    The contractors took the money and ran off! It's sad!

    Im working on one right now. The sheathing under the siding is completely rotten. The whole house! The materials used was not weatherized. There is no studs. They used pre manufactured styrofoam sections. The house will fall apart if they were to get another hurricane.

    I blame the inspectors for letting these homes to be built

      I don't trust most inspectors especially the ones in New Orleans. Many of them are a dime a dozen.

    Inspectors should have caught issues and not allowed these homes to be built. This is an epic failure all around. During hurricane rebuilds, there are far too many fake contractors that do crappy work.

      Many inspectors in New Orleans are a dime a dozen. Not hard to find one that's for sale. Look at the Hard Rock Hotel.

    over 42 million dollars to build 106 homes... that's like over $400k pure house to build, did you see how flimsy those walls came down with a bulldozer? that contractor should do some time behind bars.
    people are just straight up dirty.

    • @hammerhead1697

      And why build houses with all the weird designs? All that does is raise the cost to build them for no good reason.

    Absolutely disgraceful how the contractors et al. clearly exploited Brad and Angelina’s kindness and good intentions - not to mention the vulnerability of people impacted by the floods. Shameless thieves.

    This is laughable.
    They should have stuck with designs that are tried and true.
    Current, old style, shotgun houses built with local cypress that are accustomed to this environment with a high humidity.

      if that's the case he most have paid them off to look the other way because those were disposable houses build to last long enough to get the money and run before they fall apart .

      That's no BS. I worked for a residential building contractor on Hayne Blvd during the 80's. Some of the inspectors were looking to be paid off. There were definitely a few sleazy ones.

    I'm sorry but those homes shouldn't have been sold, if you're building homes to HELP people, then those homes should've been donated to the community. Or if sold, do it for a very low price, VERY VERY low..... Brad Pitt is a very wealthy person, so is his wife or whatever she is, so this is shady as hell.... They should pay off the mortgages for every single person who bought one of those homes, at the very least!!!!!

    • @melioristicone333
      @melioristicone333 2 года назад

      At the absolute very least they should make a statement indicating responsibility. This whole situation stinks

    • @sandyjuntunen4088
      @sandyjuntunen4088 Год назад

      They weren't responsible for inspecting them- at most they're responsible for not making sure those they trusted to build were doing it right & not cheating on standards to pocket the money.

    This initative was featured on This Old House. It was a joint venture between international Global Green USA (Director Beth Galante) - lead funding partner Home Depot Foundation and Brad Pitt (HOLY CROSS PROJECT). Global green focuses on energy efficient healthy buildings. This is this is their specialty. Somebody dropped the ball in a huge way for this shoddy construction to get by these people let alone high profile onlookers, etcetera etcetera. Heads should definitely roll. I don't see how you could put your name on something and not have your own inspectors checking on (TRUST BUT VERIFY) all inspectors...

    The houses were designed wrong for tropical conditions. Those designs were better suited for the desert with little to no rain. The materials being used were totally wrong for this area. That should have been called the "Make It Rot" foundation.

    After they purchased the house,..its no longer the sellers responsibility. Im from New Orleans and i know for sure, so many are in the entitled minset.. actually dont even know that property, houses, land..has to be maintained and managed. As a homeowner, your failure to care for your property is nobody faulr but yours. Failure to familarize themselves with the material or structural build ..and whats required to take care of it.
