Nice review. I just picked up a JBL Cinema SB51 on Black Friday. It's a 3.1 Ch soundbar with built-in subwoofer but unfortunately I am not happy with it. It sounds pretty good with musics but, not sure if it is my untrained ears, the soundstage sounds narrow and it's not giving me any surround experience for movies watching. Would you happen to know this soundbar? I am considering returning it and looking at the VIZIO M-Series All-in-One 2.1 and the Yamaha SR-B30A... but it looks like this Denon DHT-S218 is also another option. Any suggestions/comments?
I'm about to buy the Denon DHT-S217 or the Denon DHT-S316 with the Subwoofer. Is it possible to connect the wireless subwoofer of the DHT-S316 with the Denon DHT-S217 Soundbar?
for a short period of time i've had the samsung hw-q800d and for music listening was shity but for movies was decent enough. in this price range do you know a more musical soundbar?
Bought this about 9 months ago thought it was a decent soundbar for 180 quid , decent for film and TV but didn't think it was great for music , so have it to my brother and got the 700c
New TV i see! Knowing you've had the 2018 Q9FN for a couple of years, how is the upgrade to the QN95B? I myself own the Q9FN and in struggling to find something that i believe would out perform the Q9FN. The QN95C/QN95D are incredibly expensive... I have a very bright room so i would need a tv with great brightness and glare reduction
Haha yes, finally! Honestly it's a nice upgrade, it's much brighter if required, HDR is better and the processing of the apps is far superior (less problematic than the previous model). However, I don't feel like it's a huge difference in picture quality and it does seem to be affected by glare a bit more - at least when I first transitioned it didn't feel like a night and day difference, if that makes sense?
@TotallydubbedHD totally does! Thanks for the response! Did you buy it second hand or did you find it cheap in store considering its a few years old? Im really hoping for a price reduction on the QN95C/D this black friday! My Q9FN have started switching on/off by itself the last couple of weeks... Did you ever experience that problem?
@davidgodal98 I've never had that issue of switching on and off, but that sounds HDMI CEC related, something might be triggering it? As for purchasing, well I was lucky enough that Samsung gave me the TV as an upgrade (they also gave me the original Q9FN) and in return I use it for testing (useful as I now have native Atmos support and eARC, and can test the new Samsung features like Q Symphony etc) and thus quote it in all my soundbar reviews :)
@@TotallydubbedHD nice! Yeah i was also thinking it might be CEC related but Ive turned it on and off and changed hdmi cable but it still happens from time to time unfortunately. Yeah nice to be able to play Atmos directly from the tv apps and use Q Symphony 👌 oh and btw will we see a Sonos Arc ultra review in the future?
@@davidgodal98 odd, definitely haven't had that problem! Unlikely to see any Sonos reviews on here, as their PR sucks - looks like they're more interested in paid-for videos or positive coverage only lol.
I just bought the Hisense u8k which arrives in a week. I was wondering would this improve the sound? The u8k has 2.1.2Ch 50W Output Dolby Atmos speakers. Would I need to spend more to notice the difference?
Buy the Denon DHT-S218 from Amazon: locally.link/macC

Not really, would suggest checking the description and watching the video for my suggestions.

No idea, best asking Denon!

That Samsung is a great bar, can't recommend anything better at its price point. No idea why you think it was bad.

Thanks for sharing, and nice choice!

Not tried that TV, but as per the review it won't be a massive upgrade.
I bought the Denon DHT-s517. Which one would you say is better the s218 or the s517?
The 517
