- This video is part of the Steps Method Concepts series.
In this video, I use one analysis position to practice the Steps Method 'Search and Solving Strategy':
Orientation
What has changed in the position after my opponent's last move?
What does my opponent want to do?
Direct threats: tactical characteristics
Positional: activity and vulnerability
Calculation and Evaluation
Establish goal
Find moves that fit with the goal using the Steps Method mini-concepts
Increase activity or exploit vulnerabilities
Verify calculation
How will the position change after I play my move?
Did I consider my opponent's strongest reply?
Thank you very much for these videos!! , they are very helpful, you really explain the concepts very clearly.
Great video and really helpful .
Thank you.
I hope you check out the other ones too!
Excellent video. I learned chess as a kid and even got to 1000 elo without ever learning analysis. I just calculated. Now as an adult improver I'm trying hard to break that habit and analyze first. I've been doing steps method for a year now, currently on step 4. This really helps solidify the thinking process.
Thanks.
I notice with my students that when they are able to separate Orientation from Calculation/Visualization, they see so much more!
Rook E1
Oponent can Still cover rook atack with a bishop 😂
