    Just a little something, mates! That moment about 5:20 in the video, in the scene with Khadgar and the other magi, they're in the Chamber of Air. It's *not* in the sky, it's just an illusionary room made to conceal the location of the Council of Six. Read up the book Tides of Darkness (for Khadgar) and Day of the Dragon (for Rhonin) to see more about the Chamber of Air!

    • @Nobbel87
      @Nobbel87  9 лет назад +16

      +Breno Rodrigues (Elphoenix) True, very possible yet missing the detail where they hide their identity. Didn't reveal themselves until Khadgar was an old man, but that could just be to make it easier for the movie.

    • @breno1196

      +Nobbel87 Holy damn I got answered by Nobbel.
      But indeed, they did conceal themselves in shadows (or something like that, my memory is crappy). Although not having them do that might allow us to see people like Antonidas and Krasus, which would be awesome!

    • @pie2413
      @pie2413 9 лет назад +2

      +Nobbel87 I mean their figures are revealed, but their faces (minus the glowing eyes) seem to still be in shadow, so that could be the movie's solution to Khadgar talking to an empty room. Or they could, like you said, just be cutting that part out entirely, making it so just access to the Chamber is selective enough that knowing the Six's identities isn't that important in relation to an audience with them.
      Regardless, I pray we get to see Kel'thuzad. Duncan Jones keeps talking about plans for a trilogy, so he would be a fool not to set up such a crucial player in Arthas' storyline.

      +Nobbel87 If they are merging parts of Rise of the horde, The last guardian, and Tides of darkness on this movie, i can see them revealing themselves to Kadghar during the mid-late stages of the movie.
      I wouldnt take that shot as prove that Dalaran is floating by that moment, but it is obvious is going to go up in the sky at some point in the movie.

      +Alyssa Lynn Spleas They've said that this isn't going to line up point-for-point with traditional Warcraft lore. Metzen likened it to Marvel's changing up of the storylines for the movies but the characters and key points are still the same. The lore will still take the same path, but minor details (where Garona betrays Lothar, the color of certain Orcs, how Thrall was abandoned, etc.) will be changed in the name of creating a more cinematic experience.

    • @pie2413
      @pie2413 9 лет назад

      +Nobbel87 I've got a question about the Doomplate (or whatever Orgrim's armor is named).
      In the games, Orgrim wore the almost regal looking black and gold plate armor that Thrall wears now, but in the movie, we've only seen him in more tribal plate with one spaulder. Now, with the reveal of what Blackhand looks like, it appears that he has the familiar shoulders - albeit with dragon looking heads strapped to the sides.
      Anyways, my question is where did the pieces of the Doomplate come from? I haven't been able to find a clear answer anywhere, and it appears that Orgrim always had that armor from what I've found. Could it be that they're purposely making it so that when Orgrim takes up the mantle of Warchief that he *literally* "takes up the mantle" and wears Blackhand's spaulders?

      That would have made an awful movie. The orcs would have zero good guy characters and it would end with the humans (and only humans, no Alliance yet) losing everything. The chances of a sequel are super small so they can't end on the cliffhanger of going to warn Lordaeron.

    • @Benji567891
      @Benji567891 9 лет назад +9

      +Reign Stradamus I disagree ending on that cliffhanger would have been perfect. The chances of a sequel are not super small Duncan Jones and Charles Roven of Legendary have openly discussed it numerous times. The chances of a sequel are actually quite high.

    • @TheKyleNelson

      +Reign Stradamus Warcraft 1, 2, and 3 bruh. The stories were perfect they literally could have used the original material and it would have worked perfectly.

    • @m3divh
      @m3divh 9 лет назад +4

      +Benji banjo No they discussed that IF and ONLY IF the movie does good, THEN they make a Sequel. They didn't say anything else. You can not make a trilogy of a movie with a great cliffhanger in the first movie already. Look at for example Star Wars. The first movie can not have such a great cliffhanger, the second sure can as you can at least Count with some fans showing up. The movie still costs a lot of Money to make and counting with a movie to be already a part of a short series or a trylogy or what ever you have to at least have some prood that you make at least all the Money back.

    • @Tomatowormprince
      @Tomatowormprince 9 лет назад

      +Reign Stradamus Not if the showed a bit of why the orcs wanted to invade Azeroth in the first place, and the plot to get blackhand out of leadership, then it would give the movie a shade of grey.

    this is the first trailer breakdown that i can truly agree with, i was like "NO THAT'S NOT WHAT THAT IS" the whole time during most of em. but nobbel you never fail if it comes to lore accuracy. legendary pictures should hire you for the sequel if it ever sees the light of day.

  • @Urielthalas

    I think you missed one clue Nobbel. In the scene where Lothar finds the body of King Llane with the dagger in his neck (which I agree that's what it was), if you look over Lothar's shoulder it looks like the Dark Portal in the background. So that Dark Portal battle I don't think is the climax, I think they shut it down early and kill Llane during that battle, and then the scene with Lothar on the steps of Castle Stormwind.

    Admittedly, I would have preferred it sticking to the story. Maybe a few changes to refine the story, but cutting out HUGE parts of the first Horde invasion to make the story more cinematic is troublesome for people who KNOW the story.
    but really

    I think they will stick more to the story then we think. I see it that way. Discovery of the dark portal-> 1rst attaque on the dark portal->King lane death->Death of medivh and Destruction of stormwind (because I think the other seen with the coffin is in lorderon)->formation of the alliance of lorderon as the final scene and a cliff hanger for the next movie

    • @nathanielcheatle5817
      @nathanielcheatle5817 9 лет назад +3

      But lorderon isn't on the water and Stormwind is and we clearly see the ocean in the background

    • @nathanielcheatle5817
      @nathanielcheatle5817 9 лет назад

      +Nathaniel Cheatle my guess is that the final scene will be the battle at the dark portal.

    • @RuthenTheDarkMagus
      @RuthenTheDarkMagus 9 лет назад +2

      +Nathaniel Cheatle I'm going to bet that the sequence of events is like this:
      Opening narration from Khadgar while he's at Karazhan, explaining the setting a bit. Then he witnesses Medivh open the Dark Portal and books it to inform the Council of Six to tell them what happened. Because he's still an apprentice and Medivh is a highly regarded, if eccentric, wizard, they don't believe him. -> Orcs invade from the dark portal out of nowhere and start pushing into Stormwind like nobodies business. Stormwind suffers more defeats than victories. Durotan and Orgrim follow the rest of the Horde into Azeroth and set up shop in Westfall.-> Durotan and Draka have a discussion over their loyalty to the Horde, and their conflicted feelings over the invasion and the constant battling, probably spurred on by Baby Thrall and how Draka doesn't want him growing up in a world that knows only war. -> Garona gets captured and is brought before King Llane and Lothar, and then parleys with them, telling them that there are some Orcs that would be willing to join them, and that she can lead them to where they are. There will probably be a fuss about it and then something about "having to fight brutality with brutality" and "it's our best and only chance" from Lothar, who has by now fallen in love with Garona and has become sympathetic to her, will convince Llane to go with it. -> Durotan might get kicked out of the Horde at this point after argument with Blackhand/Gul'dan, possibly with him trying to physically assault them, with Gul'dan deciding to take advantage of the situation to have Durotan become open to an alliance with the humans, subtly manipulating an unwitting Garona through sorcery to act as a matchmaker for both parties. -> Garona leads Llane and Lothar to Durotan and the Frostwolves, but the party they brought with them is attacked by a Horde raiding party. The guards that went out to protect them get completely slaughtered, and Llane and Lothar think Garona has betrayed them. Cue rescue by Durotan and the Frostwolves. -> Durotan and Llane negotiate, find common ground, and Durotan brings them back to the Frostwolf camp in Westfall to continue the talks, provide protection, and to "show them how true Orcs live." -> Everyone bonds, especially when King Llane and Lothar are introduced to Draka and Baby Thrall. Durotan and Draka are distrustful of Garona, but uneasily accept her when Lothar vouches for her. -> Night comes and everyone sits down around a campfire as Durotan begins narrating the story of how the Orcish Horde came to be. Cue flashback. This is probably when the scene where that image of Ner'zul comes from. -> The king and Lothar return successfully to Stormwind with the Frostwolves in tow, but as soon as they return they are told that Khadgar is there/Khadgar shows up with important information -> Khadgar tells Llane about the Dark Portal and Medivh's betrayal. Llane believes him. -> Llane holds a war council with Durotan, Lothar, Garona, and all the other generals in Stormwind's army. They plan an assault on the Dark Portal to destroy it, and to kill Medivh at Karazhan, with Durotan's Frostwolves needing extra time to muster their forces, but they promise that they will be there when the time comes as the cavalry to win the day. Then everyone sets out to war. -> Khadgar brings Llane, Lothar, and possibly Garona to Karazhan under the guise of friendship. They stay there for a little while, but Medivh, having gone mostly mad, sees through it quickly and accuses them of trying to kill him, probably while insinuating something about how well he and Garona each other. Llane apologizes, then they all fight. Khadgar gets hit with the aging spell, which doesn't immediately take effect, and Medivh is killed. Lothar doesn't know what to make of what Medivh said, but Garona simply dismisses him as mad. -> Cut back to the Frostwolf camp, where Durotan is preparing for the battle. However, through Garona, Gul'dan was able to divine the location of the camp, and sends a force of assassins to slaughter them all. Durotan either dies there or flees with Draka and Thrall, but the assassins manage to catch up and he dies while Draka sets Thrall adrift in a basket, before she is also killed. -> Cue assault on the Dark Portal. Not knowing the Frostwolf reinforcements aren't coming, Stormwind's army charges into the fray. Fighting becomes tough, but it looks like they might win the day, until Garona, controlled by Gul'dan, assassinates King Llane, at which point everything crumbles, and Stormwind is totally routed. -> The ending is probably that the Dark Portal is still destroyed/disabled somehow by Khadgar, ending the immediate threat of a larger invasion force coming through, but it's a pyhrric victory, since the King is dead, the army is in tatters, and there is still a large Horde of demonic barbarians running around. Cue Llane's funeral, and afterward Lothar's formation of the Alliance of Lordaeron to combat the orc threat, while Khadgar finds a single white hair forming, which he gazes at anxiously, Orgrim readies himself to challenge Blackhand and avenge Durotan, and Gul'dan meeting with Garona to discuss further plans as a last minute reveal.

    I think that initial tower is Karazhan and the grey haired guy we get an over-the-shoulder shot of is Moroes, who we see right after greeting Lothar and Khadgar as they land. +William Smith It's hard, first of all you really cant have a movie where the bad "bad" guys win, and in the game the green orcs win. If you did make the bad guys win you will have to have a GIANTTTT fan base (like 10 times the amount of fans Warcraft has). Remember people are boring and too mainstream, "Happy endings for everyone" -_- and this movie is meant for everyone, not just Warcraft fans.
      And also cause, lets be honest here, the Lore for wc1 and 2 was everywhere (specially with all the stuff WoW added), a movie has to be fairly linear (unless again you have a GIANT fan base, or you're Marvel ;) )

They dont give a damn about the whole "the good guy always has to win in the end", they just write a good story and go with it whether the good guy wins or not. We have more than enough generic good vs evil stories already, sometimes the story is just better if the bad guy wins

    Finally, Nobbel... by the gods - everyone else there was a ton of videos "analysing" the trailer and getting a lot of the lore or places/people mixed up. I was like "I need someone else to cover this right".
    But as a lot of people already have pointed out - I'm scared of Legendary/Blizzard tampering with the Lore to create a more "Cinematic Experience".
    I've been playing since the RTS games and honestly - I eat the lore up like candy... Your videos help fill any of the holes I've missed or serve as great refreshers for my memory when I can't recall a certain character (that and some of the smaller stories I miss like the Headless Horseman or the Darkmoon Faire).
    The portal appears, (from the previous trailer), to not be made by a Draenai child -- probably too gruesome for a movie, so I guess it made a better sense to make it thousands of nameless, faceless people...
    Lothar/Garona looking like they're hooking up (which retcons the Gary Stu of Medan, so... all for that actually...)
    If Stormwind doesn't fall - they don't go to Lordaeron to form the alliance. Archbishop Alonsus doesn't create Paladins to counter Warlocks (And I believe the first Death Knights, like Teron Gorefiend), Lothar doesn't die at the battle of Blackrock - Turalyon doesn't TKO Ogrim to end the war.
    Khadgar, Turalyon, and Aleeria don't go through the portal to close it permanently on the other side.
    They don't need to hire the Stonemason's guild to rebuild - Varian's wife doesn't die, no Lo'gash storyline...
    I'll probably go see the movie (I mean definitely! Like, seriously?! It looks awesome), but I cringe mentally to see what happens. Obviously there's not much to go by from this trailer, not to mention movies have a history to dubbing over scenes entirely (In a manner to show off surprise their audience with the true dialogue) or not even showing some of the scenes from their trailers.

    I personally think the reason that Garona falls in love with Anduin Lothar in this movie is so that Med'an and his story line will never come to pass. Can't have a superpowerful 1/4 Orc 1/4 Dranei 1/2 UberPowerfulOMGAwesomeSauceGuardianMage if his mother knocks boots with Lothar instead.

    THANK YOU NOBBLE!!! For being the first to point out that Draka didn't left Thrall on a river. Honestly this bothers me a lot, given that Draka is portrait as a fucking badass that would never leave Durotar nor Thrall behind, no matter what. In that shot, she looks afraid abandoning baby Thrall, something that she'll never do.
    And I get it, it's for the movie and what not. But it looks like they're portraying her weak. Knowing how she lashed out at Durotar, when he wanted her to stay so she and Thrall b safe, in Lord Of Clans... it really does bother me.

    Uh he flips his sword from one hand to the other. Right hand being his main hand, so it make sense that his sword would comfortably be used in his right and his riding hand his left. This is not for "No Apparent reason" in fact it could be seen as an attention to detail. I mean, you do see him using weapons in his right in almost all other instances. I hope it ends with the sacking of Stormwind and as they sail to Lordaeron Lothar gives a speech about hope or something. Like Star Wars IV: A New Hope. The good guys lose, but they will live to fight another day.
    And I think it would be best if they killed off Durotan and Draka. It would show how much of a evil orc Gul'dan really is. It would also be a great motivation for Ogrim Doomhammer to take out Blackhand and claim the title of Warchief.

    Hey Nobble. I catched some things in trailer.
    1. Your speculation about dalaran/kharazan thing at the first shot of the video : lets assume Dalaran is not airborne yet and it is right at the Loramere Lake in Tirisfal. i dont see any lakes in the first shot so my bet is Kharazan, what do you think?
    2. What are Orcs doing in westfal? It is not possible to go all the way from blasted lands (redridge mountains included) to westfal and not encouter with humans in the Elwynn Forest.
    3. durotan meets with Lothar (garona, llane) probably in searing gorge cuz there is big ass lava hurling mountain behind him so my guess is Blackrock mountain.
    4. picture of your council of six must be placed in the dalaran cuz the kirin tor logo (the eye) is up in the windows.
    5. Lothat jumping from some sort of building : my guess Kharazan again cuz it is pretty damn high and the mountains around and I think this is right after confrotation with Medivh. (also in the novel last guardian there is passage about gryphon roost in kharazan where medivh is talking about riding them dwarfishly (no seats) ) and gryphon in this scene is also without seat.
    6. we can see Lothar without armor taking dive on gryphon into battle at the dark portal BUT there is scene with the dagger in the back and there is armor on Lothar's shoulders and dark portal behind him so.... two battles at the dark portal? i dunno..
    7. First shoot with snowy mountains, could be maybe Alterac Valley (refugee of frostwolf clan) and Lothar on his way to have a tea with Durotan mut its just a wild idea.
    let me know what do you think about this. :-)

    That room in which they are (the place where that "Kid" is running up) is most likely the Sky Chamber, a place outside of reality that the Six Leaders of the Kirin Tor use to converse, without revealing their identities. It is explained as being in the middle of the sky, the weather rapidly changing around them yet never touching them. This could be it, although I don't think they're capable of taking visitors with them (or rather, not allowed to). It might be it, just thought I'd throw it out there :)

    "Look at my bald scary head, you never saw this one coming!", supposed alternate Medivh would definitely be the highlight of this movie.
    Also I'm not sure what the developers were thinking of , but if was to direct a WC movie, I would definitely stick to the original story (and start with Rise of the Horde just because that would not leave a badassier and more dramatic mark, but would also be better for the story development in the long term, if this would be to become a franchise.

    I get the sense that Blizzard has lots of twist in store for this movie. A Reddit chain was discussing the "generic" feel to the trailer in terms of a fantasy movie, and some people had a lot of interesting theories. First, we thought that the changing of Draka and Durotan's deaths had less to do with gruesomeness, but honor. Them being ambushed is kinda sad compared to them dying in battle, better for a movie. Second, they thought that the "funeral scene" isn't the end of the movie. They get the sense that the siege of Stormwind will happen after this shot. Your theory on it being what brings the Alliance together makes a lot more sense. It would make for a good set up for possible sequels, the destruction of Stormwind, the creation of the Paladins, Turalyon and Alleria shacking up, the journey into Dreanor, really the entirety of the second war. Reddit thought that if the producers showed a trailer with twists and turns in it, it wouldn't attract viewers outside of the Warcraft franchise. I love your theories and can't wait to hear what else you have to say about the movie!

    About orcs and hammers: the Blackrock clan use hammers as weapons of choice because of their deep knowledge and practice of mining, blacksmithing and engineering. Swinging hammers is just natural to them, as can be verified in Blackrock orcs throughout WoD and in the Blackrock Spire dungeon. Considering the first invasion of Azeroth was basically spearheaded by the Blackrock clan, it's quite expected to see that many hammers .in the movie.

    @Nobbel87 For the characters you were unsure of, IMDB actually provides a list of characters and their actors. For example the "Goldshire Footman" is Karos. And it's the same guy saying "They're beasts, they should all be destroyed" somewhere in the middle of the trailer. As far as I see it he is now, in the present timeline, a bat handler in Silverpine Forest named Karos Razok :D

    The scene where Lothar discovers the body of, supposedly, King Llane is infront on the dark portal, you can see the structure behind them. The guy looking out of the tower is Medivhs servant Moroes.

    4:03 I believe this is one of the arcane observatories that Kael'thas had to activate around the outskirts of Dalaran (iirc this mission in TFT is where he first allies with Lady Vashj). You can see buildings rising over the mountain in the background, leading me to believe that it's not Karazhan.
    16:11 The robe kinda looks like mage tier 5, which is the Tirisfal Regalia. So, perhaps not Medivh but one of the members of the Council of Tirisfal? As Durotan takes of his wolf-"cape" in front of the green orcs you actually get to see a glimpse of Blackhand and the skulls from Gul'dan's armor. Looks like he's been captivated by the hord at that point. Felt like this was interesting to know :)

    I can't wait for the third movie!
    I mean... if that's going to be a thing.
    Though, it might be kind of hard to make the entire story of Warcraft 3 into a linear movie. They'd have to have like 2-3 movies for the entire thing...

    I think Antonidas is the old bald mage with fancy robes. You can see him during the shot of gatherig of Council of Six (the middle one), when Khadgar arrives and lated during the funeral scene, the old mage on the right.
    And you missed the part where they meet at Blackrock Pass, the border of Burning Stepps and Redridge Mountains, since you can see Blackrock Mountain in the background.
    And yes, Durotan and Draka die, atleast as far as Durotan is conderned, since the 40 sec trailer leak from 2 months ago shows Gul'dan using Drain Life on him, which probably happens durng their fight.
    Oh, and with DJ saying the movie will be Game of Thrones meets Avatar... well, Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back ended on a down note, so why shouldn't Warcraft?

    In the scene when you see Durotan confronting Garona and Lothar, you can see Blackrock Mountain in the background
