The Philippines indeed is a country with diversity in language! 😍 Thank you to ALAMAT for making this show! 🙏

ALAMAT is a Multilingual Pinoy Pop Group that sings different languages across the Philippines. Please keep in mind that thet sing full blown languages, not dialects.
Ang Galing Naman Ng “ALAMAT Group” They’re Representing Different Parts Of The Philippines .
This is why I love Alamat talaga, nakakatuwa pakinggan yung mga lenggwahe nila! We just manifested this before, kinukulit si Ms. JESSICA to feature Alamat, and here they are! Wala talagang imposible.
To some of the commenters, those are regional Languages. Dialects are variations of a language. Bicolano is a language- Bicol Naga, Bicol Catanduanes are dialects--- they are all Bicolano but there's a slight difference in some words, pronunciations, etc for example: Mabakal, Mabakar, Bak'al all means "to buy"
But I understood why most filipino called them dialects and not language because of an accepted reason. By the way, even TAGALOG can be called dialect for this reason.
When we differentiate language and dialects, the very common thing we come up is that a language has its own unique language feature different from other languages. While dialect is the variation of that certain language often times due to minor differences. So in other words, Language has a larger scale while dialect is the smaller one. Therefore, why we tend to call them dialects because most of these 180 unique languages are part of a bigger language group which is called AUSTRONESIAN LANGUAGE. This means Tagalog, Bisaya, kapampangan, Waray, Hiligaynon etc are dialects of Austronesian language; together with Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, Lao, etc. They can be called dialects when we described them as variations of Austronesian language.
Same goes through to Cebuano, Hiligaynon, aklanon, waray are dialects of BISAYA or Visayan Language. In addition, that's the only time we can call them dialects. But if we compare it to the same degrees of languages like tagalog to cebuano, then both are unique language of their own. But both of them are dialects of Austronesian language.
@@davetabuyan2172 What you are saying is incorrect. Austronesian is a language family and not a single language. To explain this to you better let me give you an example, Tagalog is a language. Some dialects of Tagalog are Southern Tagalog, Mindoro Tagalog and Central Luzon Tagalog. They are mutually intelligible, so speakers from these regions can understand each other but may use different words or terms or speak in a different accent. To call something a dialect when it's a language is a way of putting down the speakers of said language. We must be more sensitive lalo na ngayon sa online platforms grabe mag asaran ang mga Tagalog at Bisaya e pare pareho naman tayong Filipino.
Pinoys should really stan Alamat and watch Educational videos like this. Many are still not aware that Ilocano, Bisaya, etc. are languages. The sad thing is, many would still insist that those are dialects even if they're being educated.
Hope more teachers promote Alamat to students because they flex our culture and Philippine languages. Alamat can connect more to Gen Z in this kind of conversation just by using their music.
Funny part is if any Tagalog goes to a Bisaya speaking place and some still think it’s a dialect. Hon you would understand them completely if Bisaya is a dialect. You won’t even need Tagalog subtitles if it’s a dialect 😂
DEPEd must change how they teach that Philippine languages are dialects.
it's mostly miseducation coming from our educators who also probably learned the same thing.
may mga guro, propesor, pati historian na naintriga at nagpapakilala na sa kanila sa mga klase o school program lalo pag buwan ng wika.
buti na lang talaga may alamat na gumigising sa interes natin sa mga ganitong isyu ng ating pagka-pilipino. #kasmala 😎🤎
Exactly. This is proof that those are languages in their own right.
So proud of Alamat! Thank you for continuing your mission to highlight the rich cultural and language diversity of the Philippines! 🤎
Hope they make it really big. Ang galing nila napanuod ko sila ng live.
learned something new today (i'm not from Philippines) 😊 thank you so much for inviting Alamat ☺️🙏
Guguapo ng mga batang ito at talented. I'm not aware of this Alamat, thank you Jessica for featuring them in your channel. Glad that we have representative from Kalinga(Cordillera)..
Taneo is also the leader of the group.
Taneo's so cool! I'm proud that he's an indigenous member, a coolheaded member of the group that calmly brings the other boys together.
Mo is also the leader, right? They are co-leaders and that’s cool.
@@AnnaGiliw ooh I didn’t know that! I stand corrected, I thought Tomas is the leader?
@@kimmirandaart9909 no, he is the oldest “kuya” but Mo and Taneo are co-leaders. I think Taneo is the leader for dance and Mo is for vocals. Mo is also featured in the “leader” edition of PARCINQ along SB19’s Pablo, VXON’s C13, BGYO’s Gelo and many more.
6:00 She's actually right about Hiligaynon being close to Waray since both languages are classified under Central Visayan languages with Capiznon, Porohanon, Masbateño, and Sorsoganon.
Sa mga nag tatalo at nalilito ganito pagkakaiba ng languages at dialects.
LANGUAGES: Pwedeng koleksyon ng mga lengwahe sa isang bansa (kagaya sa atin tawag natin ay FILIPINO) O sinasalita ng buong/majority sa isang bansa. If ang mga mamamayan ng isang bansa nagsasalita lamang ng ENGLISH ang kanilang pangunahin at kinagisnang lengwahe ay ENGLISH.
Example of Languages: Filipino, English, Hangul (Korea), Nihongo (Japan), Mandarin (China), and so on.
DIALECTS: Sinasalita lamang sa iisang/iilang lugar.
Example: Tagalog-Zambales (in this video) if only he speak Sambal language then we could hear the regional language but sadly he didn't so YES the only dialect in this video is Tagalog-Zambales, Kansai dialect (Japan), Beijing dialect (China), Jeju dialect (Korea). If may mag tatanong ano yung Tina, Bolinao, Botolan sa Sambal language those are dialects as well.
Iba pang halimbawa ng dialect/diyalekto ay ang ENGLISH language kasi maraming bansa ang nagsasalita ng ganitong lengwahe kagaya ng English (USA), English (Canada), English (UK), English (Filipino), English (Australia), atbp.
If wala pa din, standardized is HELLO while HOWDY is the dialect.
Anyway, i enjoyed this so much Jessica and team thank you for featuring them! not a fan but i know them since then and it's really cool to know that we have this kind of boy group. ❤❤
Thank you for this very accurate example!
Jessica already a made a video (ep. 1of this series) of more thorough explanation on difference between dialect and language. Even interviewed a language expert. You can check it out.
Our official languages may be just Filipino and English but we have hundreds of other languages that some say it's just a dialect but it's not.
Mali.
This has already been debunked by Linguistic experts and anthropologists.
Pinagsasabi mo na ang dialect ay sinasalita lamang sa iisang lugar? So you mean to say Castillan is a dialect because it's only spoken by 1 area in Spain? Or Cantonese is a dialect of Chinese?
The true definition is based on how it can be understood or perceived.
Language defines words that are not understood or perceived by 1 group of people to another, while dialect is a variation of a language that can still be perceived by both.
Gamitin natin example mo.
"Hello" is an english LANGUAGE for greetings. You tell this to a non-english speaker, it becomes non-perceivable. If you say "Howdy" to another group of english speakers, they would still understand it as a greeting because "Howdy" is a variation of the english word "Hello".
"Cantonese" is a chinese LANGUAGE because not all chinese will be able to understand/comprehend/perceive it.
Same thing with regional FILIPINO LANGUAGES. Try mong pag-usapin ang non-tagalog speaker sa isang tagalog speaker, palagay mo magkakaintindihan sila?
So happy you were able to have them as guest because ALAMAT really represents Filipinos in a different level and to have them as buwan ng wika special is so spot on ❤️
wow i kinda like this group now . i listened to their song maharani and i love it. My bias Alas basta taga davao talented gyud! haha
Wow, ang saya naman nito. Maganda sa sunod roadtrip with Alamat sa mga lugar nila Miss Jessica. Thanks for having our boys!
Love this kind of content, ganda marinig mga iba't Ibang language, as a Bisaya(Cebuano) myself, these diff. Regional languages are very familiar, having a Waray grandma, and a Hiligaynon grandpa, and having both bisaya parents is something to be proud of I may be can't speak waray and Hiligaynon but it runs through my blood, Ph is very diverse there's so much to serve here. At super proud talaga ako sa Alamat they're the only PPOP group that are multilingual, Multi-Cultural, Multi-ethnic and Multi-talented, and they are also very nice and humble boys.
Alamat talaga ang dapat headliners when it comes to opm/ppop because they trully repressents 'tatak pinoy' cultures to their core. From its music, languages(dialects), to vissuals. They could be our ambassador sa tourism industry.
Hello Miss Jessica! Thank you for featuring ALAMAT and their regional languages ♥️ Btw on your question regarding what language do they speak in Banaue, it's Tuwali, one of the three local languages they speak in the province of Ifugao, along with Ayangan and Kalanguya 🙂
4:28 damn you Tomas 😂😂😂 I almost died!!! Grabe su ulok ko habang nagdadrive 🤣🤣🥲
I'm starting to like this group. I support all the Ppop groups. I watch all of them that I don't have time to watch my drama series.
This presentation is right up my street. In my ignorance I thought the Philippines uses three languages in total. I hope you are all planning to collaborate again in the not too distant future.
This is so nice. Aside from showcasing their local languages, it is a nice promotion for local tourism in their respective provinces/regions.
Thank you Jessica for this content & for featuring Alamat ^_^
Pati speaking voice nila sarap pakinggan. My first time hearing about them! Thank u for featuring more filipino talents para kahit kaming mga taga ibang bansa na e updated parin
I hope you can check out more of Alamat, they have no skip discography and they always incorporate not just different Filipino languages but also other Philippine culture and history in their music, outfits, dances etc.
nasa ibang bansa or taga ibang bansa?
this is so fun❤ what a unique way to feature different languages of the PH for the buwan ng wika
I'm starting to love them. They are so humble malalaman mo talaga sa interview with Jessica. Just followed them on Spotify. ❤️
Di ka magsisisi 🤎
The only criticism I have of this video is... it's too short!
Alamat is so handsome.. All of them.. 😍😍😍😍
real
This was such an entertaining episode. It was easy for Jessica 😅(next time no ‘famous food’ hints or giving questions. Just a suggestion) also Im now fan of the boys ❤❤❤
Jess, this is definitely an interesting segment. You will be surprised but my mother is a Waray, my father is an Aklanon, I speak Hiligaynon but studied in Cebu and so speak Cebuano too. Here’s more Langga Jessica: I’m married to a Bicolano. Working in Manila gave me a chance to have Ilocano and Kapangpangan friends. It’s a given I know English and Tagalog. How crazy is that? 😂 ❤ Hope Alamat will make it big!
You are so Alamat-coded! Haha Very multilingual! 😊
Omg! Aklanon din tatay ko but my mom is Ilocano. Never learned the languages but occasionally went to the regions because of family gatherings. I noticed that Aklanon is harder to learn and understand maybe because they change some of the sounds particularly letter l and r? I’m not sure but it’s an interesting language.
My cousin met his wife in Manila. His wife hails from Cagayan. She speaks Itawes, Ibanag, and Ilocano. They moved to Bicol to raise their family so his wife also learned Bikol Central and my hometown's tongue Miraya. Of course she also speaks Tagalog and English.
Tatak ALAMAT. Tatak PINOY! 🇵🇭🙏
Thanks for having our 6inoos on your channel! 🤎
Taneo's Ilokano is actually the one that we igorots spoke here in Baguio. Ilokano in the lowlands of La union etc. is a bit different especially with the accent.
And this is an example of dialect.
@@katawamagiliw4963 correct. Actually ilocano has only two dialects. The wet sound and hard sound😂😂😂😂 but accents depends on your origin as they say😂😂😂😂
right. i come from the same place and can clearly tell the difference between a native ilocano speaker and a non-native like us highlanders. someone on social media commented not being able to understand what taneo was saying in one of their songs despite being an ilocana herself. i understood it 99% due to an unfamiliar word. having been raised abroad, he occasionally speaks filipino and ilocano with a twang 😅🤎

I already hear their group name but don't have that interest. However, after hearing their voices, background, and "mission". I'm curious and wanted to check em out. Thank you, Jessica!
check them out, coz their music are so good and they are so talented
Their music is soo good!
walang tapon mga songs nila eveyday ko pinapakinggan hindi nakakasawa
Maligayang pagdating sa Barangay Magiliw! ^^
Why are you geh?
Thanks for inviting Alamat Ms. Jessica. I kinda want it longer though 😊
The only MULTILINGUAL P-Pop group, Alamat! Thank you, Ms. Jessica for guesting Alamat. Sobrang learning experience. Philippine LANGUAGES are so fascinating.
Everytime I see Jao, I can't unhear "Bassers, bassers song"🤣🤣🤣
The reason why ilocano and kapampangan sound different is because both are part of the northern Philippine language family while tagalog, bicolano, and all the visayan languages are part of the greater central Philippine languages.
Eyy! Astig ng grupo na 'to, I will definitely going to listen to their songs on Spotify 💗
Finally!!!! Binagsak na ang vlog. Thank you, Jessica. 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Ilocano parang sounds like Indonesian talaga. Hehehe
Ay-ayaten ka means I love you❤
Btw Proud ilocano here from Ilocos Norte😊..
Ay-ayaten daka Jessica Lee! 😘🥰❤️💕
Thank you for featuring Alamat, Jess!!
Ilocano is the closest Philippine language to Malay in terms of vocabulary. Probably because Ilocos was a major stopover in the pre-colonial Srivijayan/Majapahit Southeast Asian trade routes to China.
That said Ilocano is grammatically far more complex than Malay, since it is still a Philippine language. Despite the large number of shared words, Ilocano is not actually closely-related to the Malay language
@@AngryKittens that's really interesting, thank you for sharing facts!
🤖
Because both Ilocano and Bahasa Indonesia are dialects of Austronesian language. They both originated and part of a larger language group, the austronsian language. However, though they are dialects of a larger language group, they are languages of their own.
The difference between language and dialect are often time filled with controversy. But no. They don't mean digredation nor belittling. Language is anything you use to express either by words, by letter or even by your body. Hence there is called BODY LANGUAGE. We don't call it body dialect. Animals have their own sounds and way of communications and we call them as their language not dialects. A dialects, though usually use in modern day as a way to described those variation of a bigger language, but the main usage of this term is simply "describe a smaller scale language" because even that smaller scale language is a language by itself. Remember, a simple facial expression is called a language how much more a language often times called dialects which is used in a big region. Just like Boholano & Davaeño are dialects of Cebuano but they are language by themselves.. we will only use dialect if we compare it to its mother language. Just like tagalog, cebuano, ilokano, hiligaynon etc are dialects of Austronesian language together with Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Lao etc.
I'm from cavite... Pero andami kong na tututunan kay ms Jessica Lee about philippines
Ganda ng mga songs nila promise di kayo mapapahiya o manghihinayang sa load. Solid na solid. New Pinoy talent group ❤ waray waray here present 😊
Eyy, Alamat. Kinilig naman ako sa inyo. Ilokano here from Baguio and same region as Taneo so I am really proud of him and his group of course. Love you, boys.
Alamat is so iconic i love them. Thank you Miss Jessica for having them
Aw I hope they sang a verse of the current song they’re promoting or just any song para kumpleto yong guesting pero overall masaya naman. And I think yong different languages sa kanta nila brings different colors sa tunog ng kanta nila, sa layers, tonality ganun. Fan ako ng SB19 & I don’t follow (yet) that much yong vlogs, etc. ng Alamat but I love their songs! More power!
Same but I switched over from Alamat, to following SB19, and loving them both. Alamat may be a younger group than SB, but their cultural diversity and historical richness always sings true, and now I'm getting to know other girl/boy groups in PPop thanks to both of them!
They have latest vlog with Miss Jessica sa Alamat channel, tinuruan nila ng sayaw ng Day and Night si Miss Jess.

ALAMAT is one that really stand by their advocacy to promote the different languages here in the Philippines. Apart from that, they have an AMAZING discography. Hopefully, Filipinos will be open-minded about PPOP & start supporting them. Stan ALAMAT!
Good evening po!
May test po tayo to check kung ang dalawang lenguwahe ba ay two different languages or two different dialects (of a language). Ito po ay ang mutual intelligibility.
Kapag hindi nagkakaintindihan (mutually un-intelligible), magkaibang languages yun ex. ang nagsasalita ng tagalog at nagsasalita ng bikolano ay hindi magkakaintindihan, so they speak different languages.
Kapag nagkakaintdihan ang dalawa (mutuallly intelligible), then they are speaking different dialects of a language ex. Ang tagalog ng Bulacan vs. tagalog ng Batangas. may pagkakaiba pero kaya pa rin nilang magkaintindihan.
Salamat po!
Ang happy lang ng vlog na to. Ang cute ng edit hahahah. Sa mga sfx napapakita kakulitan nila hahahaha cute cute
Thanks for this feature vid Ms. Jessica! Grabe I'm born and raised in Manila PH, yet bakit feeling ko mas maraming pang alam si Ms. Jessica sa culture ng Pilipinas kesa sakin. Definitely need to start reviewing myself and my point of views hahaha

Finally! Ang mga Ginoo with Ms. Jessica. Ang brief pero ang cute ng interaction. I really love Jessica for promoting Filipino culture, and it's just right to have Alamat as guest to feature different Philippine languages. 🤎
Hiiiii just a fun fact? I'm from the Cordilleras and I can say that the place my mom came from, which is Banaue, Ifugao is not the only place where there are rice terraces. They do speak Ilocano but the main language there is Ifugao. So the place where one of Taneo's parents (Kalinga if I'm not mistaken) also have rice terraces and they also speak Ilocano but a different variation from ours. Ilocano has spread wide from Region 1 to the Cordilleras that it has wide range of dialects where some words are unique to each province or area.
sALAMAT for promoting our languages! Sarap sa tenga!
