’re right, I just know that he’s a really strong swimmer so I was really just talking about that, his swimming was impressive. But yea Jordan is an all rounder for sure, I honestly can’t believe that he didn’t see an elimination

I feel Derek actually screwed himself in that first leg, he needed to make up some time but he seemed to go too hard and that seemed to have an impact in legs 2 and 3. With the way the whole thing works, you only need to finish a second ahead of your rivals, finishing way more than that is waste of energy. So when he wasn't going to get so far ahead of Jordan going into the swim back that he could stay ahead all he really needed to do was ensure he managed his buffer ahead of Banana's but he opened a buffer that was excessive and wasted energy. He basically ran that first leg like the final is time based not position on each leg and then seemed unable to put the kind of run in on the steps that he was able to put in on leg 1
@@nickferguson1998 Even though he is an all rounder the amount of swimming which is an area he is really strong on and Kayland is so weak on is giving him a massive advantage. It's just not really that balanced, Jordan might be winning it even without the long swims but really the final should have been testing everyone's strengths and their weakness, not making it so reliant on one single skill that that alone gives Jordan such a lead that the rest of the leg is nullified and in Kaylands case thatit doesn't matter how well he does in the other parts of the leg, he will come last no matter what. For example there are other ways they could get to shore rather than swimming, we see a Kayak in the preview for next week which if that is used to get to and from the ship will be an improvement but we could have had that sooner. And there is no reason they couldn't be dropped off on the beach on a leg. Even with the women we see Tori who for most of the season has been killing it struggling largely due to the swimming while Michelle is doing way better than she has shown all season because she is a good swimmer (Admittedly the lower humidity seems to be helping some of them, Michelle's puzzle ability went out of the window in Vietnam but she seems to be thinking clearer in the lower humidity and we saw Jenny constantly struggle to breath due to her Asthma which the lower humidity will be helping so maybe Tori simply handles humidity better rather than being as dominant as it seemed)
I really like this final, seems old school, tough, over night, endurance and athleticism matters. I really really hate karma points, it better only affect like 10% of the winner.
I know most people hate them, but the truth is that Bananas, Tori and Michele carried this season on their own... Also Rachel, but she is not as hated as the others.
I feel like the Karma points should’ve been some sort of a penalty during the final. Now whoever reaches the finish line first, instead of being excited that they just won, they have to wait in suspense to hear who actually won based off karma votes
I think the smartest strategy for the coins is try to do a certain number every half an hour just to not lose count. I'd probably aim for 200 to make it as easy as possible.
That is a good strategy much better than mine I was thinking i would just count the first time and just try keep the same pace and not count and just multiply it by how many rds. I really don’t think anybody is going to be really close
I believe the overnight portions are meant to mentally break them. They go from living luxurious then it gets taken away at the end to see how well they adjust and test their resilience. Brutal if you ask me 😅
Bananas and Kyland complaining about the swimming portion and it being taylor made for Jordan is dumb. Jordan is a well rounded player. He can run, swim, do puzzles, eating challenges and more. Kyland is a good player and so is Bananas but they have their weaknesses. Not Jordan's fault he is good at almost everything.
IMHO their complaints do hold some merit, there is so much swimming in every single leg that it's completely destroyed Kylands game and its giving Jordan such an advantage that it's basically nullifying every other part of the leg. A well constructed final should be one that doesn't allow one skill to dominate each leg, atleast that way Jordan would need to show his all round strength. Atleast in the next part it looks like a leg ha sthem travelling by Kayak which is an improvement, although for all we know that's part of the leg and it still has a long initial swim and then a swim back
The trauma bonding during this final is insane considering some of these people have been arguing the whole season and yet it feels like everyone is hyping each other up

I’m not surprised about Michelle doing well in a swimming challenge, I am more surprised of how bad Rachael did in this swimming portion, I hope the guys show up in day 2 and let Jordan know he’s not the only one competing here and for Kyland to be such a big fan knowing swimming is his weakness and the possibility of swimming being part of the challenge probably should have worked on his swimming like Cory.
Jenny not swimming since her last challenge is crazy especially considering her instagram every 3rd picture she’s in a bikini (I just made that bit up I don’t have instagram she did have a bikini on a lot of the time this season)
I love how intense and how long this final is. Remindes me of WoW 1. I am shocked that I want Tori or Michelle to win. I thought I would be rooting for Rachel, but then I was reminded what a mean girl she used to be and still can be and I don't want her to win. Even though I think she's a badass.
My issues with Michelle is that she’s very whiny and entitled. My issue with Tori is that she steamrolls in almost every season she’s in. Jenny is a little quirky or annoying but she has proven to be the best female contestant ever. And yes, Rachel is still a mean girl.
I have a change of heart about Michelle with this final, I was one of the people considering her a lay up like she stated in her confessional and would have rathered cara there initially but she's killing it and holding her own admirably. I also think cara would be like Kyland and just holding down the back with all the swimming so it's nice jenny isn't just walking away easy with each win like Jordan but has some competition. That being said I hope the rest of the final is more land based to give others a chance to catch back up
Yeah, Michelle isn't a favorite by any means but I think you always need an underdog or two because it makes the Challenge the Challenge. I miss the days of Devyn where personality mattered.

Unfortunately I have to agree. I hate to hear her voice and have always hated how she (and Jay!) have tried to use their Survivor tactics in The Challenge. They even did the stupid post-Tribal Council talks to the people the screwed over & lied to. Ironically when she stops doing that, she does better in the game.
This seems to be the one of hardest finals in Challenge history. All that swimming would take me out. I like that they did a water final. It's new but it couldn't be me. Another thing I understand more is why Jordan was so mad at Anessa in Ride and Dies. She was holding him back a lot doing the final. He is crashing this final.
I undestand why karma points seemed like a good idea in theory but I would prefer to not see that again. It's enough that entire game is partly a popularity contest so I don't want to see the final turn into popularity contest as well
I feel like it works for this season though because there was a range of voting. I feel like in any other season this wouldn't work but for this one it kinda does due to the eras concept.
I agree with most of you about Kyland, I was really rooting for him. It’s so disheartening to see him be so bad at swimming BUT if you think about it, he’s not been as great as expected on puzzles this season either. Im still hoping he can at least place but not beat Jordan who essentially pulled a CT by laying low throughout the season then killing it in the final!
After seeing the final, the treading water elimination was appropriate. The better swimmer went on to the final. I love Cara but her and Kyland would have been buddies struggling in the water through this whole thing. The female side of the final is very competitive and I like that.
Jenny is SO me. This final has been meh… swim, puzzle, swim. Karma points are terrible. This is not Friendship Island, it’s a competition. If you befriend people who suck or was in an era that sucked ass, you’ll win on points. This makes me think Rachel wins since Tory and Michele share the same friends and will have to share points. I hope I’m wrong because last average place day 1 to winning on the power of friendship is ABSURD.
Whats even worse about them is they come into play at the end. Atleast if they revealed them at the start everyone would have an idea on their handicap and then be able to strategies around this. They currently have no idea of how they actually did in the vote or the impact it has so they don't really know if they need to push 10% more. It would be like at the Olympics a women in the heptathalon not knowing how anyone else did in the first 6 events so not knowing what they need to do in comparison to their rivals in the final 800 metre run. What makes this event (and decathlon) interesting is that you have some who know they need to gain a certain gap over someone else to win and that other person knowing they need to stay within a certain gap so it makes the final event a tactical game of cat and mouse, if they just had to run with no data it wouldn't be as interesting and that seems to be what Karma points not having their purpose and the outcome known from the start is doing here, its ruining an element of tactical play that if they have to have karma points would atleast make it more enjoyable

this is the reason i keep on watching the challenge. Even though it gets more brutal, its always different each season. Im for including the karma points because like anywhere its how you treat others.
I don't know about anyone else... but when they were signing that song. I first heard that song as a 8 year old watching "Jaws" at night down in the OBX. Next day trying to get in water and a little freaked out.
Once again I'll say the karma points should have come into play the challenge before the final. I get where production is coming from with the friends thing, but friendship and alliances only get you to the finals. They can't win the finals for you. The challenge before the final should have had the winners go straight into the final and then have another competition for the rest to earn their spot in the final where the karma can positively or negatives affect your chances.
The karma points in my opinion was a bad twist because let say someone does good in a final then the karma points affects that person because they weren’t nice to people that could screw people who are doing good at finals
I think for S40, MTV should not have cheaped out. 400k is a lot of money, but we couldn't raise that prize a bit for first place for such a historic season?
Good episode. First, Jordan is definitely gonna win at this point (unless he starts losing the checkpoints on day 2), and Jenny & Michelle surprised a lot of people. Additionally, Tori just did a 2-hour elimination vs Cara; so I think her endurance is definitely impacted, but hopefully she can recover and perform better for day 2. Second, Kyland's weakness has been exposed (can't swim well), but if he can get second place or better in the checkpoints for day 2; the karma points might help him out. The overnight checkpoint is gonna drive the competitors crazy (especially Jenny); but I think Kyland or Bananas might be able to win it. Overall, good part 1 of the final. Jordan & Jenny are cruising, but I don't think Jenny will be able to maintain her lead due to the mental stack and the karma points. Bananas is smart in conserving his energy- plus the fact that the checkpoints aren't timed helps with his strategy. Kyland needs to step it up or else mathematically, he won't win any money. Finally, the karma points is a Big Brother concept (which is fine), but it shouldn't be weighted too heavily. On a side note, it would've been great to see Wes compete in this final.
I think many of these reality shows rely on social or popularity in the process of crowning a winner. So I guess that’s why they’re adding in the karma votes. But yeah, it’s going to encourage less drama in future seasons because players will be afraid to make waves if they’re going to lose points in a final.
In example, Bananas was very entertaining this season. But his antics will bite him in the butt with those bad karma votes, and it will force him to make nice in future episodes.
I really wanted Rachel to win but she is doing terrible at the finals so I feel Michelle can win because she is a underdog and she has been to many eliminations
I will start off by saying I'm still loving the footage of the Philippines for this final. The swimming would kill me too so I feel Kyland. I ROFL'd when Bananas commented on him looking like a can of tuna in the water. Jordan is just too good at these challenges, even though I be rooting for Derek. For the girlies I am rooting for Rachel, but I have to give Michele her dues with how well she's doing (surprisingly). Jenny is beasting the final so far, but I feel like she might quit next episode (based on the previews and how she was mentally doing by the night)?? Kyland pissing on the sign made me think of him differently... I thought he could have expressed in other ways how he was feeling about the final. Someone has to clear that sign with his peepee after the final :(

My free viewing channel here in Montreal stopped making the show available since jan 1st 2025, literally at the final 😑... About the final: Hate this use of karma points. Am 100% rooting for Michele. For guys, I was team Kyland, but now am forced to give mad props to Jordan and root for him for dominating that much! And its kind of other people's fault for letting him get there 🤷
The thing is though people aren't all the same and some people deal with things different and respond to different to certain things. Look at something like Tennis, there are players who having a rant at the umpire or their support team helps them deal with situations and find that extra level they need while others if they did that have a negative reaction and perform worse. This could be how Jenny finds helps here deal with situations and find that extra level she needs. It could also be a tactic, if you annoy others and make them react to you then you are potentially disrupting them and as long as its not disrupting you more that's a perfectly fine tactic
Mtv Production keeps dropping the ball, karma points shouldn't call the game they needed to be a purge point after the over night. I feel like they dont really understand how to set the game which is why season after season keeps flopping.
When I found out how this final was going to play out I’m not surprised at all that Jordan is killing it and for the men it’s been pretty much what I expected. The woman, however I did not expect Jenny or Michelle to be doing as well as they are and Rachel to be doing as bad as she is, and I also think that it wasn’t fair for Tori and I’m not even a huge Tori fan but for her to have to do an elimination treading water for three hours only hours before starting a pretty hard final I think it’s pretty messed up. I think they should have had the final guys and girls elimination together before the location change.
I dont like the karma points directly affect the winner. They should have been applied at the challenge before the final to determine who ran the final. This isnt BB or Survivor.

I will NEVER forgive MTV Canada / CTV for locking the episodes and then transferring the ownership to a paid subscription tv provider ONE DAY before the final. I was LIVID. Needless to say I won't pay so that means I can no longer watch the show. Worst part is that according to rumors, all-star 5 would have been watchable in Canada (the other all-stars aren't).

I love the token idea because it gives us what we want a running scoreboard, I'm afraid the karma vote is a way production can manipulate the final outcome. Hope they give out tokens for karma vote to start the next morning and not wait until the very end
The song they were singing, "Show me the way to go home" was from the iconic scene in the movie Jaws in which the three star actors were singing on the Orca during a night of drinking. Funny they had them singing it, at least was nice it rang that bell. Jenny yeah shouldn't be surprised but that's the tired talking. To me the karma vote started out being nice but honestly, I feel an elimination should sort out differences. Especially for poor Corey who just missed out on the final. He knew by how TJ was describing what was coming up after his loss to Derek that he just missed the final, very little solace a karma vote would do for him. This is why its annoying to watch players like Jordan and especially Bananas coast to another final. No one, NO ONE takes a shot at them before the final. Yes Bananas had a couple of eliminations but the people he faced never had a shot of beating him. And for this cast never to send Jordan down was pretty bad. He had been taken down by Horacio on a recent season, the only place you'd have a shot at him is an elimination, now it seems too late. It is disappointing to see Kyland struggle, I hope he's able to turn it around but it just really seems like Jordan or Bananas will win now barring a major mistake. I'd rather see Jordan win, he's nowhere near the douche Bananas is. But yeah, I was disappointed in this season not having more of the best of the best from the 40 seasons cast to begin with, and the play this season has again been timid with not a lot of shot taking.
100% I want finals to be about ability ONLY When you give more weight to the social game, you change the challenge and it becomes Big Brother (🙄) or Villainous (which Wes lost due to the revenge "friend" votes).
Maybe the karma points will be added as an additional checkpoint score for each player? In order of where they came in the karma vote. But if it’s literally the number of points they got in total added on then that’s harsh.
This is my take on how the karma votes should have been handled and you can disagree with me: I think these karma votes would be a lot better if the points could subtract their overall times in the final. Like, if someone gives you 5 points, that’s 5 minutes take off your overall time. If someone gives you 1 point, that’s one minute taking off.
Can someone pls tell me what Jordan's swim routine cause I know triathlons involve a lot of swimming, but the man straight up looked like a merman. I do hope that there are some land segments next week to give some variety but man the final being mainly water is so cool. Reminds me of The Hunger Games II haha.
I was so mad Cara didn’t make the Final, but I bet she glad now! She hates swimming. I don’t think anyone expected the final to consist of so much water. That’s new. I don’t like it. I think it’s super duper dangerous how much they are making them swim without being able to properly rest and eat. I’m a swimmer and water polo player- i can be in water for hourssss- but not ocean water, that’s wayyyy different. I really hope they are on land or the boat for the rest of the finals. I’m also sad to see kyland being a stinker due to his lack of strong swimming. He had such a great season just to go out like this, oof.

Totally agree that the karma vote shouldn't dictate who wins. If should've been revealed at the beginning and had some penalties or advantages of picking who goes first, etc.
My takeaways:
1. Jordan might be in for one of the best single season performances in Challenge history
2. Tori's early struggles are understandable
3. Derek has really been a dark horse this season
4. If she keep this up (even with the karma points), Michele might take this over Jenny

I think Michelle will take first, then Rachel and Jenny. With Tori not placing. This will happen if and only if Michelle wins another check point and Tori and Rachel both need to win one as well. I feel if Jenny wins most of the checkpoint karma or not it wouldn’t be fair if she didn’t take first. That’s what I think will happen!!
Yes, Jordan’s final performance is impressive but he never had any eliminations before the finals. He steamrolled to the finals. I would’ve been more impressed with Kyland, Derek, or even Bananas that had to fight to get to the finals.

Why are people acting like Jordan has never won a final on land? This man has won ‘finals’ on land. One of which he did with one hand and one leg. To be good at the challenge you have to be well rounded because you never know what the final can bring. So people saying the final is rigged is crazy. If he wasn’t doing well at the other tasks in the final, he wouldn’t be placing first, no matter how good of a swimmer he is. He wouldn’t be coming last but he wouldn’t be placing first if he was choking on the walks, runs and puzzles.

This final was made for Jordan, he absolutely killed this first portion. Derek impressed me with his penalty and catch up to everybody so quickly at the first checkpoint and Michelle is a very strong swimmer so I knew she would perform well. I was impressed with Jenny especially knowing she has asthma and is said the not have the best endurance, she killed it in the first portion.
I really don’t get the whole “this final was made for Jordan” 😂 Jordan is good at everything, he’s made for every final is more accurate

I feel Derek actually screwed himself in that first leg, he needed to make up some time but he seemed to go too hard and that seemed to have an impact in legs 2 and 3. With the way the whole thing works, you only need to finish a second ahead of your rivals, finishing way more than that is waste of energy. So when he wasn't going to get so far ahead of Jordan going into the swim back that he could stay ahead all he really needed to do was ensure he managed his buffer ahead of Banana's but he opened a buffer that was excessive and wasted energy. He basically ran that first leg like the final is time based not position on each leg and then seemed unable to put the kind of run in on the steps that he was able to put in on leg 1
@@nickferguson1998 Even though he is an all rounder the amount of swimming which is an area he is really strong on and Kayland is so weak on is giving him a massive advantage. It's just not really that balanced, Jordan might be winning it even without the long swims but really the final should have been testing everyone's strengths and their weakness, not making it so reliant on one single skill that that alone gives Jordan such a lead that the rest of the leg is nullified and in Kaylands case thatit doesn't matter how well he does in the other parts of the leg, he will come last no matter what. For example there are other ways they could get to shore rather than swimming, we see a Kayak in the preview for next week which if that is used to get to and from the ship will be an improvement but we could have had that sooner. And there is no reason they couldn't be dropped off on the beach on a leg. Even with the women we see Tori who for most of the season has been killing it struggling largely due to the swimming while Michelle is doing way better than she has shown all season because she is a good swimmer (Admittedly the lower humidity seems to be helping some of them, Michelle's puzzle ability went out of the window in Vietnam but she seems to be thinking clearer in the lower humidity and we saw Jenny constantly struggle to breath due to her Asthma which the lower humidity will be helping so maybe Tori simply handles humidity better rather than being as dominant as it seemed)
I really like this final, seems old school, tough, over night, endurance and athleticism matters.
I really really hate karma points, it better only affect like 10% of the winner.
Maybe the karma points should take money away from the reward pot but not winning points from the players that earned their rankings.
I know most people hate them, but the truth is that Bananas, Tori and Michele carried this season on their own... Also Rachel, but she is not as hated as the others.
I feel like the Karma points should’ve been some sort of a penalty during the final. Now whoever reaches the finish line first, instead of being excited that they just won, they have to wait in suspense to hear who actually won based off karma votes
I think the smartest strategy for the coins is try to do a certain number every half an hour just to not lose count. I'd probably aim for 200 to make it as easy as possible.
That is a good strategy much better than mine I was thinking i would just count the first time and just try keep the same pace and not count and just multiply it by how many rds. I really don’t think anybody is going to be really close

Bananas and Kyland complaining about the swimming portion and it being taylor made for Jordan is dumb. Jordan is a well rounded player. He can run, swim, do puzzles, eating challenges and more. Kyland is a good player and so is Bananas but they have their weaknesses. Not Jordan's fault he is good at almost everything.
Proper losers mentality. I don't recall Bananas complaining he got an elimination tailor made for him against Theo.
IMHO their complaints do hold some merit, there is so much swimming in every single leg that it's completely destroyed Kylands game and its giving Jordan such an advantage that it's basically nullifying every other part of the leg. A well constructed final should be one that doesn't allow one skill to dominate each leg, atleast that way Jordan would need to show his all round strength. Atleast in the next part it looks like a leg ha sthem travelling by Kayak which is an improvement, although for all we know that's part of the leg and it still has a long initial swim and then a swim back

I’m not surprised about Michelle doing well in a swimming challenge, I am more surprised of how bad Rachael did in this swimming portion, I hope the guys show up in day 2 and let Jordan know he’s not the only one competing here and for Kyland to be such a big fan knowing swimming is his weakness and the possibility of swimming being part of the challenge probably should have worked on his swimming like Cory.
Jenny not swimming since her last challenge is crazy especially considering her instagram every 3rd picture she’s in a bikini (I just made that bit up I don’t have instagram she did have a bikini on a lot of the time this season)
I love how intense and how long this final is. Remindes me of WoW 1. I am shocked that I want Tori or Michelle to win. I thought I would be rooting for Rachel, but then I was reminded what a mean girl she used to be and still can be and I don't want her to win. Even though I think she's a badass.
My issues with Michelle is that she’s very whiny and entitled. My issue with Tori is that she steamrolls in almost every season she’s in. Jenny is a little quirky or annoying but she has proven to be the best female contestant ever. And yes, Rachel is still a mean girl.

I have a change of heart about Michelle with this final, I was one of the people considering her a lay up like she stated in her confessional and would have rathered cara there initially but she's killing it and holding her own admirably. I also think cara would be like Kyland and just holding down the back with all the swimming so it's nice jenny isn't just walking away easy with each win like Jordan but has some competition.
That being said I hope the rest of the final is more land based to give others a chance to catch back up
Yeah, Michelle isn't a favorite by any means but I think you always need an underdog or two because it makes the Challenge the Challenge. I miss the days of Devyn where personality mattered.

Unfortunately I have to agree. I hate to hear her voice and have always hated how she (and Jay!) have tried to use their Survivor tactics in The Challenge. They even did the stupid post-Tribal Council talks to the people the screwed over & lied to. Ironically when she stops doing that, she does better in the game.

This seems to be the one of hardest finals in Challenge history. All that swimming would take me out. I like that they did a water final. It's new but it couldn't be me. Another thing I understand more is why Jordan was so mad at Anessa in Ride and Dies. She was holding him back a lot doing the final. He is crashing this final.

I feel like it works for this season though because there was a range of voting. I feel like in any other season this wouldn't work but for this one it kinda does due to the eras concept.
I agree with most of you about Kyland, I was really rooting for him. It’s so disheartening to see him be so bad at swimming BUT if you think about it, he’s not been as great as expected on puzzles this season either. Im still hoping he can at least place but not beat Jordan who essentially pulled a CT by laying low throughout the season then killing it in the final!

After seeing the final, the treading water elimination was appropriate. The better swimmer went on to the final. I love Cara but her and Kyland would have been buddies struggling in the water through this whole thing.
The female side of the final is very competitive and I like that.
Jenny is SO me. This final has been meh… swim, puzzle, swim.
Karma points are terrible. This is not Friendship Island, it’s a competition. If you befriend people who suck or was in an era that sucked ass, you’ll win on points.
This makes me think Rachel wins since Tory and Michele share the same friends and will have to share points. I hope I’m wrong because last average place day 1 to winning on the power of friendship is ABSURD.
Whats even worse about them is they come into play at the end. Atleast if they revealed them at the start everyone would have an idea on their handicap and then be able to strategies around this. They currently have no idea of how they actually did in the vote or the impact it has so they don't really know if they need to push 10% more. It would be like at the Olympics a women in the heptathalon not knowing how anyone else did in the first 6 events so not knowing what they need to do in comparison to their rivals in the final 800 metre run. What makes this event (and decathlon) interesting is that you have some who know they need to gain a certain gap over someone else to win and that other person knowing they need to stay within a certain gap so it makes the final event a tactical game of cat and mouse, if they just had to run with no data it wouldn't be as interesting and that seems to be what Karma points not having their purpose and the outcome known from the start is doing here, its ruining an element of tactical play that if they have to have karma points would atleast make it more enjoyable
The only thing with the karma points for me watching Bananas worried about it, is giving me way more joy than it probably should.

Once again I'll say the karma points should have come into play the challenge before the final.
I get where production is coming from with the friends thing, but friendship and alliances only get you to the finals. They can't win the finals for you.
The challenge before the final should have had the winners go straight into the final and then have another competition for the rest to earn their spot in the final where the karma can positively or negatives affect your chances.
The karma points in my opinion was a bad twist because let say someone does good in a final then the karma points affects that person because they weren’t nice to people that could screw people who are doing good at finals
Exactly what happened on all star 4.. I don't know who came up with this idea and thought it was a good twist.. but they must be fired !
I think for S40, MTV should not have cheaped out. 400k is a lot of money, but we couldn't raise that prize a bit for first place for such a historic season?
You have to keep in mind that this season was really expensive on appearance fees. Veteran players make more per episode than newer players.

Good episode. First, Jordan is definitely gonna win at this point (unless he starts losing the checkpoints on day 2), and Jenny & Michelle surprised a lot of people. Additionally, Tori just did a 2-hour elimination vs Cara; so I think her endurance is definitely impacted, but hopefully she can recover and perform better for day 2. Second, Kyland's weakness has been exposed (can't swim well), but if he can get second place or better in the checkpoints for day 2; the karma points might help him out. The overnight checkpoint is gonna drive the competitors crazy (especially Jenny); but I think Kyland or Bananas might be able to win it.
Overall, good part 1 of the final. Jordan & Jenny are cruising, but I don't think Jenny will be able to maintain her lead due to the mental stack and the karma points. Bananas is smart in conserving his energy- plus the fact that the checkpoints aren't timed helps with his strategy. Kyland needs to step it up or else mathematically, he won't win any money. Finally, the karma points is a Big Brother concept (which is fine), but it shouldn't be weighted too heavily. On a side note, it would've been great to see Wes compete in this final.
I think many of these reality shows rely on social or popularity in the process of crowning a winner. So I guess that’s why they’re adding in the karma votes. But yeah, it’s going to encourage less drama in future seasons because players will be afraid to make waves if they’re going to lose points in a final.
In example, Bananas was very entertaining this season. But his antics will bite him in the butt with those bad karma votes, and it will force him to make nice in future episodes.
I really wanted Rachel to win but she is doing terrible at the finals so I feel Michelle can win because she is a underdog and she has been to many eliminations
I will start off by saying I'm still loving the footage of the Philippines for this final. The swimming would kill me too so I feel Kyland. I ROFL'd when Bananas commented on him looking like a can of tuna in the water. Jordan is just too good at these challenges, even though I be rooting for Derek. For the girlies I am rooting for Rachel, but I have to give Michele her dues with how well she's doing (surprisingly). Jenny is beasting the final so far, but I feel like she might quit next episode (based on the previews and how she was mentally doing by the night)?? Kyland pissing on the sign made me think of him differently... I thought he could have expressed in other ways how he was feeling about the final. Someone has to clear that sign with his peepee after the final :(

The thing is though people aren't all the same and some people deal with things different and respond to different to certain things. Look at something like Tennis, there are players who having a rant at the umpire or their support team helps them deal with situations and find that extra level they need while others if they did that have a negative reaction and perform worse. This could be how Jenny finds helps here deal with situations and find that extra level she needs. It could also be a tactic, if you annoy others and make them react to you then you are potentially disrupting them and as long as its not disrupting you more that's a perfectly fine tactic

When I found out how this final was going to play out I’m not surprised at all that Jordan is killing it and for the men it’s been pretty much what I expected. The woman, however I did not expect Jenny or Michelle to be doing as well as they are and Rachel to be doing as bad as she is, and I also think that it wasn’t fair for Tori and I’m not even a huge Tori fan but for her to have to do an elimination treading water for three hours only hours before starting a pretty hard final I think it’s pretty messed up. I think they should have had the final guys and girls elimination together before the location change.
I dont like the karma points directly affect the winner. They should have been applied at the challenge before the final to determine who ran the final. This isnt BB or Survivor.

I will NEVER forgive MTV Canada / CTV for locking the episodes and then transferring the ownership to a paid subscription tv provider ONE DAY before the final. I was LIVID. Needless to say I won't pay so that means I can no longer watch the show. Worst part is that according to rumors, all-star 5 would have been watchable in Canada (the other all-stars aren't).

The song they were singing, "Show me the way to go home" was from the iconic scene in the movie Jaws in which the three star actors were singing on the Orca during a night of drinking. Funny they had them singing it, at least was nice it rang that bell. Jenny yeah shouldn't be surprised but that's the tired talking. To me the karma vote started out being nice but honestly, I feel an elimination should sort out differences. Especially for poor Corey who just missed out on the final. He knew by how TJ was describing what was coming up after his loss to Derek that he just missed the final, very little solace a karma vote would do for him. This is why its annoying to watch players like Jordan and especially Bananas coast to another final. No one, NO ONE takes a shot at them before the final. Yes Bananas had a couple of eliminations but the people he faced never had a shot of beating him. And for this cast never to send Jordan down was pretty bad. He had been taken down by Horacio on a recent season, the only place you'd have a shot at him is an elimination, now it seems too late. It is disappointing to see Kyland struggle, I hope he's able to turn it around but it just really seems like Jordan or Bananas will win now barring a major mistake. I'd rather see Jordan win, he's nowhere near the douche Bananas is. But yeah, I was disappointed in this season not having more of the best of the best from the 40 seasons cast to begin with, and the play this season has again been timid with not a lot of shot taking.

I think these karma votes would be a lot better if the points could subtract their overall times in the final. Like, if someone gives you 5 points, that’s 5 minutes take off your overall time. If someone gives you 1 point, that’s one minute taking off.

I do hope that there are some land segments next week to give some variety but man the final being mainly water is so cool. Reminds me of The Hunger Games II haha.
I was so mad Cara didn’t make the Final, but I bet she glad now! She hates swimming. I don’t think anyone expected the final to consist of so much water. That’s new. I don’t like it. I think it’s just another way to favor certain people, like Jordan, “coughing “!😂
I have to agree that the karma points sound like they are going to be a popularity contest. But TJ warned everyone about how they treat everyone, SO……. I am actually excited to see how it ends. Actually praising Michelle, I think it’s time she gets a win! Derek too! Have to love the underdog!
Karma points addition at the end better be only a fraction as important as checkpoint points.

I think it’s super duper dangerous how much they are making them swim without being able to properly rest and eat. I’m a swimmer and water polo player- i can be in water for hourssss- but not ocean water, that’s wayyyy different. I really hope they are on land or the boat for the rest of the finals. I’m also sad to see kyland being a stinker due to his lack of strong swimming. He had such a great season just to go out like this, oof.
If Jordan keeps this up I’m pretty sure he’s winning I also don’t think he got a lot of bad karma points considering he plays a straight up game
