The Yamaha RX100 was the go-to bike for two-wheeler enthusiasts back in the 80’s and early-90s. Back then, the Yamaha RX100 not only set a benchmark for two-stroke motorcycles but also single-handedly changed people’s perspective towards motorcycling.
The Yamaha RX100 was launched in November 1985 and the company kept manufacturing it until March 1996. The government’s decision to pull the plug on all two-stroke motorcycles ended of the Yamaha RX100's reign in India. But the success story carries on even today
The RX100 was the result of Yamaha going back to the drawing room after the RD350 failed to light up the market. But even Yamaha couldn’t have anticipated the outcome of their radical approach, making the Yamaha RX100 the legend it is today. The best example of this is that enthusiasts are still willing to handover hefty amounts of money in order to own a well-maintained example of the RX100.
The Yamaha RX100 was powered by an air-cooled, 98cc, single-cylinder, two-stroke motor that produced 11PS @ 7500rpm. Power was sent to the rear wheel via a 4-speed gearbox. The company also claimed a 0-60kmph time of 7.5 seconds. Furthermore, the Yamaha RX100 was not only reliable but affordable as well, making it accessible to many. The performance and reliability factor made it a winner in the eyes of enthusiasts. In fact, the Yamaha RX100 became one of India’s best-selling two-stroke machines, until it was replaced with the RX-G.
The part that makes us spring with joy are the rumours of Yamaha reviving the RX100, but with a four-stroke engine instead. However, our excitement levels have dimmed down as there has been no official confirmation from Yamaha as of yet. So, till we get a solid confirmation on its comeback, we can only wait and anticipate that the RX100 will once again revolutionise the Indian two-wheeler commuter segment. If u plan to have a secondary bike other than the Rx, then buying an Rx is worth it. But having just 1 bike Rx is not worth it because parts r hard to get and yamaha have reduced making parts for Rx so u will end up using parts made by local companies.

I don't agree with you bro. RX is my one and only bike which I've been using from almost 8 years and it never disappointed me. As far as the requirement of part goes you can get most of the parts but you should be able to distinguish between original and fake parts.

unfortunately it is not a 175cc bike, it has a tuned engine which means it is more than 135cc but not 175cc

Also if any one is wondering, there is no knocking sound from the engine. Upon inspection, it was found that the sound was from the vibration of the keychain :)

Hey bro ......rx135 cannot be bored to be 175cc .....I had ported the engine and for 175cc it cannot be done....we have specific formula for deducing cubic capacity of bike and that is( pi/4)*bore*bore*stroke*no of cylinder.....I bet it cannot be 175 cc.

@@SpeedyLio see there are two concept porting and boring...u might of heard of these.
Porting mean increase inlet and outlet port .....with this u can get 40% inc in power ( consider bhp)
Boring - Max 3mm boring can be done and with each bore consider 3cc inc so max 9 cc but no use as u get negligible torque inc and due to boring head walls will get thin and u cannot drive distance as it will get heated up.So 175cc no chance......
