ALAMAT started very strong with their debut Kbye, the first OPM song that features other Philippine languages like locano, Kapampangan, Bikol, Waray, Cebuano, and Hiligaynon to ever enter the international charts. Sadly, Kin (Jose Joaquin Canlas) representing the Tagalog people who had many fans left early (March 2021). Kin's departure had some effect to the fandom. However ALAMAT bounced back with the powerful hit Kasmala (Kin was actually with ALAMAT when they trained Arnis for Kasmala). ALAMAT without Kin had many great moments together as a group. They appeared in many shows and recorded several hits including Sandigan, Porque, Litrato, Kasmala, ABKD, and Tibay 'Yan (with Inigo Pascual) which gave them their first internatonal award for winning Best Music Video in the Asian TV Awards. Everything's doing great for ALAMAT when unxpectedly Valfer (representing the Hiligaynon-speaking people) left in the 1st quarter of 2022. While Magiliws are still mourning Valfer's departure, Gami (representing Central Visayas) went live where he painfully announced his departure from the group. The Magiliws were so devastated. Many expressed of unstanning ALAMAT. I myself doubted if the remaining members could still make it. Even the team behind ALAMAT including their director, Direk Paul Lacsamana asked "Worth it pa bang ituloy ang ALAMAT?" I, like other fans, was expecting ALAMAT to disband until they appeared in PPOP Con and dropped SPNL (Sa Panaginip Na Lang), a ballad which held Magiliws together. SPNL was like a tribute to their former members (Kin, Valfer, and Gami) and an offering to the Magiliws who remained faithful to ALAMAT. SPNL could also be their make or break song. Fortunately it moved fans and it helped them transition into Say U Love Me and eventually launching their first EP, Pasulong. What a redemption ALAMAT! Bdw, I'm a world music and alternative rock fan. I only listened to reggae, ska, industrial metal, bossa nova, Indian classical music, gamelan, and Philippine ethnic music. I used to say "Ang korni ng PPOP" and I always despised PPOP groups. It was after accidentally clicking "Kbye" when I was converted into loving PPOP. ALAMAT ang unang PPOP group na sineryoso ko and I never regret becoming a PPOP fan.
I can relate sa "Ang korni Ng pPop", clicking a video accidentally, in my case,out of curiosity with Maharani. Which led me to Ily ily and I was like" How come I've never heard of this group before?". Coz they deserve to be known. At pareho ng sentiment with u about the "only pPop na sineryoso q." Actually, khapon q lng sila nadiscover 😅 Don't know ano ung history nila, but I'm glad sila ung natira s group and hope they'll make it big.
Na attract ako sa concept so I was so happy na yung Hiligaynon speaking member is so versatile vocally pati visuals and dance. Kaya I left when Valfer left, jusko our Yuhom, but I'm so glad to be back. Now I put all my efforts stanning Alas bilang Mindanaoan din naman ako end of day. Lipat bahay sa purok 9 hahah. Worth it ang Alamat.
I don't know infos about ALAMAT. so far I just enjoy listening to their song mag-iistart palang kilalanin sila. Sa pagkakatanda ko napanuod ko yung kbye MV nila nung debut nila tapos next MV ko nang napanuod yung Dagundong, i frequently listen to Ppop nowadays tyaka i go to ALAMAT all songs playlist haha. Isa sa pinakafavorite ko yung Sa Panaginip Nalang 🥹 tatlo na palang members ang umalis 💔 sana mas maging successful pa ang ALAMAT ✊🏻
What I love about Alamat is that they stay true to their purpose. It's about showcasing Filipino language and culture through their music. Their vocals have really improved. Apart from SB19, these boys also deserve to be recognize all over the world. Hopefully they would stay together for long since they are still young. They still have a lot of room for improvements.
