Thank you!!! Holy crap, every other youtube wants to take 20 minutes to explain how to go back and forth and completely missing this issue! Thank you for making a concise and straightforward guide!
Thank you so much. In my case, I had to close both photoshop and lightroom then all the versions I made while I was wondering why it didnt show up in lightroom showed up. What a trip. And you were right, 15 minutes to describe this is crazy and most of them did not describe the problem you just resolved. A follower forever.
Thanks, I tried it and it worked for me. I also found that if I saved the file with Ctrl-s, waited for it to finish saving then closed the file in photoshop -this also worked with the benefit of not having to close photoshop everytime.
I’ve been having the exact problem you’re describing, and I did what you instructed and still had no success recovering my edited Photoshop tiff file. I have no clue where the files are even saving too because once I close Photoshop, I lose the file.. Any other advice?????
Thanks a lot, man! I've been editing this way for years and out of no where I keep getting this screen to save under a different format after command+s but now just closing works fine. Appreciated man!
THIS WAS FREAKING PERFECT!!!! SHORT AND SWEET! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED! IT WORKED FOR ME!! I think its cause since you are opening a window/extencion just to edit that one photo from lightroom its probably programed to not send the tif file back to lightroom untill you close out of photoshop letting lightroom know that you are actually done with the editing of the photo.
Thanks man, this worked!!! This single reason alone was causing me to use Photoshop less than I ought to. This was indeed a live saver. This might have been the video I needed to inspire me to become a professional photographer. Thanks again for sharing!
First time user of photoshop but long time user of lightroom. Did a sky replacement. I wanted pic back in lightroom this worked great. THANKS! EDIT:::: Learned all I have to do is hit save and it automatically went to light room.
Wow. This is the first video I've found addressing this exact issue. I've lost hours, and hours of work retouching portraits that I've brought in via Lightroom, that are so unreliable whether they show up (with the adjustments) in LR or not. About 50% they do, but the other 50% all the changes are lost. I have tried loads of things, but not simply closing PS straight after the save. I'll be trying that immediately. I'm also on a 2020 M1 Mac Book Pro (as some of the other comments suggest this too). I did the round tripping for years, between LrC and PS, but I'm becoming so sick of LR now (and performance can be so, so sluggish) that I'm considering moving back to LrC. Anyway, thanks for your tip. Maybe it will be a serious time saver for me.
Wow. You saved me a lot as in a lot time. By the way, I am using Macbook Air 2020 M1 and the edited photo in Photoshop appears in LR almost instantaneously. Thank you once again.
I am using also this Macbook and I don't know why but photoshop always asks me to save the file on the computer and not back to the lightroom. You haven’t come across this?
Hey fella a good "direct and to the point" video. Although I have been working with Adobe Photoshop for 27 years, I know practically nothing about Lightroom. In the years I used Photoshop, I counted in Adobe Bridge as the first step toward processing photos. (Does Adobe even offer "Bridge" anymore??). Okay, my question: How does one get one's pictures into Lightroom in the first place? This has never been explained in any tutorials that I know of. Is the procedure just like Adobe Bridge? Would appreciate your advice. * Btw- It would be helpful if you would say which version of Photoshop (and Lightroom) you are working with.
im trying to make presets on lightroom and followed a guide i found. So first I edited it in photoshop to adjust size and format to jpg ( not sure why but i'm just going along with it lol, i prefer png), then i saved the image by exporting it for web file. Now when I try to open it in lightroom, I cannot import it. It shows up in my library, but I can't actually OPEN IT. Grrr.
Mine works perfectly when I save on my laptop, yet when I use my iMac I have this problem... I'm not sure why but even this isn't working for me, and I've also combed through all of the settings in both Lightroom and Photoshop. Not sure if there is another fix for this?
Anyone familiar with bringing multiple photos from Lightroom to Photoshop?...All I have seen is to press control to select the photos and right click edit in photoshop...the problem is it only takes the one photo as a background layer??
Thanks for being straight forward. Didn’t want to spend 15-20 minutes watching other videos and hence came directly to this one. Good job!
Glad I could help!
That’s why exactly I choose you over others. Why they take 20-30 mins to explain this simple trick. Thanks dude. Really appreciate it. Keep it up!
Thank you!!! Holy crap, every other youtube wants to take 20 minutes to explain how to go back and forth and completely missing this issue! Thank you for making a concise and straightforward guide!
Well done, I thought the exact same thing looking at the other 13-15 min videos. Super helpful!
Unbelievable isn’t it?! 15 minutes is such a waste of time and is simply disrespectful to the audience

Adobe needs to fix this! It's frustrating when editing multiple photos though.
You are the a life saver. Thank you for the straight to the point explanation!

Same here ☹️
I'm doing it right now, just closing the file but not the program (Ps) and it also works. Thanks
Thanks a lot, man! I've been editing this way for years and out of no where I keep getting this screen to save under a different format after command+s but now just closing works fine. Appreciated man!
This made it very clear, I just had to save and close the file, not Photoshop itself. Thanks for this.
Awesome, finally quick video with solution without useless info for 10 mins. Thank you!
My photo is not going to photoshop from lightroom
Had to comment as this is the first video I came across that's actually helpful on this, and not long for not reason! Lifesaver, thank you :)

I'm here in 2022 and this is blowing my mind... I didn't know why it happened some times and not others... but this still works for me!
Thanks man, this worked!!! This single reason alone was causing me to use Photoshop less than I ought to. This was indeed a live saver. This might have been the video I needed to inspire me to become a professional photographer. Thanks again for sharing!

Hi! Did you manage it?
As of today's version you don't need to close Photoshop. When you close the edited file in Photoshop it appears back in Lightroom. checked on Mac.
who couldve thought of such an "easy" fix of just closing the programm. Anyone knows why that issues (still 2 years later) occurs?
Genius💚
Nice video. How do I transfer my photos from PS or LR to my cellphone or to share with others?
When I go to file > Edit in photo shot. My option is greyed out and wont work.
My photoshop doesn’t have the transfer button on the top right hand corner pls help
Thanks man
I can't even save edits in photoshop says because invalid file name any tips on that can't find anything on it
I have been getting “error” when exporting back to photoshop
Thanks John
Anyone familiar with bringing multiple photos from Lightroom to Photoshop?...All I have seen is to press control to select the photos and right click edit in photoshop...the problem is it only takes the one photo as a background layer??
is there anyway to get it from PS back to LR but in RAW?
im new to this so I do not know if it is even compatible.
Imported photos from Lightroom open up zoomed in (on Photoshop), I can't see the whole picture as before (and as your example) . Any suggestions?
I dont see the actions in the Store anymore :(
Exactly, I just clicked off a 15min video of repetition and confusion. Thank you for understanding😩👌🏾
thank you! is the .tiff file the same as a raw image file?
Thank you!
When I go to “File” there is no “Edit in Photoshop “ to click on
Thank you so much, it is very helpful! Do you also know how to do this with multiple pictures?
You should be able to hold shift and click on all the pictures you want to select
tNKS, Man. You saved me^^
Hey man if you can help me, when I click open in photoshop it only opens in camera raw and doesnt allow me to edit it in photoshop.
Thanks
How do you link PS to LR
None of that works for me. I can’t even transfer the file the photo.
Thanks!
No problem!
yup all these long videos are driving me crazy.
THANK YOU.
Ofc!
I'm still having this issue. Doesn't matter what I do. Such a pain in the ass.
