- The Tennessee Titans took a major risk when they drafted Texas defensive lineman T'Vondre Sweat in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but there is a chance for a major reward if Sweat pans out. In today's film breakdown, Tyler Rowland goes over what makes Sweat so intriguing; the raw power, advanced hand work and impressive mobility, but also why there are concerns including his pad level and lack of power rush usage.

Will T’Vondre Sweat BOOM or BUST for the Titans??
BOOM TITAN UP BIG SWEAT
BOOM!!!
Boom on the field (hopefully)
BUST of the field (likely)
More likely a bust from where they took him, but will be productive in helping Big Jeff. I would say there’s more of a chance of him only being here 4 years.
@@Alan_Kress People are acting as though Sweat has a reputation of being a bad guy. He absolutely does not.
It’s crazy how many fans talking about “I gave it a F or D+” but act like the man didn’t win the award for the best interior DT, like he wasn’t a unanimous all American, like he wasn’t the best run defender, and didn’t have a decent pass rush win rate. Fans kill me, cut the film on and you’ll see the guy dominate. The things he needs to fix is super easy fixes, even the first 2 bad reps shown later in the video he essentially does his job clogs the area for somebody else to make the play.
College awards don’t mean NFL success
But they DON’T mean bust either. All your takes are fixable and he did not do the things you pointed out ALL the time like you said. DT’s who have won all his awards do not fit into your assessment of him. He is NOT WHAT YOU SAY HE IS. And all this will come out with his play. Your wrong -
Early in the breakdowns - "He does a great job of getting low. Low man wins!"
2 minutes later - "Sweat plays too high because of his conditioning." 🙄
And critiquing someone for blowing up a play, pressuring the QB, and not finishing the sack (again due to conditioning apparently) is silly unless you want to finish it with "This happens occasionally to even the greatest pass rushers off all time." It's either a dishonest or ignorant assessment.
It seems like you put on the tape of the pick you bashed and whined about and quickly realized he was much more than a big body that could plug the hole. But of course ego won't let you admit you were wrong so you must find things to knit pick to make yourself feel better. It's okay to be wrong. It's even better to be man enough to admit it.
😂 The rep against Washington you repeatedly say "Sweat is driven off of the ball by the C for 3, 4, 5 yards..." when in actuality he's lined up on the 17, beats the C across his face to hit the RB in the hole at about the 16 1/2. What the hell are you watching?!
Bunch of talk down on this young man ...
This video gave me even more confidence in big Sweat. To me conditioning and pass rush plan alleviate his negatives. The talent is obvious now he needs to lock in with Jeff and follow his lead.
It's definitely easier to get a stud out of a cleaned up hyper talent than to make a less talented guy better.
He's going to hurt someone's Qb
Lmao he’s BIG
Denard will get him right. We got something for Lamar and Patty
@@stevieb.o.egordytv6391 J. Simmons will help get him right too. Mentor and advice on improving play
Let’s Go!!!
23:43 Sweat WAS an edge rusher when he first came to Texas, which is probably why he is kinda freaky athletic for someone his size.
Yep came in at 260
The film against Oklahoma. That was accurately a dt zone read. To play his gap and read the qb and go make the tackle against the rb is special. Super hard to do.
Yep great range.
The heat you caught was due to the extreme reaction to the pick. At least give the guy a chance. I learned my lesson last year with Levis.
I felt like that before he was drafted.
@@TicTacTitans Based on what?
I looked back at my last draft simulator, and I actually picked Lathon and Sweat. The thing is I picked Sweat in the 4th and Cooper Dejean in the 2nd. I doubt Sweat would have lasted that long, but then I didn't think Cedrick Gray would last that long. So basically, it's my draft in the early rounds with Gray instead of Dejean.
Great video. Didn’t see a lot of film on him. I will look more into him now.
Thank you!
First thing that popped out at me when I went to his film after drafting him was those quick hands, good punch, good placement and his SWIM MOVE. A swim move that reminds me a lot of Denico Autry's. With him being labeled as a power guy he doesn't actually bull rush a lot or try to push you out of the way. He uses technique, has quickness and finesse to him. That to me shows he does take his on the field work serious. If he can cut down to 350-355 and stay focused this guy can be very dangerous.
He has very good hands.
I don't mind the pick because he potentially fit the mold physically what Jeffrey Simmons in his prime need as a partner next to him. Definitely has the vibe of what we have seen in the past from the Ravens defensively drafting large DT's that command double teams just by their size, stuff the run and able to from time to time rush the passer.
The off the field stuffs, I don't expect every NFL players to be choir men, specially at 21 or 22. Just take care of business on the field as you mature and don't do anything crazy off it that could tarnish the brand. Living myself in a big city, it's all about balance...
if he can be a solid starter beyond his rookie contract, it's a win for the Titans. Anything more is just gravy at this point....
I hope Sweat makes us eat all of our words.
So glad you cooled off and came around a little bit. The hate he has been getting already when he hasn't even had a chance to step on the field and prove himself has been crazy unfair. He will be a huge help in reviving our run defense and will unlock new levels for big Jeff and hopefully the edge rushers as well! My biggest concern is if he will constantly be a 3 down lineman or not cause we need him to be
I wouldn’t say I have. But it’s time to move on. I have my draft take on the pick, but now he’s on the team. So time to treat him like all the other picks.
Just because Tyler didn’t love the pick, doesn’t mean that the points he made on why we shouldn’t have picked him weren’t absolutely valid.
I for one am excited to see Sweat take the field. He’s got massive upside to the game and size. I actually think all the pushback he’s received will be a great motivator for him getting his act together moving forward on this team. We all make mistakes, I’m not casting stones at him. I just hope he takes his role on this team seriously.
@@marshallstrander3922 Says who? Everyone has their own opinion and that’s fine but that’s all it is at the end of the day cause it’s not facts, specifically, about the character stuff. Thinking we know more about a persons character than a multimillion dollar organization and a person they just invented millions into just bc of some random internet sources is insane cause there is almost always a lot of missing context and info. I’m not excusing his mistake but that as well doesn’t make him a bad person. I think people are having JRob and Panda withdrawals which I understand lol but if we just let the man prove himself like we did with Big Jeff and his “character issues” and mistake that he made we might not have to eat our words later 🤷🏾♂️ #LetRanCook
He’s a Nose Tackle!! He’s not a regular DT. His job is close that middle and/or take up multiple blockers. He’s not there to chase down QBs or a RB on a toss. NTs don’t typically get much sacks or tackles, more loss of yards in their zone. If we’re still in the 3-4 base that often then our Defense as a whole isn’t putting other teams in 3rd and long enough.
You just explained why you DON'T use the number 38 pick on him. Also, 60-70% of NFL defense is played in Nickel so base defense isn't that important.
Do you know how many times Kansas st threw the ball that game? The only thing they could do was pass. They shut the run down the whole game
So, on your "your number one concern" video vs Iowa State the first round pick, number 90 Byron Murphy II is on the ground flat. Then "beat" Sweat shows the tenacity , flexibility, and awareness to still find the ball carrier and get in on the tackle. This negative play still had positives.
Getting moved off the ball, spun around and falling into the RBs path is a crazy positive lol
And this isn’t a Byron Murphy breakdown
I think it's worth noting that not only with Sweat be in the meeting room with Big Jeff, but he's also gonna be taking practice reps against Cushenberry, Skoronski, maybe Radunz at RG? They'll get him ready for game day no doubt.
Titan Up ⚔️
Titan Up!
First time watching you live let’s go
LFG!
This guy is gonna be a menace, may not be a premier position in todays NFL BUT doesn’t mean a guy can’t wreck shop at the position still and if he does ,it’s definitely worth a 2nd rounder
He affected the QB at the end and made him throw the ball to a covered guy.
I got a fever and the only prescription is more BULL RUSH!
NEED IT!
My question is how the hell do you go from 260 to 370 in 3 years. There is no way the Texas coaching staff told him to put on 100 lbs. He must of lost control of his conditioning and eating. Those things are very difficult to get back under control.
HOWEVER! If this man gets down to 345 and well conditioned, he will be a top interior lineman for a long time.
Drinking and partying and eating.
Sark wouldn't be okay with him playing much above the weight he wanted. He is all about accountability.
@@TicTacTitans You're just making shit up now. Stop it. You are losing followers through your stupidity.
I think Tyler can let his emotions dictate his takes at times , I think sweat is a solid pick with a high ceiling
He is a perfect fit for what this defense is going to do this year under d wilson
Not high on the pick I just hope Sweat does good I gave the pick a D+ but for a fact Sweat was not making it out of the 2nd round. I hope Big Jeff, Tracy Rocker, and Coburn keep Sweat focused!
Let's hope they are good babysitters lol

I love how everyone trusts that their faith at being a fan GM is better than an actual GM. Ran is going to lead this team to victory. End of story.
It frustrates me how we act like he should be a perfect nose tackle already. These are PROSPECTS drafter for their UPSIDE, no team is drafting based on how bad they are… they pick them for what makes them rare and then they rely on the coaching to correct the issues. He’s a 2nd draft prospect. He’s not a top 10 NFL ready starters. Why is nobody acting for him like he was Radunz or, Fulton?? You know why, because you make this personal and let his personality get to your feelings
He kinda reminds me of cam Hayward with that hand work
Great film job and commentary. I’m going to assume the coaching staff n players recognized these flaws and get him right.
I think the high risk, high reward, of drafting Sweat in the 2nd round is well understood amongst the Titan organization; which would prioritize investment.
#TitanUp
Definitely the case.
I do agree he needs to bull more. Benefit to that is he's about to be lined up beside one of the best bull rushers in the game.
Yep has to leverage his power more.

So you are of course up for my disgust with your behavior. And have you looked into his reputation this past year with his team mates and coaches ? He turned it around in and on off the field. You, in talking about him needing to be babysat is an awful way to express your opinion because it is an insulting belittling way to give us your analysis. Throw in the yelling and you look like a kid. I’m addressing you with the SAME attention to respect you show Sweat. That’s all. Sweat is a young man who has shown those that depend on him; he is growing up as a ball player and person and this is based on those coaches and players and fans who need him to be the best he can be. So Derrick Henry if he was on the d-line, prior to the Eddie George talk Henry was trying to be a shifty elusive pack instead of taking advantage of his size and power
Yep has to be more of a blend
Did you guy's watch his senior bowl highlights? Good god I felt bad for the offensive lineman.

Could be like a Fletcher Cox Jalen Carter combo. Would've been happier if they traded back and got him & a 3rd. High probability that he may have still been there later in the 2nd. I wasn't happy about Jeff, but he proved me wrong. High hopes.

It’s hard for me to hear you talk positive of him after your reaction video where you said:
- “This is a Disaster pick”
- “This is a Disaster draft”
- “Picking him is spitting in the face of Tennessee Titans fans”
Well if you don't want to learn than don't watch.
Is called getting skinny in the gap
You don't win the best D-lineman award but also in the runnings for a bust.....u might as well put every other defensive lineman in that category since they wasn't as good to win the award that HE did
Sweat is a rookie, so stop putting dumb titles and ridiculous standards on him because you dont like the pick. He's a Rookie DT. That's what he is
Man I hope he doesn't suck!
Will all be about his approach off the field. He has on field talent.
Maintaining what tn has come to expect up the middle would be a success in the scheme of things
Stopping the run in nickel is importsnt

@@dadsonworldwide3238 Yep this was a JRob/Vrabel draft.
@@TicTacTitansthis was not a JRob/Vrabel type of draft lol. What did yall expect from the organization?? We go & get the best wr in FA in Ridley, another rb, best pass blocking center & decent starters then made a trade for the best CB available. Y’all expected a top WR in the draft or edge when in all reality we addressed everything we needed in the draft with starters. Pollard/Spears, Dhop/Ridley, Simmons/Sweat, Harold/Key, Walker/Gray, Sneed/Roger/Chido plus the backend is the best put together team over an off season. JRob couldn’t do that

Tyler I'm a fan bro but you're too critical of him. Every one of your "critiques" can be corrected by NFL coaching. Please view this kid as first round pick that we stole. As a former Defense End this guy is a High level 5-Tech in disguise, your Denico Autry(similar height/wingspan) replacement if you will. I view him as Haloti Ngata(elephant end) type player(at his ceiling). This kid is a beast and PFF's top defense player and has only scratched the surface of his body(weight) and play potentials.
So I’m not supposed to point out areas of improvement if they are correctable?
